Flying from Dubai to Dublin? Emirates adds third daily flight
The world's largest international airline will offer passengers more travel choices to Dubai and beyond, as well as increased cargo capacity to/from Dublin.
Emirates flight EK165 will depart Dubai at 2.10am and arrive in Dublin at 6.25am, local time. The return flight, EK166, will depart Dublin at 8.25am and arrive in Dubai at 8pm local time.
The additional flight will provide Irish travellers with an early morning departure option, complementing the existing afternoon and evening departures offered by the airline's double daily service to the country.
The third daily flight will operate utilising a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft set in a three-class configuration, offering customers 8 private suites in First Class, 42 lie flat seats in Business Class and 304 spacious seats in Economy Class.
The added service will also provide travellers with enhanced connectivity to popular destinations across Emirates' network including Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok.
Last month, the airline officially introduced its newly retrofitted Boeing 777 on the Dubai to Dublin route. The airline has also announced it will deploy its second refurbished Boeing 777 to Dublin starting from October 16.

When was the last time you saw a humanoid robot wave and walk towards you? Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, had an experience that not many residents get to have during a meeting with local dignitaries at the Union House in Dubai today, August 6. In a video posted by Wam, the leader could be seen waving back at the humanoid robot. The robot also showcased its speed by running inside the majlis as the dignitaries looked on. The robot was present as part of a live demonstration of the Unitree G1 by Dubai Future Labs. The lightweight, highly balanced robot mimics human movement and represents the latest in robotics and AI. The Unitree G1 is a humanoid robot that stands 130cm tall and weighs around 35kg. Its onboard computing includes an 8-core high-performance CPU, with sensory hardware like a depth camera, 3D LiDAR, microphone array, speaker, Wi‑Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2. The robot runs for about two hours on a 13‑string lithium battery. Meeting at Al Mudaif Majlis During the gathering, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the UAE's continued progress in building a distinctive development model based on openness, competitiveness, and support for entrepreneurship. He noted that the country's success stems from ambitious goals, a people-centred approach, and strong public-private partnerships. The achievements of recent decades, he added, reflect a clear vision driven by planning, determination, and collaboration. Witkoff and Putin meeting 'highly productive', Trump says
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said the meeting between US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin was "highly productive". He added that "great progress was made" and that he had updated some European allies on the details of the meeting. "Everyone agrees this War must come to a close, and we will work towards that in the days and weeks to come," he said on his Truth Social platform. But Washington still expects to impose secondary tariffs on Moscow's trading partners on Friday, a senior administration official told The National. In July, the US set a 50-day deadline for Moscow to stop hostilities, threatening to impose secondary tariffs on trading partners importing Russian fuel. Mr Witkoff's visit is viewed as a last-ditch effort to end the conflict ahead of a deadline on Friday. The administration official added that 'the Russians are eager to continue engaging with the United States'. Mr Putin's foreign affairs adviser said that the two men had a 'useful and constructive conversation' that focused on Ukraine as well as 'prospects for possible development of strategic co-operation between the US and Russia '. Mr Trump, who campaigned on ending the war that has raged since early 2022, has become increasingly frustrated with his counterpart as Moscow's forces advance in Ukraine and its bomb and missile strikes killed hundreds of civilians. Overnight on Tuesday, Russian forces hit a recreational centre in Ukraine's southern Zaporizhzhia region, killing two people and injuring 12, including two children, according to local authorities. On entering office, Mr Trump attempted a more conciliatory tone with his Russian counterpart, in contrast to his predecessor Joe Biden, who enacted punishing sanctions against Moscow over the conflict. But relations frayed following a series of meetings with Ukrainian and Russian officials that failed to bring the war to a halt.

Dubai: Smart Nol card top-ups see 20% rise as less commuters rely on ticket machines
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced a 20 per cent increase in nol card top-up transactions through digital channels during the first half of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. This reflects ongoing efforts to advance digital transformation in public transport services and enhance customer satisfaction. The authority explained that the improvements included the provision of digital machines for ticket sales and top-ups, public awareness initiatives encouraging the use of digital channels such as the website and mobile payment applications, in addition to raising the minimum top-up amount for nol cards through machines and ticket sales offices. Statistics showed a 28 per cent decrease in the total number of top-up transactions via ticket vending machines, while digital transactions via these machines increased by 20 per cent. Meanwhile, cash transactions at ticket sales offices declined by 37 per cent, and digital transactions by six per cent, resulting in an overall 26 per cent drop in transactions at ticket offices. The RTA affirmed that this shift contributed to shorter queues and lower operating costs related to cash handling, along with an 80 per cent decrease in vending machine malfunctions due to fewer cash-based transactions.
