Duke's Jon Scheyer Receives Major Recruiting News On Elite Prospect
Duke lost a majority of its key players to the 2025 NBA Draft, including Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel, Khaman Maluach and Tyrese Proctor, among others.

But Scheyer has capitalized yet again with another top recruiting class, bringing in Cameron and Cayden Boozer, the twins of former Duke star Carlos Boozer, and Nikolas Khamenia, all of whom are top 25 prospects (247 Sports).
But Scheyer might not be done adding to his 2025 class. According to On3's Joe Tipton, the Blue Devils are inching closer to landing Italian guard Dame Sarr.
"Duke is gaining ground with elite Italian prospect Dame Sarr, per sources," Tipton wrote on X. "The 6-foot-6 shooting guard visited Kansas last week. Ranked as the No. 17 overall recruit in the 2025 class, per On3."
Sarr, 18, has been playing professionally for Spain's FC Barcelona since 2022, though his minutes on the court have been limited. In 15 games during the 2024-25 EuroLeague season, he averaged just 1.8 points on 57.9% shooting, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 5.2 minutes per game.

But Sarr came onto the scene at the 2025 Nike Hoops Summit, inserting his name into 2026 NBA Draft consideration with 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

Last week, Sarr partook in his first official college basketball visit with Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks, leading to a Crystal Ball prediction from 247 Sports' Travis Branham.
"Things sounding very positive with Kansas and Dame Sarr," Branham wrote.
However, that prediction has since been removed as Duke has inserted itself into the race for Sarr. The Blue Devils and Jayhawks will still have to battle the Oregon Ducks and Illinois Fighting Illini to land the Italian.

But Sarr could also elect to keep playing for FC Barcelona instead of joining a college program.

The Brooklyn Nets are heading into the 2025-26 NBA season in which they will be going through the second year of their latest full-scale rebuild under general manager Sean Marks. Brooklyn aren't expected to compete for a championship this upcoming season, but it wasn't too long ago when they had three some of the best players in the league. "That point guard position is crazy. You got CP (Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul), you got Russ (Russell Westbrook), and you got Kyrie (Irving). That is hard. Let me just go Kyrie, Russ, me, KD (Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant), and Joel (Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers center)," Clippers guard James Harden said in an interview with content creator FaZe Lacy. It's not surprising to see the starting five of teammates that Harden picked. Harden, 35, has spent time throughout his 16-year career playing with some of the best players in the NBA, including Durant and Irving during their time with the Nets. During the 2020-21 season, Harden was traded from the Rockets to Brooklyn to play with Durant and Irving in the hopes of leading the franchise to its first championship while allowing Harden to win his first title. Harden, Durant, and Irving were able to take the Nets to the 2021 Eastern Conference Semifinals, but eventually fell to Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in seven games. The 2021-22 season presented another chance for the trio to pay off what Marks invested in bringing Harden to Brooklyn, but the partnership ended fairly quickly as Harden was traded to the 76ers at the trade deadline. Harden went on to play with Embiid for parts of two seasons, but the superstar duo were unable to get past the second of the playoffs in their two seasons together. While Harden has yet to have championship success with a teammate, outside of Durant and Westbrook during their time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the former Arizona State Sun Devil still looks back on his time with those players in a positive light.

Former Phoenix Suns player seeks Trump pardon in $4M healthcare fraud case
Former Phoenix Suns point guard Sebastian Telfair sought a pardon from President Donald Trump ahead of his six-month prison sentence that was scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Aug. 12. During an on-street interview with TMZ Sports in Telfair's hometown of New York City on Aug. 11, he said there was "definitely some bulls---" regarding the "paperwork," stemming from his March 2023 conviction in a $4 million NBA healthcare fraud scheme case. The 40-year-old Telfair was among 18 former NBA players charged in the 2021 case, including two other former Suns players, Shannon Brown and Milt Palacio. Telfair reached a plea deal that led to him getting time served and three years of a supervised release program that included mandatory community service. But he allegedly failed to report to the U.S. Probation Office and fulfill the terms of his conditional supervised release, which led to the prison term. "Trump, go check in on my story and you're definitely going to want to pardon me," Telfair said. "You'll hold me accountable and want me to continue to go do good. But I did too good to being sending anybody to jail." Telfair played for eight NBA teams, appearing in 106 games for the Suns from 2011-13, and averaged 6.1 points and 2.4 assists as a backup PG during his Phoenix stint. Before his NBA career, Telfair was a high school phenom who graced the covers of Sports Illustrated and SLAM Magazine in his senior year in 2004. He went from the prep ranks to the league as the Portland Trail Blazers' No. 13 overall pick that year and is the cousin of former Suns All-Star Stephon Marbury.
