NIA arrests two ISIS-linked absconders in Pune IED case
New Delhi[India], May 17 (ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two absconders, identified as members of a sleeper module of the banned ISIS terror organisation, in a 2023 case related to the fabrication and testing of IEDs in Pune, Maharashtra, as per the release. The two men, identified as Abdullah Faiyaz Shaikh alia Diaperwala and Talha Khan, were intercepted by the Bureau of Immigration at the Mumbai International Airport T2 when they tried to return to India from Jakarta, Indonesia, where they had been hiding out. The NIA team then took them into custody and arrested them.
According to the release, both accused had been on the run for over two years and were declared proclaimed offenders. The NIA Special Court in Mumbai issued non-bailable warrants against them, and cash rewards of Rs 3 lakh each were also announced for information leading to their arrest.
The case RC-05/2023/NIA/MUM relates to a criminal conspiracy by these men, along with eight other ISIS Pune sleeper module members already arrested and in judicial custody. They had conspired to commit terrorist acts with the aim of disturbing India's peace and communal harmony by waging a war against the Government of India in furtherance of the ISIS agenda to establish Islamic rule in the country through violence and terror. These two men, already chargesheeted along with the other arrested accused, had been engaged in assembling IEDs from a house rented by Abdullah Faiyaz Shaikh in Kondhwa, Pune. During the 2022-2023 period, they had also organised and participated in a bomb making and training workshop, besides carrying out a controlled explosion to test an IED fabricated by them, at these premises. NIA, which has been actively investigating the activities of ISIS in India in a bid to foil its violent and nefarious anti-India terrorist plans, had previously chargesheeted all the 10 accused in the case under various sections of UA (P) Act, Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act and IPC.
In addition to Abdullah Faiyaz Shaikh and Talha Khan, the others arrested in the case are Mohammed Imran Khan, Mohammed Yunus Saki, Abdul Kadir Pathan, Simab Nasiruddin Kazi, Zulfikar Ali Barodawala, Shamil Nachan, Akif Nachan, and Shahnawaz Alam. Investigations in the case are continuing. (ANI)

Job scam busted: 4 arrested, Rs 6 lakh recovered
Vizianagaram: The Vizianagaram One Town police busted a major job racket that duped several unemployed youth by promising jobs in the State Secretariat. Police arrested four members of the gang and recovered Rs 6 lakh from them. A total of nine individuals have been identified as accused in the case. Disclosing the details at a press conference held at One Town police station on Saturday, Vizianagaram DSP M Srinivas Rao revealed that the gang had collected Rs 53 lakh from seven victims across various districts, including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Jangareddygudem, and Vizianagaram. Each victim paid between Rs 5 to Rs 8 lakh, hoping to secure a government job in AP Secretariat. The gang operated by creating fake appointment letters and ID cards, and even took the victims to Velagapudi Secretariat in Amaravati. Sujeeth, a key accused from Pradeep Nagar in Vizianagaram, played a major role by keeping the victims at a hotel near the Secretariat for a week, providing meals, and convincing them that their appointments were genuine. The victims believed they had secured jobs until they discovered the addresses mentioned in the appointment letters were fake. Realizing they had been duped, they approached the police. The investigation began following a complaint filed by Vinod, a resident of Dharmavaram in S Kota mandal. Acting on the complaint, CI Srinivas and SI Prasanna Kumar of One Town Police traced and apprehended the culprits. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mahesh (Vizianagaram), Rubin (Jangareddygudem), John (Eluru), and Yakub. The prime accused, Sujeeth, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital with illness. DSP said that they are searching for the other accused and will be caught soon.

Jared Leto faces sexual misconduct allegations from multiple women
Washington [US], June 8 (ANI): Jared Leto, the Oscar-winning actor and frontman of the rock band 'Thirty Seconds to Mars', is facing serious allegations of sexual misconduct from multiple women, some of whom claim they were underage when the incidents occurred. As per reports obtained by People magazine, in an interview, nine women described troubling interactions with the 53-year-old actor. The accounts span over a decade and outline what some allege to be a long-standing pattern of predatory behaviour. Among the accusations, women claim Leto exposed himself, asked sexually explicit questions, and initiated inappropriate contact, sometimes when they were just teenagers. One woman told in the interview, "It's been an open secret for a long time," referring to Leto's alleged behaviour, as quoted by People magazine. According to People magazine, a representative for Leto "expressly denied all allegations" in a statement to the publication in response. One accuser, model Laura La Rue, said she first met Leto at an animal rights event in 2008 when she was 16. After maintaining email contact, she visited his studio in 2009 and alleged that he flirted with her and once emerged naked from a room, as if it were completely ordinary behaviour. "I thought maybe this was just what adult men do," she reflected, as quoted by People magazine. While a representative for Leto claims there was "nothing sexual or inappropriate" in their exchanges and that La Rue even applied to be his assistant, a claim she denies, La Rue insists her experiences were unsettling. Another woman recounted meeting Leto when she was 16 at a cafe in Los Angeles. She alleged that he called her at night, using what she described as a disturbing and sexually charged tone. "He changed his voice, the way he talked. It scared me," she said, adding that he asked invasive questions about her sexual experience. Her mother reportedly overheard the conversations and corroborated her account to the outlet, as per People magazine. Several women allege similar behaviour, including one who claims that during a visit to Leto's home when she was 18, he exposed himself and began masturbating. One woman who attended a party at Leto's home in the early 2000s said she was 18 at the time and observed what she believed was a deliberate effort to encourage young women to skinny dip. "I was definitely not the youngest person there," she said, as quoted by People magazine. A representative for Leto dismissed the allegation, asserting that "there was never any recruiting, complaints or impropriety." Brent Bolthouse, a nightlife promoter who organised events at Leto's residence, said he "never saw anyone skinny-dipping." The allegations gained renewed attention last month when DJ Allie Teilz referenced her own experience on social media, saying she was "assaulted and traumatised by this creep when I was 17," as quoted by People magazine.
