Former Liverpool and Man Utd star Paul Ince banned for drink-driving
The 57-year-old was caught swerving his black Range Rover across the road in Cheshire on June 28.
Chester Magistrates Court heard that Ince had 49 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when stopped by police. Prosecutor Nigel Jones stated, 'On the day in question, the defendant was witnessed by an off-duty police officer driving a vehicle perceived to be swerving across the road.'
The court was told his car hit bollards, bursting two tyres.
Defence lawyer Frank Rogers said, 'My client finds himself today facing the huge impact of a ban, but he accepts he only has himself to blame for that.
He misjudged the fact he believed at the time he would be under the limit.' Rogers explained Ince had two drinks at Heswall Golf Club without eating beforehand.
District Judge Jack McGarva warned Ince, 'The message has got to be if you're going to drive you don't drink at all.'
The former England captain, who won two Premier League titles with Manchester United, most recently managed Reading until 2023. - AFP

Details of the transfer were not disclosed but British media reported the 21-year-old Spaniard has signed a five-year contract for an initial fee of around 15 million euros ($17.7 million), plus add-ons. Mosquera featured in 90 matches for Valencia across all competitions and played 37 of their 38 LaLiga games last season to help them finish 12th. He joins Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard and Noni Madueke among Arsenal's close-season signings. Striker Viktor Gyokeres is also reported to be on the brink of joining the London club as manager Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad after finishing runners-up in the last three Premier League seasons. "We're delighted to welcome Cristhian to Arsenal. As a 21-year-old defender, Cristhian has already performed consistently well with significant experience in LaLiga," Arteta said in a statement. "He is an intelligent player with good pace, who can play centrally and on both sides." ($1 = 0.8497 euros) (Reporting by Shifa Jahan in Bengaluru, editing by Ed Osmond)

Firmino leaves Al-Ahli to join Qatar's Al-Sadd on two-year deal
JEDDAH: Former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has joined Qatar's Al-Sadd after Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli confirmed the Brazilian's departure from the club on Wednesday. Firmino has signed a two-year deal with the Qatar Stars League champions, having led Al-Ahli to the Asian Champions League Elite title in Jeddah in May. "I'm happy because we made history at the club during these two years together," the Brazilian said in a farewell video released by the Saudi club. "The best moment was to become the champions of Asia. I'm very grateful for this." Firmino spent two seasons with Al-Ahli after joining from Liverpool and played a key role in the club's first continental title win, scoring six times in 12 games in the Asian Champions League Elite. He provided assists for both of his club's goals in their win over Japan's Kawasaki Frontale in the final in May to become the first player - alongside clubmates Riyad Mahrez and Edouard Mendy - to win continental titles in Asia and Europe. Firmino's performances saw him named the competition's most valuable player.
