SEOUL – A music video featuring the late South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron was released on April 28, offering a final glimpse of her performance before her death in February.
South Korean film distributor Cmnix unveiled the music video for the song A World Without Pain, an original soundtrack from the upcoming film Guitar Man. The music video, available on YouTube, is composed of clips from the film, in which Kim plays Yoo-jin, the female lead.
The film's director Lee Sun-jung said of the late star: 'Kim Sae-ron brought a lot of bright energy and passion to the filming. I had hoped she would return with an even greater comeback, but she left us too soon. Just as the soundtrack's title says, I hope she finds happiness in a world without pain.'
Lee added tha t proceeds from the soundtrack will be donated to the Korea Suicide Prevention Centre.
Guitar Man is scheduled for release in South Korea on May 30. The movie, about a genius guitarist who joins an underground band, was one of Kim's final films before she committed suicide at the age of 24 in February 2025.
Prior to her death, Guitar Man had seemingly signalled a comeback for Kim, whose career and reputation took a nosedive after she was caught drink-driving in May 2022, crashing into a transformer by the roadside and interrupting electricity to nearby merchants. She took a hiatus, and returned to acting with Guitar Man only in 2024.
Another of her posthumous films is Everyday We Are, a romance in which she plays a high school girl who loves basketball. While filming wrapped in 2021, it is expected to be released later in 2025.
Kim, who made her debut as a child star, rose to fame starring opposite actor Won Bin in the hit thriller film The Man From Nowhere (2010).
Her death stirred controversy in her home country, especially after rumours surfaced that Queen Of Tears (2024) leading man Kim Soo-hyun, 37, had begun a relationship with he r when she was a minor.
Kim admitted that he had dated the actress , but did so only from 2019 to 2020, after she became a legal adult. THE KOREA HERALD/ASIA NEWS NETWORK

Seungmin of Stray Kids on his latest campaign with Burberry

We're currently in the throes of summer. Of tank tops, flip flops, colourful popsicles and music festivals all around—especially in Britain, now with the weather on their side. From Glastonbury and Leeds to BST Hyde Park and Isle of Wight, bands and artists have been congregating in a formidable lineup, all to perform live in front of throngs of festival goers. Celebrating the universal phenomenon is Burberry, with its latest campaign 'Burberry Festival'. 'Think of the campaign like a collage,' says chief creative officer, Daniel Lee. 'Candid moments capturing off-duty fans and headline acts in between gigs.' Shot against a set of sound systems by photographer Drew Vickers, the campaign features a cast from the intertwining worlds of music and fashion, including Liam Gallagher and his children, Alexa Chung, Cara Delevingne and South Korean star Seungmin. In this case, art imitates life for the Stray Kids member, who is all too familiar with playing at a music festival with his members. Below, he shares with Vogue Singapore his time shooting for the latest Burberry campaign and what he loves most about music festivals. How would you describe the vibe of the shoot? Everyone was so supportive and really seemed to enjoy and cheer on my energy, which brought me so much strength. I wanted to stay in London longer! Seungmin in 'Burberry Festival'. Courtesy of Burberry Describe your look for the campaign. The classic, vibrant, youthful, and clean Burberry vibe? I feel a bit shy saying it myself… What was the best moment of the day for you? When I took the mic and filmed a performance scene with an Oasis song playing, I really got into it, and I was super happy because everyone seemed to enjoy it! Seungmin behind the scenes of 'Burberry Festival'. Courtesy of Burberry What's the most memorable moment you've had while performing at a music festival? It would be the moment on stage at last year's festival. The memory of performing in front of countless fans with the sunset in the background still remains so clear to me. The sight of the audience's hands glowing in the sunset really tugged at my heart! Accompanied by the band's sound surrounding us, our music felt truly grand. Is there a song that you feel hits differently when performed at a festival? I love performing 'S-Class'. It may be because the song holds a sense of pride, but even when the song isn't in the language of the audience, they still sing along and relate with it, making it feel even more special! View this post on Instagram A post shared by BST Hyde Park (@bsthydepark) You've played some iconic festivals so far, including BST Hyde Park in London. What do you take away from those experiences? It's always so amazing and we are so grateful to see how much love people pour into our music and countless other things even from so far away. Even though we all speak different languages, it seems that our hearts have become similar as they are connected through music! How important are festivals in connecting fans from different parts of the world? Since it's not an opportunity that comes easily, I think the big stage of a music festival is a really important and rare chance for artists to connect with fans.

Airbnb experiences themed after K-pop boy band Seventeen to be rolled out in major cities

Airbnb experiences themed after K-pop boy band Seventeen to be rolled out in major cities SEOUL – In short-term lodging, experience could matter just as much or more than the spaces themselves, which is why a collaboration with a K-pop boy band such as Seventeen is so beneficial, according to Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky. At a press conference in Seoul on June 4, the vacation rental website's head honcho recalled working with the South Korean group in 2024, a project he said had proved to be hugely popular with not only Seventeen fans, but Airbnb travellers as a whole, because of the unique experience it offered. The collaboration included replicating the set of Seventeen's music video Love, Money, Fame (2024) into a real-life accommodation, allowing Carats - what Seventeen fans are dubbed - to experience a unique stay. The same props from the music video were also used to furnish the Seventeen-inspired Airbnb room. 'We plan to roll out Seventeen-themed Airbnb programmes in major cities,' Mr Chesky said at the press conference, without identifying where. This followed a meet-and-greet event for 60 pre-selected Seventeen fans where the K-pop act were one-day-only special Airbnb hosts, in celebration of its 10th anniversary. Seventeen Airbnb Experience, as the fan gathering was called, was a demonstration of Airbnb Originals, a celebrity-hosted exclusive experience that is part of Airbnb Experiences, an ambitious programme Airbnb launched in May to focus on unique activities run by local hosts. The programme is to help travellers truly experience their local surroundings with local hosts who know just how to do so, according to Mr Chesky. 'The biggest asset in people's lives is really not their home — it's their time. What if people could share not only their space, but their time with someone else?' he asked. The latest trip to Seoul by the Airbnb CEO is part of his global tour to promote Airbnb Experiences. He has made stops in Paris, Berlin, Milan and Tokyo, and emphasised that Seoul is a strategic market he personally finds deeply inspirational. According to Airbnb Korea, bookings on the platform in the country in 2024 soared 20 per cent from the previous year. The make-up of international visitors to South Korea is increasingly becoming diverse, the company added without elaboration. TV & Film Picks: Nine Puzzles, Our Unwritten Seoul, Lost In Starlight

(Clockwise from left) Park Bo-young in Our Unwritten Seoul, Kim Da-mi and Son Suk-ku in Nine Puzzles, and Lost In Starlight features the voices of Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung. PHOTOS: NETFLIX, DISNEY+ Nine Puzzles Disney+ Those who love solving puzzles will enjoy this cerebral crime thriller, which has become Disney+'s most-viewed South Korean title globally in 2025 – just nine days after the show's May 21 premiere. Kim Da-mi is Yoon E-na, a kooky crime profiler on the trail of a serial killer who leaves behind puzzle pieces at the crime scenes. Joining her in the cat-and-mouse game is Son Suk-ku's cynical detective Kim Han-saem. They may butt heads, but both are determined to catch the potential mastermind behind a decade-old cold murder case. If bingeing on Nine Puzzles is not enough, viewers can try their hand at solving crimes inspired by the series at the Nine Puzzles: Decoded interactive escape room experience. Find hidden clues and crack codes, and receive a personalised keepsake at the end of the nine challenges. The Nine Puzzles: Decoded pop-up is at Plaza Singapura (B2-17/18) until June 10. Entry is free, from 3 to 9pm on weekdays and 11am to 10pm on weekends. Our Unwritten Seoul Netflix With only four episodes in since its debut on May 24, Our Unwritten Seoul has already claimed the third spot on Netflix's global top 10 non-English shows chart. In the coming-of-age K-drama, South Korean actress Park Bo-young plays identical twins Yu Mi-ji and Yu Mi-jae, who happen to be polar opposites. Portraying two unique characters is already a challenge. Yet, the premise sees the sisters swopping identities, so Park is technically tasked to bring four distinctive personas to life. Elder twin Mi-jae works in a government agency in Seoul. Eager to please and always striving to be the best, the submissive woman falls from grace after a workplace incident and becomes a victim of office bullying. Meanwhile, bubbly and assertive Mi-ji lives in the countryside with their single mother and ailing grandmother. The over-achieving Mi-jae is favoured over the aimless Mi-ji, but the younger twin is the quiet pillar of strength in the family. Our Unwritten Seoul also stars K-idol Jinyoung from boy band Got7 as the twins' neighbour and Mi-ji's love interest. The 12-episode series about finding oneself is a slow-burner, and it works purely because of Park's versatile performance. Lost In Starlight 98 minutes, Netflix Lost In Starlight features the voices of Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung. PHOTO: NETFLIX Set in a futuristic Seoul, Lost In Starlight follows astro-scientist Nan-young and musician Jay's budding romance. Their relationship is put to the test when Nan-young gets accepted into a space programme that will take her to Mars. Can the star-crossed lovers make it through space and time, and achieve their dreams? These are some questions raised by South Korean film-maker Han Ji-won in this animated film. Oscar-winning South Korean director Bong Joon-ho praised Lost In Starlight as 'a visual masterpiece that takes you around the universe' in a statement accompanying the film's global release on May 30. Lost In Starlight is Netflix's first South Korean animation, and features the voices of award-winning actress Kim Tae-ri as Nan-young and actor Hong Kyung as Jay. Incidentally, both Kim and Hong first starred together in the acclaimed K-horror series Revenant (2023).
