Admitting unofficial talks already underway, PAS spiritual adviser says Perikatan ready to accept MCA and MIC
He said both the Islamist party and the coalition have been invited to discuss the matter with both Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties.
'I believe we are already moving towards negotiations, and these talks are open to any party. Anyone who wants to work with us can enter into discussions.
'I see MCA and MIC as being able to contribute positively to PN,' he was quoted saying by Utusan Malaysia.
Hashim said this is a positive development, and PAS is always open to working with other parties as long as it does not conflict with our principles.
Earlier this month, MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran said the party is open to talks with other parties, as it seeks to rebuild following a more weakened position after the 15th general election.
Deputy president Datuk Seri M Saravanan was also previously quoted saying the party will decide on its direction during its annual general meeting in October as it feels like an 'unwanted guest' in this government.
Besides PAS and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, PN already has the Malaysian Indian People's Party and Gerakan as its component parties.

Speaking at the 60th Anniversary Parade of the Special Forces Regiment at Kem Iskandar in Mersing, Johor today, the King emphasised that careful planning is essential to enhance the readiness of the Special Forces Regiment. 'All acquisitions must be based on market prices and actual operational needs, not just on agents' suggestions,' Sultan Ibrahim said, according to a post on his official Facebook page. 'Do not waste time buying items that are unnecessary or unsuitable for the military. 'If you don't know the price, consult me first.' Sultan Ibrahim recalled a past warning regarding the purchase of Rigid Riding Craft (RRC) boats for commandos at RM5 million each, when better alternatives could be acquired for under RM2 million. 'Recently, I learned there was a proposal to buy the same type of boat again, slightly larger, at nearly RM10 million. 'This is unreasonable and must be carefully reviewed,' he added. The King also highlighted concerns over delayed projects, including a combat diving pool at Kem Iskandar, which was scheduled for completion in 2022 but remains unusable. 'Beyond price, the quality of items purchased must also be prioritised,' Sultan Ibrahim said.

Corrupt few will tarnish all of PDRM, deputy IGP warns
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 — The actions of a small number of police officers and personnel involved in corruption have tarnished the reputation of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), despite the majority performing their duties with integrity and dedication. Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said that corruption-related offences must be dealt with firmly, regardless of the rank of the individuals involved. Ayob Khan said he has never compromised with any officers or personnel involved in such offences during his tenure as Johor police chief, director of the Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), and director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID). 'In Johor, when I served as police chief, some officers and personnel were subjected to action under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma). At the NCID, officers with the ranks of Superintendent, ASP, and Inspector were placed under Special Preventive Measures,' he said. He said this to reporters after the launch of the book Antologi Puisi Makan Suap at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) here last night. Also present were DBP director-general Hazami Jahari and National Poets Association (Pemuisi) president Datuk Radzuan Ibrahim. At the same time, Ayob Khan stressed that attempting to conceal corruption cases to protect the organisation's reputation would only allow such activities to fester and become harder to prevent. 'For the PDRM, we will not compromise. If I detect such cases, the first step is to refer major cases to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC); the second is to open an investigation paper, and the third is to initiate disciplinary proceedings,' he said. Meanwhile, in his speech at the book launch, Ayob Khan said he would continue to speak out, reprimand, and remind all PDRM officers and personnel about the disgraceful and humiliating nature of corrupt practices. He also reaffirmed his firm stance to tackle this reprehensible culture, despite attempts by a few parties, both within and outside the force, to portray corruption in the PDRM as difficult to eradicate. Zaid chides PMX for 'appearing paralysed' when the Chinese come under siege by Akmal
THE latest wave of anti-Chinese sentiment from UMNO Youth over the flag and other manufactured outrages should have been the moment Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim or PMX, stood firm and drew a line. Instead, he appears paralysed, as if forgetting that Chinese votes carried him into Putrajaya. One stark trait of our PM is his reluctance to step into national controversies. He cherry-picks his sound bites on safer ground or not at all. On this, he has been an utter disappointment. Equally baffling is the response of Chinese parties in government. They endure repeated insults and provocations from UMNO Youth with stoic silence, yet spring instantly into outrage at PAS' religious rhetoric. This selective sensitivity betrays a warped sense of priorities. If unity is truly the goal, then surely the poison of racial hostility deserves equal, if not greater, urgency. UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Salleh is, clearly, a member of the untouchable elite; no different from the Sabah politicians or the celebrity preachers Zamri Vinoth and Firdaus Wong. Akmal, dismissing Feng's explanation as accidental, branded the act 'traitorous' and urged supporters to join him in 'teaching' the shop owners how to hang the flag. Police are investigating under the Emblems and Names Act and related laws. Akmal gave his statement to police at the Dang Wangi IPD over last Thursday's Kepala Batas assembly. His lawyer said Akmal cooperated fully, answering about 80 questions. He is being investigated under the Sedition Act, the Penal Code (criminal intimidation), and the Communications and Multimedia Act.
