Why Short Time Procrastinating at Work Is Beneficial

Egypt Today08-04-2025
To those working people, it's understandable that every day gets a little challenging to juggle tasks, reply to emails, avoid conflicts, and be productive. Who hasn't had the thought of quitting and leaving everything in the middle of a workday? Guilty as charged, we all have wanted to throw our computers in the trash like Ron Swanson or quit elegantly like Andy from The Devil Wears Parada, but as liberating as it is (especially if you want to quit from a toxic work environment) our thoughts to quit sometimes come from being exhausting and not having the time to relax or take your mind off.
The sad reality about work is that it doesn't stop if you're tired, depressed, or ill, as clients have businesses to run, and customers are in a rush for their needs to be met.
So you resort to procrastination, which comes in various forms, like watching Tiktoks, putting on perfume, extending your lunch break time, checking out other departments, and joking with your coworkers…etc.
These semi-short procrastination periods that you take are beneficial to you, and you shouldn't feel bad for shutting down your brain when feeling like it, sure, things can seem like they're on fire but if you act stressful in times of need, it will backfire, so it's better for you to slack it off.
You might not be convinced yet, because in your mind you're wondering, how procrastination (the absolute enemy of productivity) the trait every employer sees as a red flag, is good, well, allow us to explain how being a procrastinator is actually good in the workplace.
Procrastinating Can Lead to Less Caring
Clickbaity title but please bear with us. When we say less caring, we don't mean that you stop working and ignore your responsibilities, what we are saying is that procrastinating just for a little while helps you not jump into a stressful mind and live constantly on anxiety and worrying about work and unfinished tasks. Take a breather, relax, and let things be.
Procrastinating Works on Boosting Mood
Leaving your desk for a while to 'annoy' your coworker, making reels together, ordering lunch, or even catching up on your favorite show is such a relief.
Work demands a level of stability, focus, and restraint that only happens when you're in a good state of mind, so by taking some time off and embracing that procrastinator side just a bit, you will be calmer.
Self Care, Physical and Mental is Induced
Small steps of self-care during work like reapplying hand cream, taking too much time in the bathroom fixing makeup, going for a walk, and enjoying the sun, are crucial to improving physical and mental health.
Self-care practices improve health and well-being by creating a good setting. Despite hectic work schedules, these times prioritize requirements, offer physical advantages, and promote introspection, enabling us to maintain a connection with our inner selves.

Inc. (NASDAQ:) is one of the . On August 11, Freedom Broker analyst Egor Tolmachev raised the price target on the stock to $255.00 (from $240.00) while maintaining a Hold rating. The investment bank noted how Amazon has delivered strong financial results for the second quarter, surpassing both market expectations and its own guidance across all segments. Retail efficiency gains were particularly noted. The firm did note that AWS performance was mixed and Q3 profit forecast was cautious. Nevertheless, it revised its financial forecast based on its confidence in the company's ability to mitigate geopolitical risk and monetize continued logistics improvements. 'Q3 guidance came in well above revenue expectations but below profit forecasts, marking a second area of perceived weakness in the release. We view this as prudent management positioning in light of heightened geopolitical uncertainty. We have revised our financial forecasts upward, reflecting confidence in Amazon's ability to mitigate geopolitical risk and monetize continued logistics improvements. Despite the negative share price reaction, we see upside potential and reiterate our Buy rating, raising our target price from $240 to $255.' Inc. Arch Manning doesn't make Manning Award watch list

Arch Manning is the preseason Heisman Trophy favorite, but he's not officially on the radar of the award named after his family. Yet. The watch list for the 2025 Manning Award, which recognizes the nation's top quarterback, was released Thursday with 27 different quarterbacks making the cut. Manning, whose family is the namesake of the award, wasn't one of them. Manning entered the Texas program as one of the most hyped recruits in college football history and is taking over the starting job after two seasons of backing up Quinn Ewers. He was the favorite to go first overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, until his grandfather Archie said he expected him to stay at Texas for his senior season. There is a reason for Manning not making the Manning Award watch list, though. Every quarterback who made the cut saw significantly more action last year than the 21-year-old, who appeared in 10 games but started only two for Longhorns. The Manning Award's announcement makes clear that additional quarterbacks will be added to the watch list as the season progresses, and you would figure that Manning will be an easy choice if he performs as expected. And if he is one of the frontrunners, we'll see how he does with a voting panel that includes multiple family members. The Manning family might even be in on some kind of joke here, as Archie is directly quote in the release saying they will review the newcomers: "We're looking forward to another exciting year of college football," said Archie Manning. "I'd like to thank the Sugar Bowl for continuing to build the tradition of the Manning Award which now has over 20 years of honoring the top quarterbacks in the country for the entire football season. This year we have another great group on our preseason Watch List; in October, we'll review the transfers and other newcomers and then boost the Watch List with the best from that group." If you're curious, here's the full list of quarterbacks on the preseason watch list, which includes Penn State's Drew Allar and LSU's Garrett Nussmeier, the new favorites to go first overall in the draft next year.
