Wyc Grousbeck stepping down as Celtics governor
Wyc Grousbeck is out as the controlling governor of the Boston Celtics according to ESPN's Shams Charania and Ramona Shelburne. When he first put the team for sale on July 1st, 2024, Grousbeck said he hoped to control the team through the 2027-28 season even after the sale was completed. In the press release of the sale in March, the team announced that Grousbeck would have control through the 2027-28 season. Chisholm agreed to pay $6.1 billion for the team when the sale was agreed to in March. He will now take over full control of the Celtics when the transfer is approved by the NBA's Board of Governors within the next couple of weeks. My two cent:, this isn't a huge surprise. Chisholm was always going to be the final decision maker regardless of who was tabbed as the governor of the team because he is going to be writing the checks. I am sure Grousbeck saw that writing on the wall and decided to just hand the title of governor over as well. CelticsBlog alum Keith Smith, put it best: Thus, this puts to bed the Grousbeck era where the Celtics won two titles, made the Finals four times and only missed the playoffs twice since 2007. It ushers in a new era with new ownership that Celtics fans can only hope will be as successful as the last one.

Oklahoma Sooners beat out Texas Longhorns for 2026 5-star defensive end
The Oklahoma Sooners landed one of the best prospects in the 2026 recruiting class on Tuesday, earning a commitment from ESPN five-star defensive end Jake Kreul. Kreul chose the Oklahoma Sooners over the Texas Longhorns and the Ole Miss Rebels. Kreul announced his commitment on the Pat McAfee Show on ESPN. An IMG Academy product, Kreul joins former teammates David Stone and Jayden Jackson in Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis' defensive line room and will have an opportunity to make an instant impact in 2026. Kreul's a dynamic rusher off the edge with a big-time motor and an advanced set of pass rush moves. He can win with speed and athleticism and has the power to push offensive tackles into the backfield with a bull rush. Kreul's a complete defensive end with the length and the strength to set the edge in the run game. He had a total of 36 Power Four offers, with 13 coming from SEC schools and eight more from Big Ten schools. Kreul is the No. 22 player in the class according to ESPN and No. 61 according to 247Sports. He's one of the most polished pass rushers in the class, and with his size and strength, would have an opportunity to play early in his career. He's an elite player with the ability to be a difference maker against the run and as a pass rusher. He has 36 Power Four offers. Any team would be thrilled to land a player with his skill set. The Oklahoma Sooners will add Kreul to a class that also includes four-star defensive end prospect Daniel Norman and three-star edge Matthew Nelson. Oklahoma has an intriguing group of pass rushers that will be on the roster in 2026, but nobody that's established themselves as a bona fide defensive end. Unless Taylor Wein, Danny Okoye, or Adepoju Adebawore have a big year for the Sooners in 2025, the door will be open for Kreul to find a way into the defensive end rotation on day one. Jake Kreul Recruiting Profile Watch Jake Kreul highlights on Hudl Kreul is one of the elite prospects in the 2026 cycle, demonstrating technical refinement in his game. Locked On's recruiting analyst Brian Smith called Kreul "the most technically advanced high school edge rusher" he's ever seen. Caddie Ted Scott still not back with No. 1 Scottie Scheffler for BMW Championship prep
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Scottie Scheffler may be without regular caddie Ted Scott this week for the BMW Championship, the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs. Scott, who has been on the bag for all 17 victories for Scheffler since they began working together in late 2021, skipped the final round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship on Sunday due to a private family matter. Scheffler used Brad Payne, a personal friend and the president of College Golf Fellowship. Payne drove to Memphis from his home in Dallas Saturday night. Scheffler shot 67 and finished T-3, his eighth consecutive top-10 finish. More: How much money did Scottie Scheffler's caddie Ted Scott make in 2024? Golf Channel's Todd Lewis reported on Sunday that Scott left for his home in Louisiana on Saturday night. On Tuesday, Scheffler was spotted playing a practice round at Caves Valley Golf Club with veteran caddie Michael Cromie on the bag. Cromie typically works for pro Chris Kirk, but Kirk finished 51st in the FedEx Cup season-long standings and, as a result, is out of the FedEx Cup playoffs. Only the top 50 in the field have advanced to the BMW Championship. Unclear if Ted Scott will return to BMW Championship It's unclear at this time if Scott needed a few extra days at home and is missing out on the practice rounds or if he is skipping the BMW and Cromie will work the tournament too. Scheffler already has clinched being first in the FedEx Cup point standings heading into the Tour Championship, the finale of the FedEx Cup, even if Rory McIlroy, who is currently second, were to win this week. Scheffler already has locked up the top FedEx Cup bonus at the end of the BMW and secured his spot in the Tour Championship, which no longer has the staggered start this year. Scheffler's agent didn't respond to a request for confirmation on Scott's status for this week when this story was originally published.
