Oklahoma Sooners beat out Texas Longhorns for 2026 5-star defensive end
An IMG Academy product, Kreul joins former teammates David Stone and Jayden Jackson in Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis' defensive line room and will have an opportunity to make an instant impact in 2026.
Kreul's a dynamic rusher off the edge with a big-time motor and an advanced set of pass rush moves. He can win with speed and athleticism and has the power to push offensive tackles into the backfield with a bull rush. Kreul's a complete defensive end with the length and the strength to set the edge in the run game.
He had a total of 36 Power Four offers, with 13 coming from SEC schools and eight more from Big Ten schools. Kreul is the No. 22 player in the class according to ESPN and No. 61 according to 247Sports. He's one of the most polished pass rushers in the class, and with his size and strength, would have an opportunity to play early in his career.
He's an elite player with the ability to be a difference maker against the run and as a pass rusher. He has 36 Power Four offers. Any team would be thrilled to land a player with his skill set.
The Oklahoma Sooners will add Kreul to a class that also includes four-star defensive end prospect Daniel Norman and three-star edge Matthew Nelson. Oklahoma has an intriguing group of pass rushers that will be on the roster in 2026, but nobody that's established themselves as a bona fide defensive end. Unless Taylor Wein, Danny Okoye, or Adepoju Adebawore have a big year for the Sooners in 2025, the door will be open for Kreul to find a way into the defensive end rotation on day one.

Notre Dame has '26 commits Davis Jr., O'Brien on Rivals' 2025 preseason All-American team
Rivals 2025 Preseason High School Football Defense All-Americans ✅Read: Notre Dame's 2026 recruiting class has been in the news for a good portion of the offseason due to the high volume of top talent that the Fighting Irish were able to get committed. So the fact that ND was able to place two 2026 commits on Rivals' 2025 preseason high school All-American list comes as no surprise. Legacy recruit Thomas Davis Jr. is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound outside linebacker from Weddington (Matthews, NC) who was forever linked to Georgia, his father's alma mater, but Davis Jr. committed to ND three days after he visited the Fighting Irish during their 52-3 win over Florida State last fall. He recorded 92 tackles and 13.5 tackles for loss last season. Joining Davis Jr. on Rivals' list is Joey O'Brien from La Salle College (Glenside, PA), who helped lead a defense that only gave up 127 points in 11 games last season. The top safety prospect thought he was going to be enrolling at Oregon until he visited South Bend and fell in love with the atmosphere. The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder is dangerous playing offense as well, as he caught 68 passes for 1,029 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2024. Former Wisconsin basketball star appeals to Badgers fans with NFL fandom
Former Wisconsin basketball star John Tonje continues to ingratiate himself with the Badger fanbase, even after joining the Utah Jazz as a second-round pick in the latest NBA draft. Tonje, who is on the short list of recent Wisconsin basketball greats despite spending just one year with the program, took to X on Tuesday to share the following: "Never had a football team growing up, but I went to Wisconsin, so I think I'm a Packers fan." Of course, not all Wisconsin basketball fans are also Green Bay Packers fans. However, given Wisconsin basketball's place in the state's larger sports ecosystem, that dual fandom is quite common. Tonje's play already did the heavy lifting with the fanbase during the season. Now playing in the NBA, he still maintains a connection to Wisconsin and the Badger fanbase. The All-American wing began his college basketball career at Colorado State back in 2019. He played four years for the Rams, headlined by per-game averages of 14.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists as a senior in 2022-23. The Omaha, Nebraska, native then transferred to Missouri for his fifth year, though he missed nearly the entire season due to injury. Finally, Tonje joined the Badgers for his final collegiate season in 2024-25. He delivered one of the greatest seasons in program history, averaging 19.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists and finishing just eight points shy of Frank Kaminsky's single-season scoring record. That record would have been his had the Badgers defeated BYU in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Tonje, who recently concluded the NBA Summer League session with the Jazz, is now looking to make his mark at the professional level. His connection to Wisconsin fans was already strong after his record season with the Badgers. Once the NFL season starts, he can also now share the Packer fan experience.
