Notre Dame has '26 commits Davis Jr., O'Brien on Rivals' 2025 preseason All-American team
Notre Dame's 2026 recruiting class has been in the news for a good portion of the offseason due to the high volume of top talent that the Fighting Irish were able to get committed.
So the fact that ND was able to place two 2026 commits on Rivals' 2025 preseason high school All-American list comes as no surprise.
Legacy recruit Thomas Davis Jr. is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound outside linebacker from Weddington (Matthews, NC) who was forever linked to Georgia, his father's alma mater, but Davis Jr. committed to ND three days after he visited the Fighting Irish during their 52-3 win over Florida State last fall. He recorded 92 tackles and 13.5 tackles for loss last season.
Joining Davis Jr. on Rivals' list is Joey O'Brien from La Salle College (Glenside, PA), who helped lead a defense that only gave up 127 points in 11 games last season. The top safety prospect thought he was going to be enrolling at Oregon until he visited South Bend and fell in love with the atmosphere. The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder is dangerous playing offense as well, as he caught 68 passes for 1,029 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2024.

Donegan will face rising Tennessee sophomore Jackson Herrington, a 4-and-2 winner over Jimmy Abdo of Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. 'I didn't play too well today,' Herrington said. 'I was pretty mad at myself for that. I felt like I kept him in it a little too long, but I got the job done.' Herrington and Donegan were among the 17 players who advanced from a 20-man playoff Wednesday morning to determine the final 64 for match play. Donegan's father, Lawrence, was a longtime golf correspondent for The Guardian. In the other semifinal, Georgia teen Mason Howell will face Oklahoma State junior Eric Lee. They each won their matches 1 up, with the 18-year-old Howell beating John Daly II, and Lee edging 16-year-old Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. 'I like the fact that it's just me and one other guy,' Lee said. 'I don't really need to worry about what I shot. Just need to worry about beating the other guy.' Howell qualified for the U.S. Open this year with rounds of 63-63 from the Atlanta sectional. Daly, a senior-to-be at Arkansas, is the son of two-time major champion John Daly. ___

Former MSU running back Nathan Carter scores long touchdown for the Atlanta Falcons
It's been a big night for Spartans in the NFL. Shortly after former MSU defensive back and current member of the Tennessee Titans, Kendell Brooks took an interception all the way for a touchdown, Nathan Carter fired back and broke a huge run for a 43-yard touchdown for his Atlanta Falcons. Carter, who, like Brooks, is vying for a roster spot in the NFL, managed to take what looked like a simple inside handoff, found a seam, and showed some nice top-end speed to take it all the way to the end zone. UNC football lands top 100 recruit in 2026 class
Bill Belichick lands another big recruit Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels continue to prep for the 2025 season with kickoff against TCU just under three weeks away. While this is the first year under Belichick, the program will really start to feel his impact in terms of recruiting in the 2026 class. And the Tar Heels just added another big piece to that 2026 class. On Friday, the Tar Heels secured a commitment from top 100 player C.J. Sadler as he ended his recruitment and picked North Carolina. The four-star athlete picked the Tar Heels over his other finalists, Colorado, Maryland, and Michigan. The Michigan native is the top recruit in the state and a top 100 player overall, giving UNC their second-highest-rated recruit in the Belichick era behind only quarterback Travis Burgess. With Sadler being listed as an athlete, the plan is for him to play defensive back, wide receiver and be a return man for the Tar Heels per 247Sports. The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Sadler is ranked No. 85 nationally, the No. 8 athlete, and No. 1 player in the state of Michigan per the 247Sports rankings. With his commitment, UNC now has the No. 17 overall class for the 2026 cycle.
