Creighton adds MEAC POY Blake Harper from portal
April 28 - Howard guard Blake Harper, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, announced he is transferring to Creighton.
As a freshman, Harper made an immediate impact in the MEAC, leading the conference in scoring at 19.5 points per game and adding 6.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest.
Harper, who's listed at 6-foot-8, also shot 40.4 percent from 3-point range, making 40 of 99 shots from the arc in 2024-25.
Harper follows a pair of Iowa starters to Omaha, as forward Owen Freeman (16.7 ppg last season) and guard Josh Dix (14.4) left the Hawkeyes for the Bluejays after Iowa fired coach Fran McCaffery this offseason. Creighton also signed Charlotte transfer guard Nik Graves (17.5).

Caitlin Clark is seen going berserk on the soccer field after being denied what she felt was a legitimate goal in shocking footage from her days at high school. The WNBA sensation - who attended Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines, Iowa - played two seasons of varsity soccer as a freshman before shifting her focus to basketball. In her short-lived career, she excelled as a soccer player and was even named to the 2017 Class 3A All-Iowa girls' team. Recent footage also emerged on social media of her impressive highlight reel in the sport, which left fans wondering what may have been if she stuck with it. Yet in a new video from her soccer career for Dowling, Clark appears to be having a far less enjoyable time. The clip, posted on X by Clark fan @clrkszn, shows the Indiana Fever guard having a full-blown meltdown on the field after a referee deemed one of her shots at goal had not crossed the line. She first picks up the ball over on the left-hand side after spinning past a defender, before producing some tidy footwork to beat three defenders and move into the box. After pulling the trigger, the ball seems to fly past the goalkeeper and just about cross the line before hitting a frame on the inside of the goal and bouncing back out. Clark and her teammates can then be seen gesturing animatedly to the referee, who ignores their protests and rules that the ball had not crossed the line. It's at that point when the future women's basketball icon loses her cool and begins jumping up and down while waving her arms around in frustration, before throwing them down and smacking the floor as one of her teammates tries to calm her down. According to the high school athletics site MaxPreps, Clark played a total of 27 soccer games across her freshman and sophomore years - registering 42 goals and three assists. But her basketball career in high school, of course, proved much more successful - as she averaged 28 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in 91 appearances. She was recruited for that sport much more heavily in high school and therefore made the choice to drop soccer despite her success on the field. And the rest really is history as far as that decision is concerned, with Clark leading Iowa to consecutive national championship game appearances at college level after spurning Notre Dame to stay closer to home. She then went on to get drafted first overall by the Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft and has since helped lead a revolution in viewership for women's basketball. Clark recently began her second season up in the big leagues after setting a host of records in her rookie campaign, with Indiana going 3-4 in their first seven games. However, the 23-year-old is currently out of action while recovering from a quad injury.

Orioles reinstate OF Colton Cowser after thumb fracture
June 3 - The Baltimore Orioles reinstated outfielder Colton Cowser from the 60-day injured list during Monday's off day, while utility man Cooper Hummel was designated for assignment. Cowser, 25, played in just four games this season before he fractured his left thumb diving into first base. He opened the season 2-for-16 with a home run. During a breakout rookie season in 2024, the left-handed hitter delivered 24 home runs with 69 RBIs in 153 games with a .242 batting average and a .768 OPS. He finished second in American League Rookie of the Year voting. Hummel, 30, was signed as a free agent by the Orioles in 2025 and had just one at-bat. He played 10 games at Triple-A in the New York Yankees' organization earlier this season. The reprimand in the closing stages of the series' Fourth Round – the Detroit Grand Prix – meant Harper and his Paul Miller Racing team-mate Max Hesse crossed the line seventh. It was meted out by stewards after Hesse was deemed to have made contact with one of the Fords as he attempted to find a way past, with the penalty costing them valuable time. Despite struggling to get their BMW M4 GT3 in the right operating window on the low-grip, street-based circuit, they still managed to bag a second-row start for the 100-minute race. That laid the foundations for a potential high points haul and even a silverware challenge – and Harper started in positive fashion as he moved ahead of the sister Paul Miller Racing car when the lights went out. He maintained the position throughout his stint before he handed the reins to Hesse, who kept up his push for a spot in the winners' enclosure. However, the coming-together with the Ford saw both drivers' good work come to nought and leave them provisionally sixth in the standings on 1128 points after four rounds – 170 in arrears of AO Racing Porche duo Klaus Bachler and Laurin Heinrich who lead the table. 'It was a disappointing race to end a tricky few days in Detroit,' reflected the Hillsborough man. 'We struggled through free practice on Friday as we tried to get the car in the right window on the low-grip circuit and could not quite match the pace of our GTD Pro rivals. 'Qualifying in fourth was better than we expected, we were happy with that, and the race started well, getting into the top three, but unfortunately, it slowly unravelled from there. 'Quicker cars were able to jump ahead on pit stop strategy, and then a small mistake from Max led to contact and a penalty. We salvaged some points with seventh, though, and we will push for more next time out,' added Harper, who is next in action across the Atlantic later in June at the 3.4-mile Watkins Glen International circuit in the state of New York. In their own backyard, Ford was handed a popular GTD Pro triumph thanks to the No.46 crew of Seb Priaulx and Mike Rockenfeller. They steered their Multimatic Motorsports-run Mustang GT3 to a 1.623-second win from the No.3 Corvette Racing and Pratt Miller Motorsports Corvette Z06 GT3.R co-driven by Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims. Pfaff Motorsports' Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 was the last of the podium finishers.
