TRNSMT warning as NHS bosses urge revellers to keep safe with temperatures to soar
With temperatures set to soar to a blistering 29C today and 27C tomorrow, gig-goers are told to look after themselves and stay hydrated during the heatwave. Thousands of music fans descending on Glasgow Green for Scotland's biggest music festival are being urged to keep safe in the sun. With temperatures set to soar to a blistering 29C today and 27C tomorrow, health bosses warned revellers heading to TRNSMT to look after themselves and stay hydrated during the heatwave. Director of public health at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Dr Emilia Crichton advised people to cover up to avoid sunburn and sunstroke throughout the event. She added: 'This weekend is looking like a great time to get outside for warmer weather. No matter what you're doing, please enjoy the good weather safely by protecting yourself when in the sun, staying hydrated, and having common medicines to hand. 'We know tens of thousands of people will be heading to TRNSMT and we hope everyone has a fantastic time. 'We ask festival-goers to look after themselves and others so everyone can enjoy the event safely.' The Met Office has said the current heatwave will last longer than the one experienced earlier this summer, and will cover a larger part of Scotland. Kilmarnock rockers Biffy Clyro will headline the festival today while Fontaines DC, The Kooks and Sigrid will also play. Indie artist Jake Bugg will play the King Tut's Stage, which will be headlined by Underworld. Gates open at 12pm, with a packed schedule of performances across all four stages. The festival will finish on Sunday night with Northern Irish-Scottish outfit Snow Patrol headlining.
