Emmerdale icon set to quit the Dales days after co-star's exit was confirmed and shock cheating plot
AN Emmerdale icon could be poised to quit the Dales forever after signalling his attention to move away. The ITV soap could be about to lose one of its biggest characters after Aaron Dingle decided he wanted to make a fresh start away from the village. 3 3 In today's episode, fans saw Aaron wrestle with his guilt after cheating on husband John with his ex and John's brother, Robert. Aaron and Robert gave into temptation on the soap leading Robert to assume that Aaron wanted to get back with him. It saw Robert with a spring in his step as he discussed with Aaron how they would break the news to John. However, he was blissfully unaware that Aaron was in fact regretting the decision and was already feeling awful for betraying John. It led Aaron to make a huge decision as he sat John down for a chat. He told his husband that they should get a "fresh start" away from Robert and the Dales and they should move away for good. He insisted on them leaving the next day to stay somewhere for a couple of weeks with the intention to remain there should they like it. Unbeknown to Aaron, this came at a perfect timing for John with the Police deciding to re-evalute the cause of Nate Robinson's death after vital new information came to light which proved that someone faked the suicide note of Nate's apparent killer. Fearing he could be caught by the police, John accepted Aaron's decision to call it quits on the Dales and they headed straight to the pub to tell their nearest and dearest. Aaron said to his mum: "If we like the area [we are going], we are gonna stay on." Emmerdale's John Sugden makes twisted accusation in a bid to get rid of brother Robert ahead of exit As Chas thought they meant just a few weeks, John clarified: "Actually, we were thinking of something more long-term." Aaron added: "We need a fresh start so, we are moving away!" It could spend the end of time for Aaron in the village with his heart set on going for good. This bombshell episode comes just days after it was confirmed that John Sugden would be making a certain exit very soon with actor Oliver Farnworth leaving the role. The Sun told last week how John's final scenes would play out very soon. A source said: 'It's the beginning of the end for John. He's got away with so much but he's about to make a fatal mistake that sees him exposed for what he is. 'Obviously Oliver knew that a character like John had a shelf life and that's rapidly approaching. 'He's loved his time on the show but there's still plenty of twists and turns coming before he departs for good.' The Sun exclusively revealed last week how the soap had filmed devastating murder scenes for Mackenzie Boyd as Oliver's character John strikes again. A source said: 'The scenes are going to be really harrowing for fans to watch. 'Mackenzie has been in so many scrapes and dangerous positions but this time it looks like he's bitten off more than he can chew. 'Viewers will be on the edges of their seats watching what happens.' 3

'Proudest of days!' Emmerdale legend reveals she is now 10 years sober
Emmerdale's Lisa Riley has shared a message on her social media confirming she has now been sober for 10 years. The beloved star is best known for her role as Mandy Dingle in the ITV soap. Lisa is very active on X and Instagram, often posting snippets of her life away from Emmerdale. Today, she shared a heartfelt post on both platforms that reveals she hasn't drunk alcohol for ten years. On Instagram, Lisa wrote in the caption: 'This momentous day today marks a milestone, which I'm insanely proud of. I would never have believed if you had said this to me years ago…as I poured another glass of Malbec…I'm 10 years sober today!!!' 'My life is the clearest, happiest, it's precious to me, REALLY precious, to have the clarity, the real, the genuine, no BS, just real, from the moment I wake up, until i fall asleep at night. 'Now fair enough I might not be for everyone (and that's absolutely fine) but I'm enough for me, because I don't hide behind alcohol, I don't lie that I'm happy attending something I don't want to be at, and the biggest, is leaving somewhere because I'm ready to leave, not tolerating nonsense. She added: 'I hid behind booze for so so so many years of my life, now I fly free, and I've never ever, ever felt better!!! Cheers everyone…….feels bloody ace!!!' Last year, ahead of her celebrating 9 years sober, Lisa spoke to Ranvir Singh on Lorraine about her decision to cut alcohol from her life: 'I'm going to be nine years sober,' she said. 'I just stopped drinking for the good and better for me, I prefer me. Ranvir asked: 'What was it for you if you don't mind me asking, that was like I don't want to do this anymore?' Lisa replied: 'I was self medicating. I know that with alcohol. I wasn't sleeping because I lost my mum, and I wasn't coping very well. 'A bottle and a half two bottles of Malbec helped completely in those times, I never thought that I'd be here now and I love it.' Lisa first rocked up on our screens as the feisty but loveable Mandy in 1995 before leaving the Dales six years later. Thankfully she reprised her role in 2019 and has been on our screens ever since. Mandy Dingle is married to Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt). They live at Tenants, and recently decided to let vulnerable homeless teenager Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) stay with them. Things got a bit awkward for Mandy though, as she walked into the house moments after Dylan had slept with his friend April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan). April begged Mandy not to say anything to Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), but that really didn't last long. Mandy told Marlon, and gently helped him come to terms with that he's been struggling to accept his little girl isn't so little anymore. More Trending Elsewhere, Mandy's son Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) is in the middle of a storyline that's seen him try and come to terms with his sexuality. Whereabouts of missing Coronation Street character ahead of star's re-cast
A young Coronation Street actor has departed the show, meaning another new face will soon join the cast. Carter-J Murphy joined the ITV soap as Harry Platt towards the end of last year. The character was born in 2016 and is the son of Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and villain Callum Logan. Callum was killed by Kylie Platt before Harry was born, and his body was buried underneath the annex at No.8. After Harry's birth, the body was discovered, and Sarah was hospitalised for postnatal psychosis, having believed that Callum was still alive. Carter-J has only played the role for a handful of episodes, as an amazing opportunity has seen the young star depart the show. It's said the actor has been cast in Matilda the Musical and due to the fact he couldn't juggle the tour and filming for Corrie, he has left. Prior to Carter-J playing Harry, twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes portrayed the role. Also according to The Sun, an actor called Josh has taken over the role, with his first scenes expected to air within the coming weeks. Carter-J made his screen debut in 2024 in the new Robbie Williams biopic, Better Man, playing a younger version of the singer himself. Harry's absence, due to the recast, was referenced on screen last night, with Sarah revealing that she'd sent him to holiday club. Harry was apparently unhappy with this arrangement, as all of his other friends have been on family holidays. Another Platt family member was recast earlier this year, with a star called Grace Ashcroft-Gardner taking over the role as Lily Platt. The actress made her debut in a dramatic episode that saw Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) escape prison and storm Weatherfield High School in search of his daughter Joanie Michaelis (Savannah Pennington). As students realised what was going on, they went in search of safety in locked classrooms. Lily's cousin, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan), ran through the corridor and arrived at the door Lily was on the other side of. Sam banged the door, desperate for Lily to open it but she was consumed with fear, meaning she completely froze. In the aftermath of this, Sam struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. The ordeal also reminded him of how his mother Natasha died. In 2022, Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) escaped from prison and went in search of revenge on Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson). He pulled the trigger on a gun, believing he was shooting Leanne, but realised moments later that it wasn't her. Sam's mum Natasha later died in hospital. Newcomer Grace has taken over the role from young actress Brooke Malonie, who had played Lily since 2016. Taking to Instagram last month, Grace shared her excitement at joining the ITV soap. Alongside several behind-the-scenes pictures, she wrote: 'I am so excited to share my news that I have joined the cast of Coronation Street playing the role of Lily Platt!' She went on to thank her management saying: 'It's been a brilliant few months since my first audition, which wouldn't have happened without the fantastic Stagebox team (who I can't thank enough!). More Trending 'The whole Corrie team, the cast and crew have been absolutely amazing, I couldn't have asked for any more support during my first few weeks filming on the cobbles,' she continued, before urging her followers to watch her first episodes. Lily is David Platt's only daughter, who he shared with Kylie Platt before she was tragically murdered in emotional scenes. View More » This article was originally published August 14, 2025. Moira destroyed in early Emmerdale ITVX release as two characters bring her down
The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) has been royally played by Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) in Emmerdale. Struggling as a result of multiple fines, Moira very nearly gave up her role at Butlers Farm when Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) swooped in with a tempting offer. She turned it down when she discovered that Joe had paid Noel from the water company to decline her appeal. This was a sign that the flame inside Moira was still burning – but it sadly got quite a bit smaller in the latest episode. Celia popped by Moira's and revealed an update regarding their contract at a local hotel. Celia, recognising the financial pressures both women are under, previously pitched a partnership. She suggested they combine forces: Moira would supply beef from her farm, while Celia would market and sell her poultry products to a reliable supplier. The plan aimed to increase income for both and provide stability amid tough market conditions. Celia explained that her outgoings have increased by £1000 a month thanks to her sly landlord, and she was aware of Moira's financial position. She saw a win-win opportunity for both women to solve both their problems. The deal with the hotel left Moira hopeful that it wouldn't be long until Butlers Farm was back on track. Sadly, Celia returned a few hours later with some devastating news. The plan was no longer going ahead, which meant Moira had lost thousands of pounds. Celia felt awful, knowing she had put Moira in this position because the partnership was her idea. A while later though, we saw Celia again, and where she was standing very much proved she didn't feel the tiniest bit sorry for Moira. The new face was visiting Home Farm to see Joe. It was then confirmed in that moment that she is working with Joe and Kim Tate (Claire King) as part of their plan to buy all of the land that surrounds Home Farm. Celia confirmed the plot had been completed. As far as she was concerned, Moira made a massive error by agreeing to the deal so quickly and barely looking at the contract. Joe was thrilled. It was a brutal twist and even Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) was horrified, though not enough to change the status of her and Joe's relationship. Who are we to judge. With Joe keen to make Kim proud, he isn't going to stop until the plan is finished. When it comes to the fate of Butlers, Moira certainly should've known better, but going into Celia's deal with her eyes shut was clearly a sign of how desperate she had become. The gamble has not paid off. Is she about to walk away from farm life for good? Celia Daniels made her arrival to the ITV soap in June. Her first scenes were with Moira, but she then became part of a story that saw Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) attacked by a dog that was on her farmland. More Trending In the aftermath, Paddy took a bolt gun from the vets and went to the spot where the dog attacked him. He was found by Celia, who said that she had shot the stray dog already. Celia got the upper hand in this conversation and scared Paddy away by practically screaming in his face. With his self-esteem low, Paddy unleashed his anger on his dad and said it would be better if he no longer lived with them. It was a brief plot with Celia, but she made quite the impact in a very short space of time. She proved that she did not care what other people thought of her, because making enemies in the village is far more enjoyable to her than making friends. EastEnders legend slams soap after joining rival ITV show
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) EMMERDALE star Joe Absolom has slammed the BBC for its treatment of its actors when he was previously starred in the soap. The actor - who plays villain Ray Walters in the ITV soap - shot to fame in rival soap EastEnders as Matthew Rose. 2 Emmerdale star Joe Absolom has slammed his former soap EastEnders Credit: ITV 2 The star appeared in the BBC soap for three years Credit: BBC He played the beloved character for three years between 1997 and 2000 before quitting the soap. And it took him a quarter of a century to agree to return to soap after the experience - but this time, he says, is much better. 'Yeah, it's really good,' he told The Sun. 'Everyone's really nice. They really look after you, much better than the BBC did. 'When I was on EastEnders, it was like, 'Right, that's your time, see you then'. 'It was like a job, which is fine. But this is like, they look after me, they put me in a nice place, they pick me up. 'It's really nice. Everyone's very nice. I get my own cup, yeah, I got a pass. I can get into the building whenever I want.' He added: 'I got lost already today. And then Brad came out and showed me where I was going. 'Everyone's very nice, yeah.' But it's not just EastEnders as a show he's taken aim at - he wasn't particularly impressed with the casts of other soaps at the time either. New Emmerdale star Joe Absolom takes a savage swipe at EastEnders 25 years after quitting soap Joe added: 'And I remember when we did EastEnders I remember meeting all the other casts from the soaps and Emmerdale, always, by far the nicest bunch of people. 'Hollyoaks were like footballers, Coronation Street were quite, I don't know, they were never particularly friendly, but Emmerdale, I remember everyone in EastEnders at the time saying Emmerdale were the nicest bunch. 'And now I'm here and I've met them. I believe that's true.'
