Yerawada to Katraj twin tunnel: PMRDA gets tenders from 3 firms for pre-feasibility report
Pune: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority ( PMRDA ) is nearing the selection of a consultant to prepare a pre-feasibility report for the proposed 20km Yerawada-Katraj twin tunnel project, which is aimed to ease traffic congestion between Pune's northern and southern regions. "We received tenders from three firms for preparing the pre-feasibility report. After scrutiny, we will select the most suitable firms to develop the report prior to the detailed project report," PMRDA commissioner Yogesh Mhase told TOI on Saturday. The tunnel project received preliminary approval about three months back during a meeting chaired by CM Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai, where Fadnavis recommended implementing the tunnel design with modern construction technologies. The pre-feasibility study will include traffic surveys, environmental and social impact assessments, geotechnical surveys, land acquisition planning and public consultations with residents and stakeholders. Additional analyses will cover traffic demand estimates, topographic surveys, hydrology studies, tunnel boring challenges, impacts on existing infrastructure, and safety considerations. The report will also explore potential toll fees and evaluate the project's viability under different public-private partnership models. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like They Lost Their Money - Learn From Their Lesson Expertinspector Click Here Undo Estimated to cost about Rs 400 crore per kilometre, the twin tunnel design will accommodate traffic in both directions.
