In 2018, NASCAR offered a unique challenge to its Cup Series drivers. The governing body promised the best pit stall, also called the number one pit stall, to any driver willing to follow a vegan diet for one month.
During that season, Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup Series champion from Las Vegas, was asked about this unusual offer in Jeff Gluck's famous '12 Questions' interview. Even with such a big racing advantage on the table, Kyle Busch clearly said he would not give up his diet for this deal.
Kyle Busch said 'No' to switching diets during NASCAR's 2018 season
The moment came during Jeff Gluck's sit-down interview in 2018, when he asked Kyle Busch if he would change his diet plans for the number one pit stall.
Busch, who was driving full-time in the Cup Series then, gave a sharp answer. He said, 'If it was for more than one week.'
When Jeff Gluck pushed him further, asking if he would do it even for a single race weekend, Kyle Busch quickly responded,
'No. No, no. I haven't won enough poles in my career that I think that's mattered, where I've ever won a race because I had the No. 1 pit box. So, no, I wouldn't swap.'
At the time of that interview, the Las Vegas-born driver had already built a successful Cup career.

As of today, Kyle Busch has recorded 63 career wins, 253 top-five finishes, and 389 top-10 finishes in 739 Cup Series starts. He also has 33 pole positions. Away from the Cup Series, he has been dominant in the Xfinity Series with 102 career wins, 267 top-10s, and 70 poles.
This shows Busch has never been fully reliant on pit stall placement for wins, and his refusal to go vegan made clear how strongly he values sticking to his normal lifestyle.

Kyle Busch's 2025 views on NASCAR's changing schedule
Kyle Busch's opinions are not only strong about diets but also about NASCAR's direction. In June 2025, before the EchoPark race, Busch spoke with Frontstretch Media about the schedule changes.
He said NASCAR's decision to add different tracks to the Cup Series is good for attracting fresh fans. Busch explained,
'I think the schedule having variation is really cool. I think that's great. It gives you a little more diversity within your fan base in the areas of the country that you can go races.'
He pointed to new ideas like racing in Mexico, returning to Chicagoland Speedway, or even adding San Diego. Busch believes mixing classic tracks with new venues brings in new supporters while keeping long-time fans engaged.
So far in the 2025 season, Kyle Busch has 25 starts with seven top-10 and two top-five finishes. He currently sits 16th in the Cup Series points standings with 537 points but is still searching for his first win of the year to guarantee a spot in the playoffs.
