NFL unveils full preseason slate, including five national broadcasts
May 29 (UPI) -- The NFL announced its full preseason schedule Thursday, including five games that will be broadcast nationally. The Los Angeles Chargers and Detroit Lions will launch the 49-game slate with the 2025 Hall of Fame Game at 8 p.m. EDT July 31 in Canton, Ohio. It will air on NBC. The Baltimore Ravens will host the Indianapolis Colts in the first week of league-wide preseason action at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 in Baltimore. The Chicago Bears will host the Buffalo Bills at 8 p.m. Aug. 17 in Chicago and it willl air on Fox. The Washington Commanders will host the Cincinnati Bengals at 8 pm. Aug. 18 in Landover, Md., to be shown on ESPN. New York Giants will host the New England Patriots at 8 p.m. Aug. 21 on Prime Video. The Tennessee Titans will host the Minnesota Vikings at 8 p.m. Aug. 22 on CBS. Saquon Barkley and the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles will kick off the 2025-26 NFL regular season against the Dallas Cowboys at 8:20 p.m. Sept. 4 in Philadelphia. The Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers will meet July 31 in the 2025 Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, as part of enshrinement week. Antonio Gates, who spent his entire career as a tight end with the Chargers (2003-2018), is among the enshrinees to the 2025 class. The game will be played in Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton and televised by NBC Sports. The Lions will serve as the home team. 'This game features two teams that can be considered legitimate contenders to reach Super Bowl LX next February,' said Jim Porter, president and CEO of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. 'For them to face each other right out of the gate in Canton, Ohio, should create a dynamic opening to another spectacular NFL season.' This will be the fourth appearance in the exhibition game for the Lions and the third for the Chargers, but the first for both since 1994. Lions and Chargers set to kick off 2025 NFL Preseason in Hall of Fame Game Lions and Chargers to Clash in 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame GameThe Pro Football Hall of Fame announced that the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers will face off in the 2025 Hall of Fame Game, kicking off the NFL preseason on July 31 at 8 p.m. ET at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. This matchup marks a significant moment for both franchises, as neither has played in the game in over three decades, 1991 for the Lions and 1994 for the Chargers. The game celebrates the 2025 Hall of Fame class, headlined by Chargers legend tight end Antonio Gates, the franchise's all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. Joining Gates are inductees defensive back Eric Allen, defensive end Jared Allen, and wide receiver Sterling Sharpe, whose enshrinement follows on August 2. The class of four is the smallest since 2005, and is the 19th time in the Hall of Fame's history a class has been composed of four enshrinees since 1970. The Hall of Fame's membership now stands at 382, including the newly elected class. Tickets will go on sale April 28.

CANTON, OHIO – The Detroit Lions will play host to the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2025 Hall of Fame Game presented by Novartis at 8 p.m. ET Thursday, July 31, in Canton as part of Enshrinement Week presented by Novartis. The matchup, which kicks off the National Football League's 106th season in the city where the League was born, will take place in Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium – adjacent to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. NBC Sports will return as broadcast partner, airing the game live on NBC and Peacock with Mike Tirico (play-by-play), Cris Collinsworth (analyst), Melissa Stark (sideline reporter) and Terry McAulay (rules analyst) as the on-air crew in Canton.
