Michigan football prepares for a key 2026 CB prospect visit on June 6, named in top 5

Michigan football prepares for a key 2026 CB prospect visit on June 6, named in top 5 In just days, Michigan football recruiting for the summer will heat up in a big way with May 30 marking the start of the official visit slate to Ann Arbor. With that, the Wolverines will look to considerably grow its 2026 class, which currently sits at seven commitments. It'll be just over a week, but the maize and blue are expected to host one of their top targets on campus, though there is considerable competition for his services. Thus, getting him to Ann Arbor could play a significant role determining whether or not he ends up as part of the class or if he heads elsewhere. Khary Adams sets visit date, top five schools Michigan football is in strong consideration for 2026 Towson (Md.) Loyola Blakefield four-star cornerback Khary Adams, a 6-foot-2, 175-pounder who is looking at some of the top schools across the country. Rated the No. 36 player in the country according to 247Sports' proprietary rankings, he has a top five of Michigan, Penn State, Oregon, Notre Dame, and South Carolina. He is set to make his way to Ann Arbor for an official visit on June 6. Penn State currently has the edge according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball as well as the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Scouting report The scouting report on Adams via 247Sports: Debuted in the initial 2026 Top247 rankings in April 2024 before receiving a football scholarship offer. Freakshow track athlete with personal bests of 21.50 (2.1) in the 200, 10.74 (3.0) in the 100, and 6.45 in the 55-meter dash at a verified 6-foot-2, 175 pound billing. Three-phase playmaker who made a noticeable jump in production on both sides of the ball as a junior. Owns the physical specs to erase receivers in man coverage, along with the top-end speed to recover and make plays on the ball at the catch point. Much more comfortable as a junior in zone coverage; will frequently dart into passing lanes and close quickly on ball carriers. Consistently creates chunk plays with the ball in his hands in the return game and at receiver. One of the higher-upside prospects from the DMV in a loaded 2026 cycle. Should be viewed as a toolsy prospect with Round 1 NFL Draft traits who is baking into a potential difference maker for a College Football Playoff contender. Michigan currently has one cornerback tentatively committed in the 2026 class in Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star Brody Jennings. However, Jennings has had a wandering eye in recent months and it's unclear whether or not he'll end up in the class.

Michigan football offers 4-star RB Carsyn Baker, visits Savion Hiter for 2026 class

Michigan football offers 4-star RB Carsyn Baker, visits Savion Hiter for 2026 class For a long while, it appeared that Michigan football would end up with two top 10 running backs in the 2026 class. Now the Wolverines are still wooing their top target, but the other -- Forney (Tx.) four-star tailback Javian Osborne -- ended up committing to Notre Dame over the maize and blue earlier this month. It's clear that the Wolverines are looking for two backs this cycle, and are still in the thick of it for a few prospects. But the board is expanding, and a new offer for a four-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class went out on Tuesday. Michigan offers a new four-star RB in the 2026 class Though other pursuits continue (more on that later) the Wolverines are not sitting by idly. Per his X account, Michigan offered 2026 Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star running back Carsyn Baker. Though 247Sports' proprietary rankings have Baker as a three-star, the other recruiting services are higher on him. He's listed highest by On3, which has him at No. 136 overall and the 10th-best running back. He's rated No. 181 overall according to the 247Sports Composite. Though he has no 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions as of yet, Ohio State is the perceived favorite for Baker at this time. Also a track star, Baker ran the 100-meter dash in 10.65 seconds. Michigan visits its top target on Tuesday Wolverines running backs coach Tony Alford is quite busy now that Michigan's self-imposed recruiting restrictions have come to an end. Just one day after coaches hit the road, Alford was spotted at Mineral (Va.) Louisa County to visit five-star tailback Savion Hiter, who has long been seen as the big fish and top overall target in the 2026 class. Michigan has been in hot pursuit of Hiter since Alford defected from Ohio State last year, but the Buckeyes are still working hard for him to come to Columbus. The Wolverines are also targeting Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek four-star Amari Latimer, but Wisconsin has a prediction according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball.

Michigan battles Texas, Georgia for 2026 4-star safety Chace Calicut's commitment

Michigan battles Texas, Georgia for 2026 4-star safety Chace Calicut's commitment Michigan football might be known for a few premium position groups -- running back, offensive line, and defensive line particularly stand out. But safety has quietly been a plus unit for the Wolverines in recent years. Players like Lano Hill, Josh Metellus, and Dax Hill have all gone from the maize and blue to the NFL in recent years, while the depth inside the room of late -- Rod Moore, Makari Paige, and Quinten Johnson -- helped keep the middle of the defensive backfield secure. Now the Wolverines are looking for the next group after bringing in three four-stars in 2025. And they're looking good for one player who pretty much the whole nation covets. Chace Calicut reveals top three schools It will be a tough pull if the Michigan Wolverines can do it, but 2026 Houston (Tx.) North Shore four-star safety Chace Calicut is an elite defensive back, ranked No. 161 overall according to the 247Sports Composite. He dropped his top three schools over the weekend, and it's Michigan, Texas, and Georgia. Michigan was supposed to get the final visit on June 20, but Calicut changed his plans and will be in Ann Arbor a week earlier. Texas has been considered the favorite and has three 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions. However, it's seen as a Wolverines-Longhorns battle, so the maize and blue will have a chance to grow an insurmountable lead before Calicut visits Austin. Recent defensive back recruiting Calicut is listed at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds and is rated highest on Rivals at No. 54 overall. Michigan has actually done a more solid job recruiting safeties than it has cornerbacks in recent years, though Will Johnson was indeed a five-star corner. As noted, the Wolverines brought in three four-star safeties this past cycle -- Kainoa Winston, Elijah Dotson, and Jordan Young -- and also got a few high-end transfers at the position, such as TJ Metcalf and Jaden Mangham. It may take some work on his official visit to get Calicut to view Ann Arbor as superior to Austin and Athens, but Michigan, at least, has a fighting chance.

2026 recruits who have been predicted to commit to Michigan football

Michigan football recruiting is heating up and it's set to heat up much more in about a month when the Wolverines start hosting official visitors to Ann Arbor. The maize and blue got a couple of commitments over the weekend in four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel and three-star edge rusher Tariq Boney, and that got us asking: who might be next? Advertisement Taking a look at the 2026 recruits who have 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for the Wolverines as of current, we note where Michigan appears to stand and which players could end up wearing a winged helmet when all is said and done. Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph's Prep three-star DL Alexander Haskell There hasn't been much discussion about Haskell and Michigan football but The Michigan Insider's Sam Webb did put in a prediction in mid-April indicating he'd become a Wolverine. Duke, Penn State, and Syracuse appear to be his other suitors. Denver (Colo.) Mullen three-star tight end Mason Bonner Michigan is in on a few tight ends and is looking to take more than one this cycle -- which is relatively usual. In fact, it wouldn't surprise if it took three, depending on the talent. 247Sports' Steve Lorenz put in this pick in mid-April. Minnesota, Nebraska, and Texas Tech appear to be the other contenders. Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day four-star interior offensive lineman Leo Delaney The former high school teammate of Jadyn Davis and Channing Goodwin just set a decision date of July 11 and dropped a top four of Michigan, Tennessee, Penn State, and Clemson. It appears to be a battle between the Wolverines and Vols with each school getting a prediction in the month of April. Billings (Mont.) West four-star tight end Matt Ludwig Perhaps the top tight end on the Wolverines' board this cycle, Ludwig comes from a very underscouted region of the country, and is yet a four-star -- much like Colston Loveland was. He has two predictions he'll end up in Ann Arbor -- one from a Huskers' writer in April and another from Steve Lorenz. Georgia, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Texas Tech appear to be the other contenders. Needham (Mass.) St. Sebastian's three-star offensive tackle Marky Walbridge The Wolverines can take some flyers on the outside this cycle with two five-stars having pledged in 2025. Michigan already has one lineman committed in Bear McWhorter, who's more of an interior player. Steve Lorenz put in this pick in March. Forney (Tx.) four-star running back Javian Osborne Michigan had appeared to be in the pole position for Osborne for nearly a year, but Notre Dame has surged and is considered the favorite. The Wolverines do appear to still lead (though there's no predictions as of yet) for five-star Savion Hiter, but there's still a lot of time left in that one. Honolulu (Hawaii) Kamehameha four-star offensive tackle Malakai Lee Lee visited for the USC game last year and has been back (Grant Newsome has also been to Hawaii to see him). Perhaps the biggest priority lineman of this cycle, other sites have been putting in predictions for him to end up in Ann Arbor lately, but Steve Lorenz did back in Oct. 2024. Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and BYU all appear involved. On3 predictions On3 has a bit of a different system. While reporters can put in predictions, the system also gives percentages using AI to determine who might end up in the class. Advertisement Here is who On3 currently predicts: Tucker (Ga.) three-star S Djimon McClendon (48.6% - no predictions) Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga five-star EDGE Carter Meadows (40% - no predictions) Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day four-star IOL Leo Delaney (77.5% - 1 prediction) Torrance (Calif.) Bishop Montgomery four-star LB Kenneth Goodwin III (27.4% - no predictions) Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy College Prep three-star WR Devin Fitzgerald (31.1% - no predictions) Peoria (Ariz.) Liberty three-star LB Hudson Dunn (48.5% - no predictions) Richmond (Va.) Hermitage four-star S Andre Clarke (25.2% - no predictions) There was a prediction on 247Sports for Novi (Mich.) Catholic Central tight end Jack Janda made last June by Lorenz, but we've heard nothing of that recruitment at this time.
