Camila Cabello parts ways with longtime manager Roger Gold
Camila Cabello has officially parted ways with her longtime manager, Roger Gold, as per Billboard. Gold, who has managed Cabello since the beginning of her solo career in 2016, guided the artist through her transition from Fifth Harmony to becoming a solo star. He played a key role in her rise, notably during the release of her debut solo single "Havana" in 2017, which became a chart-topping hit. Cabello's success continued with hits such as "Señorita," her collaboration with Shawn Mendes, which also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2019. Before managing Cabello, Gold was instrumental in co-launching the independent label 300 Entertainment, which signed artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Gunna, and Migos. The label was acquired by Warner Music Group in 2021 and later became 300 Elektra Entertainment Group under Atlantic Music Group in 2022. Cabello's most recent project, her fourth album C,XOXO, peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and marked her first release under Geffen and Interscope after leaving Epic Records, the label where she started her career with Fifth Harmony. In a 2024 Billboard cover story, Gold shared insights into Cabello's artistic journey, emphasizing her commitment to creative freedom, despite the pressures of the music industry. Gold will continue to manage other clients under Gold Music Management, while Cabello embarks on the next phase of her career without his guidance.

Kevin Liles Believes Rape Lawsuit Should Be Dismissed Due To Legal Technicality
Kevin Liles got caught up in the slew of sexual assault lawsuits earlier this year after a former employee sued him for rape. The 57-year-old executive is now hoping to get the case thrown out due to a legal technicality. His former employee, who worked at Def Jam and served as an executive assistant to the general manager, claims he began harassing her in 2000. Allegedly, in 2002, he forced himself on top of her and raped her, despite her denying his sexual advances. She formally pursued litigation in February of this year, but Liles believes he had a strong counter. TMZ reported that the former 300 Entertainment CEO has requested permission to file a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, as he feels that the alleged crime is past the statute of limitations; in New York, where the lawsuit was filed, the statute of limitations is non-existent for first-degree rape, 20 years for second-degree, and 10 years for third-degree. Additionally, he claims that the allegations are 'entirely false' and that the unnamed former employee has not provided sufficient details for the case to move forward. Def Jam and Universal Music Group have been named defendants in the lawsuit, as well. The alleged victim claims that they 'not only knew or should have known' about Liles' proclivity to engage in criminal activity, but they also allegedly enabled him to do so. 'I absolutely deny the outrageous claims reported in the press this evening,' Liles told TMZ when the allegations first came out. 'I wish I could share a more detailed response to this slander, but this is the first I've heard of this claim and the anonymous accuser's attorney shared the lawsuit with gossip influencers and media outlets before it was even posted by the court, so my attorneys and I have not seen the actual lawsuit.' Liles reflected on his '40 years of service to our culture' and how he has 'intentionally built a reputation for doing things the right way, treating people the right way, and empowering women.' The woman's attorney, Lucas B. Franken, believes that this lawsuit will only catalyze more women to come forward with allegations against the former Warner Music Group vice president. Former Def Jam President Kevin Liles Sued for Alleged Sexual Assault
An anonymous Jane Doe plaintiff is suing Universal Music Group, Def Jam Records, and influential music executive Kevin Liles with claims Liles sexually assaulted her while she was working as his executive assistant more than 20 years ago. In a lawsuit filed Thursday in Manhattan, the woman claims she was hired by the corporate defendants in 1999, with Liles acting as her supervisor. She alleges that between 2000 and 2002, Liles sexually harassed her on numerous occasions. According to the lawsuit, Liles allegedly 'pressed his body against [her] breasts,' and 'grabbed [her] on the buttocks.' 'Kevin Liles proceeded to physically force himself on top of [Jane Doe] where he began to sexually assault and ultimately rape her despite her continued protests,' the 21-page lawsuit alleges. The woman was able to file her decades-old claim using a special two-year lookback window under a New York City law that was enacted in 2000 with the aim of allowing victims to sue their attackers and related institutions over alleged gender-motivated violence. The window, which closes Saturday, has allowed plaintiffs to file lawsuits that otherwise had passed the statute of limitations. Attempts to reach Liles and a spokesperson for UMG were not immediately successful Thursday. After his time as president at Def Jam, Liles, 57, went on to become the co-founder and CEO of 300 Entertainment, a label whose artists include Young Thug, Gunna, Fetty Wap, and Mary J. Blige. Liles, who previously testified at a court hearing in an attempt to get Young Thug released on bond during the rapper's RICO prosecution in Atlanta, announced he was stepping down from 300 Entertainment last September. The plaintiff behind the new lawsuit claims UMG and Def Jam should be held liable for her alleged abuse because they 'enabled, permitted, directed, controlled, approved, managed, operated and ratified the manner in which Liles engaged with employees.' She is asking for compensatory and punitive damages to be decided at trial. Lyor Cohen Writes Open Letter to Kanye West: ‘You've Chosen a Path That Sows Discord'
Lyor Cohen, the former president of Def Jam Recordings, has issued an open letter addressed to Kanye West. Cohen is currently YouTube's global head of music and the CEO of 300 Entertainment. West released his debut album, 'The College Dropout,' via Roc-A-Fella and Def Jam in 2004, the same year Cohen left his position as president of the label for Warner Music Group. This follows West's ongoing tirade against Jewish people — this includes everything from the sale of a T-shirt with a swastika on it (and a Super Bowl advertisement for the webstore), to West calling himself a Nazi via X. Read Cohen's letter below: Dear Kanye, I am deeply disappointed and troubled by your recent actions involving the use of Nazi symbols and antisemitic rhetoric. Your words and actions are not only offensive but triggering to all decent people who recognize the horrors of the Holocaust and the suffering of millions. With antisemitism on the rise, your voice and influence carry a significant responsibility. I urge you to be more sensitive to the pain your words inflict on Jewish communities and all those who stand against hate. Your talent and reach could be used to heal and inspire, to bridge divides and promote understanding. Instead, you've chosen a path that sows discord and perpetuates harmful stereotypes. The Jewish and Black experiences share a rich history of collaboration and mutual support, particularly in the music industry. From the early days of jazz and blues to the groundbreaking work of Motown and beyond, our communities have enriched each other through music and culture. I urge you to reflect on this shared legacy and use your platform to build upon the love and understanding that have always existed between our communities.
