Woman accused of driving impaired by 3x over legal limit causes collision in Barrie
A woman accused of getting behind the wheel of a car with a blood alcohol concentration over three times the legal limit was arrested in Barrie Wednesday night. Police say they received information around 9:30 p.m. about a vehicle travelling erratically along Livingstone Street East. Officers say they found the 31-year-old driver stumbling outside of a car that had also reportedly been involved in rear-ending another vehicle on Bayfield Street. The woman was taken to the police station and given a breathalyzer, which police say determined she had been driving impaired. She was charged with impaired operation and later released with a future court date. Additionally, the involved vehicle was impounded for seven days and her licence was suspended for 90 days.

Man re-arrested on child pornography charges at Winnipeg air force base
A man has been taken back into custody, months after he was arrested at a Winnipeg air force base on a charge of invitation to sexual touching and other child pornography-related charges. The 31-year-old was re-arrested Wednesday after police searched a residence at 17 Wing, a Royal Canadian Air Force Base in west Winnipeg, police said in a news release. Multiple electronic devices were seized during the search. He now faces more charges of accessing child pornography and possession of child pornography, as well as seven counts of failure to comply with a release order. The man had been arrested at the base on April 16, following a child pornography investigation. He was accused of photographing an undressed child he knew and uploading the images to social media between May 2018 and April 2019. The man allegedly persuaded the child to engage in sexual activity in 2020. Winnipeg police told CBC News at that point the 31-year-old was not a civilian. He was released under conditions that included not accessing the internet or having access to anyone under 18 years old. Police said they are not naming the man in order to protect the identity of the youth involved.

The Fort McMurray RCMP detachment can be seen in this Google image from 2019. (Google Street View) Mounties say they found a wanted hit-and-run driver already in police custody for unrelated charges. RCMP issued a release looking for a driver in connection with a hit-and-run that seriously hurt a 65-year-old woman on Thursday in Fort McMurray. On Friday, she remained in critical, life-threatening condition. With the help of public tips and resident surveillance footage, RCMP said they were able to identify the vehicle and the suspected driver, who was later found already in police custody awaiting charges for 'other criminal matters.' The driver, a 31-year-old Fort McMurray man, has been charged with failure to stop after an accident causing bodily harm. RCMP did not say what other 'criminal matters' the man is accused of. He remains in custody awaiting a judicial interim hearing.
