Looking to stand out this durian season? Wearing the Hexmariner 39 Durian on your wrist might just do the trick. Watch collectors and durian lovers alike are likely to take notice of this limited-edition timepiece from Malaysian brand Revelot. Set to drop on Friday (July 18), early birds can get their hands on the Hexmariner 39 Durian for RM1,388 (S$417). After that, it retails at RM,1688. It'll be available in limited quantities on and at select Timekeeper outlets. Describing the watch as a "bold tribute to Malaysia's iconic fruit", Revelot is looking to not just celebrate the durian but to also elevate its symbol into something more refined, according to the brand. The watch's dial is deep green, similar to the durian's thorny exterior while the warm yellow indices resemble the fruit's golden flesh and also ensures legibility in low light. A nice touch is the tiny durian-shaped detail that sits towards the end of the second hand. The overall colour palette continues on its bezel, with the durian-green unidirectional ceramic bezel paired with yellow lume-filled markers. Flip the watch over and you'll spot a durian silhouette on the caseback, tying the entire theme together. According to the brand's website, the Hexmariner 39 Durian is fit for daily wear, among other styles.

Minnesota softball sensation racking up unreal strikeout totals

Minnesota softball sensation racking up unreal strikeout totals originally appeared on Bring Me The News. There's a softball pitcher in Minnesota who is putting up jaw-dropping numbers, and there's a very high likelihood that she'll shatter the state record for career strikeouts by the time she graduates from United South Central High School in 2026. Mariah Anderson is a 5-foot-3 superstar who has led her team to the Class A state championship game, and she'll be on the mound for Friday's 6:30 p.m. title tilt against Badger/Greenbush-Middle River. Anderson is 24-1 this season with 388 strikeouts in 170 innings, according to MNSoftballHub. She has 20 shutouts and seven no-hitters, including three perfect games. A stunning 76% of the outs recorded when she's on the mound have come via strikeout. Anderson pitched a five-inning perfect game against Blackduck in the first game of the state tournament, and she followed later that night in the semifinals with a 20-strikeout, two-hit shutout against Braham. According to MNSoftballHub, Anderson struck out 403 batters as a sophomore last season. How accurate are those stats? It's not really clear because the Mankato Free Press reported on May 19 that she had 293 strikeouts over 124 innings, and she's struck out 109 batters in 47 innings since. If that's accurate, she's up to 402 for the season. Either way, it certainly appears to be a state record. The single season record, per the Minnesota State High School League, was 341 by Aubrey Quern of Dassel-Cokato in 2024. Anderson is also sprinting towards the career strikeouts record in Minnesota. In the May 19 athlete of the week story from the Mankato Free Press, Anderson was believed to have had 1,264 strikeouts in her career. The 109 she's piled up since then would put her at an unconfirmed total of 1,373, good for second all time. 1,642 Maddie Damon, Kasson-Mantorville, 2010-2015 1,373* Mariah Anderson, United South Central, 2021-2025 1,309 Carlie Brandt, LeSueur-Henderson, 2011-2016 1,178 Lindsey Predovich, Virginia, 1998-2003 1,158 Danielle Schmidt, New Life Academy, 2004-2009 With another year of high school left, Anderson is on pace to shatter the record. As dominant as she is, Anderson hasn't committed to play softball in college just yet. It's an option, but she's also an incredible gymnast and could go that route. Texas Senate passes bill to establish ‘dispatchable' power credits trading program

This story was originally published on Utility Dive. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Utility Dive newsletter. The Texas Senate on Wednesday passed a bill to create a new 'dispatchable' power credits trading program that would effectively require utilities, generation companies and electric cooperatives in Electric Reliability Council of Texas territory to offset new renewables and battery capacity — with an equal amount of new dispatchable capacity beginning as early as next year. The bill's definition of 'dispatchable' excludes batteries while also exempting power generation companies that exclusively operate battery energy storage systems from the dispatchable power generation requirement. The bill is 'the most heavy-handed, anti-market kind of legislation … [that] would bring economic growth in Texas to a screeching halt' amid supply chain issues that have pushed gas turbine deliveries out to 2030 or beyond, Texas-based power-sector analyst Doug Lewin wrote earlier this week. S.B. 388 updates a 25-year-old section of the Texas Utilities Code to reflect 'the intent of the legislature that 50 percent of the megawatts of generating capacity installed in the ERCOT power region after January 1, 2026, be sourced from dispatchable generation other than battery energy storage.' A separate section of the Texas Utilities Code defines 'non-dispatchable' generation facilities as those whose output 'is controlled primarily by forces outside of human control.' S.B. 388 requires the Texas Public Utilities Commission to establish a program through which covered utilities and power generation companies would buy dispatchable power credits to cover any deficit in dispatchable generation capacity under the companies' ownership or control. Each megawatt of qualifying dispatchable capacity would qualify for one credit, the bill says. The PUC must activate the credit trading program if it 'determines that dispatchable generation may provide less than 55 percent of all new generating capacity installed in the ERCOT power region after January 1, 2026,' the bill says. The Texas Senate passed S.B. 388 by an 18-13 vote margin, largely along partisan lines. Seventeen of 20 Republicans voted in favor, while 10 of 11 Democrats voted against. The bill has three Republican and no Democratic sponsors. S.B. 388 now heads to the Texas House of Representatives for consideration. The Texas Legislature's 2025 session ends on June 2. Gov. Greg Abbott, R, has not publicly commented on S.B. 388, but in December touted his state's 'all of the above' approach to energy production while nodding to its status as the national leader in wind power generation and utility-scale solar capacity. If enacted, S.B. 388 would dramatically reduce Texas's ability to add new power generation this decade, slashing capacity additions from 35% over the last four years to less than 10% over the next four, Lewin said in a Wednesday newsletter. 'Supply chain issues are making it historically difficult to build gas plants … we should all agree that the state needs to bulk up on renewables and storage at least long enough for the gas-turbine supply chain to get replenished,' he said. If it doesn't, Texas — and the United States as a whole — is in grave danger of falling behind China in the quest for human-level artificial intelligence, he added. 'American ingenuity and Texas energy give us a chance to win the AI race. Only the Texas Legislature can screw it up, and they just might,' Lewin said.
