Bajaj Auto Ltd secures loan for KTM AG
Bajaj Auto Ltd, co-owner of KTM AG along with Stefan Pierer, has secured a one-year, $632 million loan to keep the company operating, according to Bloomberg via Pierer Mobility AG, parent company of KTM, also produces motorcycles under the brands Husqvarna and Gas Gas. The financing comes from JP Morgan Chase & Co., DBS Bank Ltd., and Citigroup Inc., with proceeds likely intended for the company's motorcycle business efforts to resume manufacturing and stabilize operations. The infusion comes less than a week before a May 23 deadline for the company to deposit $600 million as part of a restructuring agreement to pay back 30 percent of its debt. KTM announced its need for the restructuring deal late in 2024, citing a downturn in the market after aggressive growth surrounding the surge of the outdoor recreational market during the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, Bajaj Auto and Pierer jointly control Pierer Mobility, the parent company of KTM. Bajaj's involvement with KTM AG dates to 2007. Pierer purchased KTM from bankruptcy in the early 1990s. So far, KTM's American racing efforts have been unaffected by the financial instability, with Chase Sexton finishing second in the Monster Energy Supercross, Tom Vialle winning the 250 SX East division, and some riders signed through the 2026 season. SMX Next champion Alexander Fedortsov to turn pro in Pala, California
Alexander Fedortsov, the 18-year-old 2025 SMX Next Champion, will turn pro at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, racing for ClubMX. Fedortsov peaked when it mattered most in the SMX Next program. After running well but finishing outside the top 15 in four of the five rounds, he won the season finale over Landen Gordon and Enzo Temmerman. He secured the title in the winner-take-all scenario for the developmental series. Fedortsov was the fastest qualifier in four of the five events, and although he finished last in the Daytona Supercross race, he had a four-second lead on the competition before suffering a flat tire while leading. 'I really have nothing more to prove to myself in the amateur ranks, and I feel I can do a good job for the team starting with the outdoor season this year,' Fedortsov said in a news release. 'It's a bit of a risk but one I am willing to take at this point in my career. The Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX team has always been supportive of my decisions, and I am very thankful for their support into the pros. 'It is actually a dream come true for me, it is what every kid dreams about and now I get to actually do it.' Fedortsov has raced since the age of six, and his ability to look beyond any disappointment this week to eventual success is one of the key elements that make him appealing to ClubMX. 'It is rare to have talents in both Motocross and Supercross at such a young age,' said ClubMX team owner Brandon Haas. 'Alex impressed me every step of the way and bringing home the SMX Next Championship was icing on the cake. He takes direction well, he follows the program and has made believers out of the entire team. We talked internally about the risk vs. reward by moving him up but it was an easy decision. He has a lot of confidence and is totally unfazed by the competition. He is going to add one more layer of excitement to the outdoor season.' Fedortsov has trained at the Chesterfield, South Carolina, facility since early 2022. The length of his contract was unspecified, but described as 'long-term.' Levi Kitchen, Pro Circuit extend contract though 2027
Levi Kitchen and Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki announced a two-year contract extension that will pair rider and team through the 2027 SuperMotocross League season. Kitchen joined the team in 2024 and finished second to RJ Hampshire in the 250 SX West division that year. Kitchen was one of 12 riders to win in the 250 class in 2025 when he scored the victory in Detroit. His season immediately took a turn the following week when he crashed in the Daytona Supercross race and broke his collarbone and suffered fractures in his upper back. Kitchen would not return to ride Supercross in 2025. Kitchen got back on the bike in early April to prepare for the Pro Motocross season opener next week at Fox Raceway in Pala, California. Last year, Kitchen finished second at Pala. He was second the following week in the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Rancho Cordova, California, before hitting a dry spell in the next four rounds. He overcame that in Spring Creek, Minnesota, and won three of the last five races. Malcolm Stewart joins FXR Racing, announces 27 Parallel apparel
Malcolm Stewart will partner with FXR Racing for 'the remainder of his racing career,' representing the brand's dirt bike gear. Further capitalizing on the relationship, Stewart and FXR Pro Fish, FXR's performance fishing division, are launching an apparel brand named 27 Parallel later this summer, designed for serious anglers with a touch of Stewart's style. 'FXR has been pushing boundaries in motocross gear, and I'm hyped to be part of the team,' said Stewart. 'But this is bigger than racing. With 27 Parallel, I'm sharing another part of who I am—fishing has always been my escape, and now I get to create gear for people who love it as much as I do. Partnering with FXR Pro Fish made that dream a reality.' The brand's name combines Stewart's SuperMotocross No. 27 plate with the degree of latitude that runs through the region of Florida that Stewart calls home. The first apparel items will include lightweight UV-protective shirts, hoodies, gloves, and headwear engineered for long days on the water. 'Malcolm is one of the most authentic athletes out there,' said Milt Reimer, President of FXR Racing. 'He's as passionate about fishing as he is about racing, and that shows in everything he does. We're excited to support both sides of his lifestyle—on the track with FXR Racing and on the water with FXR Pro Fish and 27 Parallel.' Stewart earned his first 450 victory earlier this year in his native Florida at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. He scored two more podiums, both second-place finishes, in Birmingham, Alabama, and the Supercross season finale last week in Salt Lake City. He will continue to ride this summer in the Pro Motocross series, which begins May 24, 2025, at Fox Raceway in Pala, California.
