Anees Bazmee Ventures Into Marathi Cinema With Jarann, Trailer Out Now

Anees Bazmee's debut Marathi film features National Award-winning actor Amruta Subhash.
Acclaimed filmmaker Anees Bazmee is ready to foray into Marathi cinema, debuting with his upcoming psychological horror film Jarann. Starring National Award-winning actor Amruta Subhash, the first trailer has finally been released with some chilling visuals and an unsettling mood. Bazmee is known for delivering some major Bollywood hits like Welcome, No Entry, Singh Is Kinng, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
A trailer launch event was held in Mumbai on Friday, with several celebrities in attendance, like Jackie Shroff, Anil Sharma, Raj Mehta, Vikas Bahl, and Bazmee himself.
At the event, the filmmaker expressed his excitement about expanding into Marathi cinema with a story that he hopes will resonate beyond language barriers. 'This subject is deeply rooted in our society. Personally, I don't believe in ghosts—but if you asked me to go to a deserted mansion at 2 a.m., I wouldn't go. That's because I've witnessed a lot over time. Some people do practice black magic, and many hold strange, deep-seated beliefs. This kind of superstition has existed in our society for generations, and it's not something that can be erased overnight," he said, giving hints about the narrative.
Previously, in a statement, Bazmee shared how he admired the depth and quality of Marathi cinema. 'When I saw this film's narrative, I was immediately drawn to its strength and the director's vision. It's a privilege to support such meaningful storytelling," he added, as per the Times of India.
Coming back to the trailer, Amruta Subhash will be seen as a married woman whose ordinary life takes an unexpected turn due to some unexplainable eerie incidents. The video opens to show several happy family moments, only to show the woman encountering unusual things in her house. Moments later, Amruta will be seen exhibiting signs of possession, leaving her family members terrified.
Apart from Amruta Subhash, other cast members include Anita Date Kelkar, Kishor Kadam, Jyoti Malshe, Rajan Bhise, Seema Deshmukh, Vikram Gaikwad, Avanee Joshi and Durva Deodhar in key roles. Presented by Anees Bazmee in association with A&N Cinema LLP, Jarann is written and directed by Rushikesh Gupte.
The film will be released on June 5.
