A.P. Space Policy aims at attracting investments of ₹25,000 crore in next 10 years
The Government of Andhra Pradesh issued a G.O. on Sunday introducing the A.P. Space Policy (4.0) 2025-30, aimed at developing an enabling ecosystem for the development, manufacturing, and commercialisation of space technologies and services in the State.
It facilitates investments amounting to ₹25,000 crore over the next 10 years and creation of 5,000 direct and 30,000 indirect jobs in high technology space-linked domains.
It is stated that the Government of India (GoI) has laid out an ambitious vision for the National Space Programme (NSP) over the next few decades, encompassing advanced missions, next-generation infrastructure, and strategic research and development.
These projects, driven by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the Department of Space, and their commercial and regulatory arms, represent a significant opportunity for industrial participation across manufacturing, innovation, and services.
Andhra Pradesh, with its geographic and policy advantages, is uniquely positioned to support and benefit from the national initiatives. Towards supporting the vision of the GoI, the State government intended to develop a comprehensive and inclusive industrial ecosystem for space sector participants, including start-ups, large enterprises, academic institutions, and global investors.
Manufacturing clusters
The aim is to attract domestic and foreign investments in all segments of the space value chain, facilitate space-based innovations in governance, education, agriculture, disaster management, and environment monitoring, support the NSP through industrial supply base development and setting up manufacturing clusters near Sriharikota, promote public-private partnerships, and to encourage technology transfer through regulatory frameworks and funding.
The A.P. Space Policy (4.0) 2025-30 is valid for five years from the date of issue (July 13, 2025), or till a new policy is announced. A technical committee will be constituted under the Commissioner of Industries to vet and process applications for land allotment in the Space Cities proposed to be developed along the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor in Sri Sathya Sai district and in Tirupati (Routhasuramala).
The government will form an SPV, 'AP Space City Corporation', which will drive all initiatives related to the development of the above Space Cities, and serve as the central agency to coordinate infrastructure development, raise start-up funds, attract investments, facilitate industry partnerships, build partnerships to attract global demand, and liaise with all GoI entities for tapping the domestic demand.
