PEACEMAKER Season 2: First Look at Michael Rooker's Wild New Character Revealed — GeekTyrant

Michael Rooker is back in James Gunn's DC playground, but this time, he's taking on an entirely new character in Peacemaker Season 2, and Eagly might want to start watching his back. Rooker, a regular in Gunn's cinematic universe from Guardians of the Galaxy to The Suicide Squad to voicing a role in Creature Commandos , was expected to appear in Peacemaker eventually. What we didn't expect? That he'd be cast as Eagly's nemesis… Red St. Wild, and we have a first look at the character. Gunn shared with Entertainment Weekly: 'His name is Red St. Wild, and he's the world's foremost eagle hunter who is on a mission to kill Eagly. We thought Eagly was probably the most popular character from season 1, and so in season 2, he has his own story with his nemesis, played by none other than the despicable Michael Rooker.' Rooker looks awesome in the role as a rugged, heavily costumed character who definitely gives off 'professional eagle hunter' vibes. Also joining the cast is Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury, a new A.R.G.U.S. agent who's apparently filling the show's 'jerk quota' now that Peacemaker himself has mellowed out a bit. Gunn said of the character: 'In a lot of ways, Peacemaker has changed a lot this season. He's a much softer guy, he's a much nicer guy, he's less in your face and less obnoxious and less aggressive. 'He has changed as a human being, so Langston Fleury actually takes up a lot of being a total asshole in the same way Peacemaker was [last season]. 'He's a very politically incorrect asshole throughout most of the season, and also an incredibly funny guy.' With Eagly getting a full-blown arch-nemesis and Meadows stepping in as a new chaos agent, Peacemaker Season 2 is shaping up to be just as off-the-wall, if not more, than the first. Check out the stills from the new season at the links below, and prepare yourself… the eagle war is coming. Peacemaker Season 2 premieres Thursday, August 21st on Max.

'Superman' Secret Villain Identity Confirmed

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Ever since the first teaser for James Gunn's 'Superman', fans have been theorizing about one of the more physical villains in the film. In various clips, David Corenswet's Superman is seen fighting a man dressed head-to-toe in dark leather, including a mouthless mask with goggles. The only clue to his identity is the "U" on his chest and the fact that he seems able to physically match Superman. A lot of fans have guessed this is the evil Superman variant, Ultraman. And now, shots of a new toy tie-in to the movie confirms that the mystery man is, in fact, Ultraman. You can see the proof below. A great look at the ULTRAMAN figure for 'SUPERMAN' — DCU Updates (@DCU_Updates) May 15, 2025 Read More: Robert Downey Jr. Continues to Reveal Doctor Doom Story Teases As you can see, the toy tie-in refers to the villain as "DC's Ultraman." Of course, what remains to be seen is just how close to the Ultraman of the comics this version is. David Corenswet as Superman in "Superman" David Corenswet as Superman in "Superman" Warner Bros In the comics, Ultraman is from an alternate universe in which most of people who we know as heroes in DC comics are instead villains. For example, instead of the Justice League of America, Ultraman is part of the Crime Syndicate of America. A villain named Johnny Quick replaces The Flash, Power Ring instead of Green Lantern, Owlman instead of Batman, etc. So if the Ultraman of "Superman" is - like his comic book counterpart - a Superman variant, the question is exactly how A.R.G.U.S. finds him and gets him to help them out. The Ultraman of the comics would need a whole lot of convincing to help A.R.G.U.S. or anyone else to work for something other than his own selfish designs; not to mention doing it while hiding his identity. Of course, it does seem like the multiverse will be present early on in the DCU. The recently released trailer for "Peacemaker" likewise has the titular hero running into what appears to be a multiverse variant of himself. It's also possible that James Gunn is simply using the name Ultraman and that he will have an origin completely different from the version in the comics. "Superman" releases in theaters on July 11. The film is written and directed by James Gunn. "Superman" stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced. Peacemaker Meets The Justice League In Season 2 First Look

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors The first trailer for "Peacemaker" Season 2 is here and it kicks off with a big surprise. It opens with Leota (Danielle Brooks) driving Peacemaker (John Cena) to an interview, but not just any interview. When Peacemaker arrives he appears to be interviewing for a spot on the actual Justice League. You can watch the trailer and see how the interview turns out below. Read More: 'Peacemaker' Season 2 - Everything We Know So Far The interview scene includes Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, and Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord. None of them seem particularly impressed with Peacemaker, who overhears them insulting him along with just outright ignoring him. John Cena in Season 2 of "Peacemaker". John Cena in Season 2 of "Peacemaker". Warner Bros "Peacemaker" creator and showrunner James Gunn has said that this season will be much more about the interaction between the characters and the trailer seems to bear that out. Leota seems to be having problems with her wife while we see Emilia (Jennifer Holland) dealing with some rage issues including getting into what appears to be a pretty involved bar fight. It also becomes clear that Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) will be one of the season's antagonists. Peacemaker kills his son, Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman) in 2021's "The Suicide Squad", and the elder Flag seems to be looking for some payback. Flag has taken the reins of A.R.G.U.S. over from Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). Waller was supposed to get her own series that was going to be released before "Peacemaker" Season 2 that would presumably explain Waller's ousting, but the series hit some creative roadblocks. The trailer also gives us a chance to see Tim Meadows in his role as A.R.G.U.S. agent Langston Fleury, and we also get a very brief look at Michael Rooker playing what appears to be some kind of mystical character. Just as the trailer opens with a surprise, it ends with one. We see Peacemaker walk through a door and is confronted by a completely different Peacemaker, though also played by John Cena. It may be too soon to tell, but on the face of things it looks like Marvel isn't the only studio playing around with the multiverse. "Oh Lord" by Foxy Shazam plays in the background and since we know there will be a new song and dance number for the intro of Season 2, it's tempting to speculate that this could be the new starting tune. "Peacemaker" Season 2 premieres on Max on August 21. More Comics: Marvel Eyeing 'Thunderbolts' Director for 'X-Men' Fan-Favorite Star From 'The Bear' Cast in 'Spider-Man 4'

‘Peacemaker' Season 2 Trailer: John Cena Returns in James Gunn's New DC Universe With Cameos From Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl

Team Peacemaker is finally back. John Cena's very R-rated DC superhero has returned in the first trailer for 'Peacemaker' Season 2, created by DC Studios co-chief James Gunn. The sophomore season takes place in the rebooted DC Universe, which officially kicked off with Gunn's animated series 'Creature Commando' and continues with his summer tentpole 'Superman.' Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner and Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl cameo in the trailer and will appear in 'Superman.' More from Variety DC's 'Sgt. Rock' Movie, From Luca Guadagnino, No Longer in Development John Cena Makes History With 17th World Title After WrestleMania Win Against Cody Rhodes WrestleMania 41 Livestream: How to Watch the Major WWE Event Online Without Cable The first 'Peacemaker' season released in 2022 on Max (back when it was called HBO Max) and was a spinoff of Gunn's 2021 'The Suicide Squad' movie. It stars Cena's patriotic mercenary Christopher Smith, who debuted as Peacemaker in 'The Suicide Squad,' as he starts working for the mysterious company A.R.G.U.S., the Advanced Research Group Uniting Super-Humans. In Season 1, he investigates Project Butterfly and is tasked to kill off parasitic aliens that have taken over the minds of humans around the world. The cast also includes Danielle Brooks, the daughter of Suicide Squad founder and A.R.G.U.S. leader Amanda Waller (Viola Davis); Freddie Stroma as the hapless crimefighter Vigilante; Steve Agee as A.R.G.U.S. agent John Economos; Jennifer Holland as A.R.G.U.S. agent Emilia Harcourt; Robert Patrick as August 'Auggie' Smith, Peacemaker's racist dad who also goes by the name White Dragon; Sol Rodriguez; Tim Meadows; and, of course, Peacemaker's beloved bird sidekick Eagly. Frank Grillo also stars as Rick Flag Sr. in Season 2 after originating the voice role in the animated 'Creature Commandos.' After Peacemaker killed his son Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman) in 'The Suicide Squad,' there will surely be some unfinished business between the senior Rick Flag and the mercenary. 'Peacemaker' Season 2 debuts on Max on Aug. 21 and will consist of eight episodes. Watch the trailer below.
