Abu Dhabi Sports Council picks 10 awards at SPIA
3 June 2025 01:00 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) has claimed a remarkable ten awards at the Middle East Sports Industry Awards (SPIA), held at Space 42 Arena in Al Raha Beach, Abu Dhabi. The honours included five gold, three silver, and two bronze awards, reinforcing Abu Dhabi's regional and global leadership in sports development and international event the top recognitions was the gold award for Strategic Leadership in Middle East Sport, presented to Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of ADSC, in appreciation of his exceptional role in advancing the sports highlight was the gold award for Major Sports Event of the Year, which went to the 2024 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, part of the DP World Tour Championship Finals, held at Yas Links last the field of youth development, the ADSC got a gold for the Youth Sports Programme of the Year for Active Hub, an initiative that promotes youth engagement and wellness through sport while another gold came for Best Corporate Wellness Through Sport for organising the Abu Dhabi Government Games, which emphasised health and wellbeing at the workplace. The fifth and final gold belonged for the Mass Participation Event, awarded to the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon, with more than 33,000 participants alone running across the length and breadth of the city on a December morning. ADSC, ADCC sign partnership agreements with Daman to promote healthy lifestyles
5 May 2025 16:59 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and Abu Dhabi Cycling Club (ADCC) have signed two partnership agreements with the National Health Insurance Company – Daman, a subsidiary of PureHealth Group and one of the region's leading health insurance providers. The agreements aim to support and promote community and sports initiatives across the emirate of Abu the agreements, Daman will continue its role as a key supporting partner for various community events organised by both ADSC and ADCC throughout the year, reinforcing its longstanding commitment to health and Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said, 'We take pride in our ongoing partnership with Daman, which reflects our shared commitment to fostering a culture of sports and healthy living across all segments of society. The event is a collaborative effort between Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and Hero can choose from four race categories – a half marathon, 10km, 5km, and 1km races – catering to individuals of all ages and fitness race aligns with the ADSC's mission to promote healthy lifestyles and foster a strong sports culture within the community, aiming to make sports an integral part of daily life and enhance the quality of life in the held on the same day worldwide and recongnised at the world's largest half marathon, the ninth edition of the One Run International Running Race is anticipated to attract participants from more than 30 countries, including Russia, Cameroon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Morocco, China, Serbia, Pakistan, Argentina, Venezuela, India, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kuwait, Tajikistan, Nepal, Turkey, Yemen, Greece, Belarus, Egypt, Slovenia, South Africa, Peru, Togo, Brazil, Armenia, Malaysia, Jordan, and Director of the Events Sector at ADSC, Talal Mustafa Al Hashmi, said, "We are honoured to partner with Hero League in organising this event at Hudayriyat Island, which has become a premier destination for sports activities in Abu Dhabi.""The One Run race is part of our ongoing efforts to support community initiatives and promote sports as a daily habit, contributing positively to the emirate's quality of life."Since its inception in 2017, the One Run International Running Race has seen exponential growth, earning a spot in the Guinness World Records twice. Nahyan bin Zayed awards winners of Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship 2025
9 Apr 2025 23:03 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), has awarded winners of the Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship by ADSC, Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the championship promoted traditional sports and UAE maritime heritage. His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised the efforts of organisers and highlighted the event's role in supporting traditional fishing methods while fostering community engagement with the UAE's maritime heritage. His Highness further highlighted the UAE leadership's support for events that preserve national identity, promote connection to traditions, and enhance Abu Dhabi's position as a sports and tourism destination.

Inaugural Challenge Sir Bani Yas Triathlon concludes in Abu Dhabi

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, the first Challenge Sir Bani Yas Triathlon concluded in Abu Dhabi on Monday. The first-ever full-distance triathlon to take place in the Middle East and North Africa region ran from 3-7 April by the ADNEC Group in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), Challenge Sir Bani Yas reinforces Abu Dhabi's and Al Dhafra's rising profile as premier sports tourism destinations, while also fostering greater community line with the UAE's 'Year of Community' initiative, the event brought together more than 3,100 elite and amateur athletes from 47 countries, competing across long, middle, and Olympic-distance triathlons, alongside a variety of community-focused races, which attracted 6,515 full-distance triathlon featured a 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycle, and a 42.2 km run. The middle-distance race included a 1.9 km swim, 96 km cycle, and 21.1 km run, while the Olympic-distance event consisted of a 1.5 km swim, 45 km cycle, and 10 km run. Organisers say the next edition will be held from January 29 to February 1.
