BBAU, AKTU and DSMNRU open registration portals for admissions

The city-based universities have opened their registration portals for admission to various courses for the session 2025-26. Thus the students aspiring to get admissions could easily access the details on the portals of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Dr. Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) and APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) which have started the registration process. At BBAU, the portal for admissions to postgraduate courses has been opened and the registration forms are available for ₹500 for general, OBC and EWS category while it is ₹300 for SC, ST and People with Disabilities. 'The last date of submission without late fee is June 18 while the last date of form submission with late fee of ₹1000 is June 24. As part of PG admission as many as 2,579 seats will be filled,' said chairperson Admission-cum-Monitoring Committee BBAU, Amit Kumar Singh. He said the portal for undergraduate courses will be opened soon after the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) results are announced. At DSMNRU, registration for both UG and PG courses has been started. 'We are holding admissions to UG and PG courses based on CUET. The forms for UG and PG courses are available for ₹200 and ₹100 for general and for people with disabilities respectively. Admission to certificate and diploma courses and Masters in Prosthetics and Orthotics will be conducted on a non-CUET basis and the forms are available for ₹800 and ₹400 for general and for people with disabilities respectively. The last date for submission of forms is June 28,' said spokesperson DSMNRU, Prof Yashwant Virodai. At AKTU, admission will be conducted based on JEE, CUET and class 12 results for UG courses and GATE, CUET PG and Institute level examination for PG courses. 'The admission forms for BTech courses have been started online while other courses will be started soon. Admission forms will be available for ₹1,000 for both UG and PG courses,' said dean admissions AKTU, OP Singh.

This was followed by the formal inauguration of the science exhibition. EARTH 2025, a magazine focused on environmental research and technological harmonization, and the "My Stamp" card, a special commemorative stamp reflecting CSIR-IITR's contributions, was released. NBRI National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, and the International Society of Environmental Botanists (ISEB) jointly celebrated World Environment Day. On the occasion, director of CSIR-NBRI, Ajit Kumar Shasany, highlighted the importance of this year's theme. He said that awareness regarding the sustainable use of our natural resources is the need of the hour. We must change our lifestyle to save our environment. UPNEDA director Inderjit Singh, who was the chief guest on the occasion, urged the use of solar panels and EVs, while vice chancellor Prof Soniya Nityanand stressed individual responsibility in cutting plastic use. Balrampur Hospital Based on the environment theme, debates, poster-making, and a tree plantation were held at Balrampur Hospital. Director Dr Dinesh Kumar said spreading environmental awareness is a duty of medical institutions. Participants took a pledge to protect nature. Lok Bandhu Hospital Lok Bandhu Hospital held a plantation and awareness event. Director Dr Sangeeta Gupta planted an Amla sapling, highlighting its medicinal value, while MS Dr Ajay Tripathi discussed plastic hazards with patients. Bharwara STP At Bharwara STP, Suez India, the firm handling city sewage disposal, held a plantation drive under the 'One Tree in the Name of Mother' campaign with support from women SHGs. The Sindoor plant, symbolising respect for motherhood and nature, was a special attraction. Project director Rajesh Mathpal called it a model of environmental care and women's empowerment. State Museum At State Museum Lucknow, an awareness drive for visitors was organised on 'Environmental Protection'. On the occasion, the importance of animals, plants, air, water, and earth was explained. Students of Saraswati Balika Inter College visited the museum. "We explained to the students how important the environment is for us and how essential it is to conserve and protect it," said assistant director of the museum, Al Shaz Fatmi. Uttarakhand Mahaparishad Members of Uttarakhand Mahaparishad distributed plants on the occasion and pledged to protect the environment. "It is very important for us to protect the environment. If we want to remain healthy, we have to maintain a green, clean, and healthy environment," said general secretary of the Uttarakhand Mahaparishad, Bharat Singh Bisht. Shree Shyam Parivar Members of Shree Shyam Parivar organised a plantation drive at Ramadhin Inter College and installed five water coolers at different places in the city on Environment Day and the birth anniversary of CM Yogi Adityanath. The chief guest on the occasion was MLA Neeraj Bora.

Lucknow: Candidates for undergraduate engineering courses at AKTU can register for admission by May-end and counselling will begin in the second week of Jun. Admission window is likely to open on May 20, with scores from JEE (Advanced), CUET and class 12 being considered for admissions. This year, AKTU was also going to consider CUET and class 10+2 marks of candidates for admission to engineering courses if seats remained available after merit list of candidates with JEE scores was exhausted, said admission coordinator O P Singh. "We have directed all colleges to complete the process of renewing their affiliation by Jun 30," said an AKTU official, adding, colleges that failed to renew affiliation as per tentative admission schedule would face consequences. Affiliation will be completed by Jun 30. Counselling will complete in Jul and we aim to start the new session by mid-August.

Lucknow: A solo painting exhibition 'Power of Colours' by artist Umesh Kumar Saxena began at Kala Srot art gallery on Saturday. The exhibition will remain open from 2pm to 8pm daily till May 20, 2025. As many as 30 paintings on canvas using acrylic colours are on display, based on themes of love, celebration and transparency. A painting 'Shakuntalam' is based on 'Abhigyanashakuntalam', a play by Kalidasa while 'Chakor' is based on folklore. "Every art has universal language and words can't express what colours can," said Saxena, whose career began in 1977. He has presented several shows at national and international level.
