Sikandar aa gaya hai Netflix par raaj karne (We've heard that many of you were eagerly waiting for Sikandar? Sikandar is here to rule on Netflix). Watch Sikandar, out 25 May on Netflix.' In the poster, Salman is seen looking fierce in a never-before-seen avatar from Sikandar. Directed by AR Murugadoss, Sikandar boasts a star-studded cast including Rashmika Mandanna , Kajal Aggarwal , Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, and Sathyaraj. The film crossed Rs 100 crore domestically and grossed over Rs 200 crore globally. However, it failed to satisfy critics due to its poor execution. ETimes reviewed the film : "A Salman Khan movie is a genre in itself, and you know what to expect—gravity-defying action, larger-than-life heroism, and punchy dialogues. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Secure Your Child's Future with Strong English Fluency Planet Spark Learn More Undo Written and directed by A.R. Murugadoss, this actioner checks all these boxes but suffers from an underwhelming plot and clichéd narrative. Sikandar is the expected righteous, brave, and invincible figure typical of both the genre and a Salman Khan massive Eid release. He saves 6,000 Dharavi residents by arranging their treatment, empowers a homemaker (Kajal Aggarwal), and helps a love-struck college girl. Amidst all this, he battles the minister's henchmen." "The predictable storyline is paired with a generic background score by Santhosh Narayanan. Kevin Kumar's action direction is limited, with no jaw-dropping, extraordinary stunts to impress you. The few action sequences feel repetitive, with slow-motion shots, flying goons, and exploding cars. Salman Khan drives the film with his signature star power. He strives to deliver an emotional, action-packed performance, but the sluggish narrative holds him back, while throwing in some over-the-top dialogues like, 'Ab insaaf ki nahi, inhe saaf karne ki zaroorat hai'. Rashmika Mandanna has a few scenes and some songs, but the problem is not that. Overall, she has a strong screen presence but doesn't have much to perform or elevate the scenes she appears in. Vatsan Chakravarthi plays a corrupt cop and fits the role well. The surprise element is Sharman Joshi as Salman's loyal aide—he holds his own opposite the superstar, delivering a restrained and impactful act. Sikandar box office verdict: Salman Khan's Sikandar, which hit the screens this Eid, opened to a decent response at the box office and collected Rs 54 crore globally on the first day. It, however, received negative reviews with critics panning the execution and 'outdated' plot. This affected its performance once the initial buzz faded. Sikandar's run is now over, and the verdict's out Sikandar disappoints at the box office Sikandar, starring Salman Khan and directed by AR Murugadoss, has failed to live up to expectations at the box office. According to Manobala Vijayabalan, a trade analyst, the action thriller collected Rs 175 crore in its full run. This figure fails to do justice to the film's budget of Rs 200 crore as well as the standards 'Bhai' has set for himself. 'Sikandar grossed ₹175 cr at the WW Box Office. The film is a flop when compared with its budget. Of late script selection from Salman Khan hasn't been that good, hence the result,' he told Indiatimes. Sikandar has failed to match the performance of Tiger 3, Salman Khan's last solo release. The Maneesh Sharma-directed action-thriller earned Rs 464 crore at the worldwide ticket window during its full run. Sikandar has also collected less than Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which was released on Eid 2023. The Hindi adaptation of Veeram earned Rs 182 crore in its lifetime. Explaining the reason behind the dull response to Sikandar, Manobala said that Salman's decision to work with AR Murugadoss backfired as the Tamil filmmaker 'has lost his touch' 'Another major factor is director AR Murugadoss. He has lost his touch long back. None of his recent films worked with the audience. He should have been extra cautious while making the film with a megastar like Salman. If that had happened, the film would have had a different result, he added AR Murugadoss, the director of well-received Bollywood films such as Ghajini and Holiday, suffered a setback when Spyder (2017) bombed at the box office. The Mahesh Babu-led thriller raked in merely Rs 120 crore on a budget of Rs 150 crore and also received mixed reviews. ARM also failed to redeem himself with Rajinikanth's Darbar (2020). Sikandar Box Office Collection Day 25: Salman Khan Film Struggles To Stay Afloat
New Delhi: Salman Khan's Sikandar is showing no signs of growth at the box office. On Day 25, the AR Murugadoss directorial collected ₹5 lakh through ticket windows, according to a report by Sacnilk. With this, the action entertainer has so far earned a total of ₹110.3 crore in the domestic market. The worldwide collection of Sikandar stands at ₹184.82 crore, the report added. The age gap between the lead pair - 31 years - sparked some chatter online. Salman addressed the comments head-on at the trailer launch event of Sikandar. In his usual candid style, the superstar said, " Phir vo bolte hain 31 years ka difference hai heroine aur mujh mein, arre jab heroine ko problem nahi hai, heroine ke papa ko dikkat nahi hai, tumko kyun dikkat hai bhai? Inki shadi hogi, bachchi hongi, toh unke sath bhi kaam karenge. Mummy ki permission toh mil hi jayega. [Then they say there's a 31-year age gap between me and the heroine. But if the heroine has no problem, and even her father has no issue, why do you have a problem, brother?]" Salman Khan added, "And when she (Rashmika) gets married and has a daughter and then she becomes a big star, then also we will work (together). We will get the mother (Rashmika)'s permission for sure.' Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi and Prateik Smita Patil are also seen playing important roles in Sikandar.
