Fever Star Caitlin Clark's Projected Return Date Revealed by ESPN
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Indiana Fever have suffered through a rough start to the 2025 WNBA season compared to what had been expected from them. Caitlin Clark has suffered the same fate thanks to multiple different injury issues. Even now, Clark remains out due to injuring her groin once again just before the All-Star break. She has only played in 13 games this season of the 25 the Fever have played as a team. As of right now, the team has not given any timetable for a potential return to the court form Clark. Read more: Fever's Caitlin Clark Breaks Another Record Without Playing a Minute "The team can confirm that no additional injuries or damage were discovered through the evaluations," the statement read. "Clark will continue working with the Fever medical team on her recovery and rehabilitation, with the priority on her long-term health and well-being. There is no timetable available for Clark's return, and no additional details will be provided at this time. Any further updates will be shared as they become available." Despite there being no official timeline for Clark to return to the court, ESPN has revealed when it believes she'll be back and playing for the Fever again. On their WNBA injuries page, ESPN has listed August 12 as a potential return date for Clark. If that does end up becoming accurate, Clark would make her return against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings at home. Throughout the 13 games she has been able to play this season, Clark has seen her numbers decrease. That should be expected though, as she has been playing through nagging injury issues. Read more: Sky Coach Sends Message as Angel Reese Faces Threat of Suspension In the 13 games she has played, Clark has averaged 16.5 points per game to go along with 8.8 assists, five rebounds, and 1.6 steals. She has also shot 36.7 percent from the floor and has connected on 27.9 percent of her three-point attempts. Obviously, it hasn't been the MVP-caliber season that many fans and analysts were expecting from Clark. The hope is simply that she can get healthy and back on the court to help Indiana pursue a run in the playoffs. Expect to hear more about the Fever superstar in the near future. For now, ESPN's projected return date gives Indiana fans hope. Make sure to follow Newsweek Sports for all Indiana Fever and WNBA news and updates.

Angel Reese Sends Clear Message to WNBA About Salary Negotiations
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese hasn't been shy about her feelings toward the ongoing negotiations between the WNBA and its players regarding player salaries. As outspoken as any player in the league, Reese threatened a lockout months ago when advocating for higher player salaries on social media, and nearly two weeks ago she made it clear the players are willing to keep fighting for a bigger piece of the revenue pie. "We are all here to fight for the same thing, and what we deserve," Reese said, via Robin Lundberg. "We're not going to stop until we get exactly what we want. And yesterday's meeting really woke me up to the eyes of, we aren't getting what we deserve. And knowing that for a long time... the numbers they were giving us, I'm like, 'Wow, I didn't know all this stuff.'" Collective bargaining agreement negotiations have intensified in the last week, with as many as 40 players meeting in person with WNBA officials to try and find some common ground. The players even made a resounding statement during the All-Star game last weekend, wearing shirts with the message "Pay Us What You Owe Us" printed on the front, which prompted the fans in attendance to shout "pay them" during warmups and when Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier was presented with the MVP award after the game. Angel Reese #5 of the Chicago Sky warms-up prior to the 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on July 19, 2025 in Indianapolis, took her advocacy a step further during a recent appearance on "NBA on ESPN," in which reporter Elle Duncan asked her what the non-negotiable is for her in the next CBA, to which Reese sent a strong message to league officials. "The team revenue, the revenue shares — that's really important for us," Reese said. "We deserve it. I know we're not letting up. I know we're going to do whatever it takes to get what we deserve. I'm just going to continue to educate myself on what's going on and staying involved. "I know my voice, I know my platform, and I know when I speak, people are listening. Not that I need the money, but it's for everybody else. It's for people that are coming behind me. It's the people that already played before me, so that's why I'm going to continue to speak." More Basketball: A'ja Wilson Makes WNBA History vs Indiana Fever The WNBA lost a reported $40 million last year, which is what many believe league officials are using as their leverage for not increasing player salaries. The league's $147,745 average player salary is the lowest of the six biggest professional leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, WNBA), just behind the $594,000 the average MLS player makes. According to Hearst Television Data, professional sports leagues including the NFL, NBA, and NHL give their players a guaranteed fixed percentage anywhere from 47-51% of the revenue generated by the league as part of their CBA. The WNBA, however, gives its players a percentage of "excess revenue," which is only paid out if the league hits its revenue target. Both the WNBA and MLS give pay out 25% of the revenue excess.

We've got you covered on the Liberty beat Join Post Sports+ for exciting subscriber-only features, including real-time texting with Madeline Kenney about all things Liberty and WNBA. tRY IT NOW There's a saying in sports: Availability is the best ability. Unfortunately for Nyara Sabally, the Liberty backup center has struggled with that over the course of her first three years in the WNBA. Advertisement Sabally rested during the midseason break, according to coach Sandy Brondello, but she had 'a little bit of discomfort' flare up, resulting in her missing at least two games for what the team called 'rest.' Sabally didn't play in the Liberty's win against the Fever on Tuesday out of the All-Star break nor did she suit up to help New York thump the Mercury 89-76 on Friday. 4 Sabrina Ionescu, Nyara Sabally of the New York Liberty and Satou Sabally of the Phoenix Mercury pose for a picture after the game between the Phoenix Mercury and the New York Liberty during a WNBA game on July 25, 2025. 'We've got that depth here, so giving her the time that she needs, and I don't know what that looks like but we have it right now, so let's utilize it.' Advertisement Kayla Thornton's breakout season came to a premature end this week. Thornton, just days removed from her first All-Star appearance, underwent season-ending knee surgery Friday after she suffered an injury at practice this week, the Valkyries announced. Thornton, whom the Valkyries plucked from the Liberty in the expansion draft this past offseason, was having a career season, averaging 14 points, seven rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. 4 Kayla Thornton of the Golden State Valkyries during the 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on July 19, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Indiana Fever Make Roster Move Amid Caitlin Clark's Injury Concerns
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entering the 2025 WNBA season, the Indiana Fever were widely expected to be a top-tier championship contender. Caitlin Clark was expected to be an MVP candidate and to continue her meteoric rise to the top of the league. Unfortunately, the season has not unfolded that way for the Fever. Indiana has seen Clark deal with multiple different injury issues. She has missed a lot of time due to the injuries and currently remains out as she tries to come back from a groin injury. Photo byAfter their much-needed win over the Las Vegas Aces in their last game, the Fever hold a 13-12 record. They are staying afloat in the chase for the playoffs. However, they will not be able to win a championship without Clark healthy and on the court. Read more: Caitlin Clark Names Best NBA Player of All-Time Without Hesitation To that end, Indiana recently made an announcement regarding Clark's injury. There is no return timeline in place for her right now. "Caitlin Clark underwent further medical evaluations earlier this week, which confirmed that no additional injuries or damage were discovered," the statement read. "Clark will continue working with the medical team on her recovery and rehabilitation, with the priority on her long-term health and well-being. There is no timetable available for her return." With Clark's status for the rest of the season completely unknown, the Fever made a roster move on Friday. As shared by Indiana, the Fever went out and signed Australian forward Chloe Bibby to a seven-day contract. During the 2025 season, Bibby has played in five games with the Golden State Valkyries. She averaged 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game. Read more: A'ja Wilson Makes WNBA History vs Indiana Fever Obviously, Bibby is not going to be the piece that comes in and powers Indiana back to being a championship contender. However, she will have a chance to add valuable depth to a Fever team that badly needs help. It may not be a head-turning move for Indiana, but it's quite possible that Bibby could end up seeing some time on the court at some point. Should that end up being the case, hopefully she'll be ready and able to play a role and bring energy off of the bench. In the meantime, the Fever will hope that Clark can continue progressing towards a return to the court this season. Make sure to follow Newsweek Sports for all Indiana Fever and WNBA news and updates.
