Indiana Fever Make Roster Move Amid Caitlin Clark's Injury Concerns

Entering the 2025 WNBA season, the Indiana Fever were widely expected to be a top-tier championship contender. Caitlin Clark was expected to be an MVP candidate and to continue her meteoric rise to the top of the league.
Unfortunately, the season has not unfolded that way for the Fever.
Indiana has seen Clark deal with multiple different injury issues. She has missed a lot of time due to the injuries and currently remains out as she tries to come back from a groin injury.

To that end, Indiana recently made an announcement regarding Clark's injury. There is no return timeline in place for her right now.
"Caitlin Clark underwent further medical evaluations earlier this week, which confirmed that no additional injuries or damage were discovered," the statement read. "Clark will continue working with the medical team on her recovery and rehabilitation, with the priority on her long-term health and well-being. There is no timetable available for her return."
With Clark's status for the rest of the season completely unknown, the Fever made a roster move on Friday.
As shared by Indiana, the Fever went out and signed Australian forward Chloe Bibby to a seven-day contract.
During the 2025 season, Bibby has played in five games with the Golden State Valkyries. She averaged 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game.

Obviously, Bibby is not going to be the piece that comes in and powers Indiana back to being a championship contender. However, she will have a chance to add valuable depth to a Fever team that badly needs help.
It may not be a head-turning move for Indiana, but it's quite possible that Bibby could end up seeing some time on the court at some point. Should that end up being the case, hopefully she'll be ready and able to play a role and bring energy off of the bench.
In the meantime, the Fever will hope that Clark can continue progressing towards a return to the court this season.

How to watch Fever vs. Storm: Indiana looks to extend its winning streak without Caitlin Clark
Seattle's hardwood hosts a marquee matinee Sunday at 3 p.m. ET when the red-hot Indiana Fever visit the Storm. Rebounds ricochet and WNBA stars deliver shimmer, sizzle and scoreboard-skipping suspense for hoopheads. Live coverage is also available on ESPN+. Even while second-year guard Caitlin Clark remains out with a right groin strain, Indiana (16-12) is riding a four-game surge. Clark's absence has forced a democratic bend: The Fever are 8-7 without her, behind Aliyah Boston's 54.4 percent shooting and Kelsey Mitchell's 19.9 points a night. In an 88-78 win over the Dallas Wings on Friday night, Boston recorded her fifth straight double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Mitchell put up a game-high 23 points. Seattle (16-12) counters with 2016 MVP Nneka Ogwumike (18.1 points per game), who shined in a double-OT loss to her former team, the Los Angeles Sparks. Ogwumike crossed the 7,000-point threshold with her 37-point outing on Friday, becoming just the sixth player in WNBA history to reach that career milestone. The Storm also rely on center Ezi Magbegor's rim protection and a rejuvenated Skylar Diggins, whose All-Star Game triple-double was followed by another in just 23 minutes against the Connecticut Sun on July 28. Indiana claimed the lone prior meeting between these two teams, 94-86 on June 24, when Boston erupted for a career-high 31 in this same arena. Both clubs play around the same pace, so rebounding and turnovers loom large. If Boston limits Ogwumike's second-chance looks and Mitchell stays tidy under pressure, the Fever could secure their first five-game win streak of the season. Advertisement Seattle has a tough stretch ahead before its Aug. 15 meeting with the Atlanta Dream in Vancouver, the first WNBA regular-season game held outside the United States. The Storm have the Minnesota Lynx, Las Vegas Aces and Sparks on tap before back-to-back showdowns against the Dream. Lionel Messi's Leagues Cup injury confirmed as "hamstring discomfort"
Lionel Messi exited Saturday night's Leagues Cup match against visiting Necaxa in the 11th minute due to a right leg injury. After Inter Miami completed its 2-2 draw, manager Javier Mascherano declared Messi felt "hamstring discomfort." The 38-year-old Messi's exit brings a halt to an exceptional run of clean health, the longest since he joined Miami in July 2023. He had played in every minute of 16 consecutive matches for Miami between MLS regular season and FIFA Club World Cup play before his failure to appear in the 2025 MLS All-Star Game resulted in a one-match suspension against FC Cincinnati a week ago. He returned Wednesday night for Miami's Leagues Cup opener against Atlas and provided two assists -- one leading to the game-winner late -- in a 2-1 victory. Neither team scored prior to Messi's exit Saturday, though Miami's Telasco Segovia scored shortly thereafter to put Miami in front. Necaxa took a 2-1 lead with the Herons reduced to 10 men when Marcelo Weigandt was sent off for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, but Inter Miami rallied for the equalizer in extra time. Messi, an eight-time Ballon d'Or winner, has not scored in the Leagues Cup. But in MLS play, he is tied for the league lead with 18 goals. Messi's run of consecutive appearances was in stark contrast to his first two MLS seasons, during which he missed significant portions of regular-season play. After playing all seven matches of Miami's run to the 2023 Leagues Cup title, minor ailments limited Messi to just six appearances among Miami's last 12 regular-season games that year. He also dealt with multiple issues in 2024, the most pronounced being an extended recovery from a torn leg muscle sustained while playing for Argentina during the 2024 Copa America final that July. He played in only 19 games in his first full MLS season, but he still scored 20 goals and had 16 assists to earn the league's 2024 MVP award. --Field Level Media Field Level Media 2025 - All Rights Reserved
