Vijay Babu, Sandra Thomas clash gets ugly before producers' polls; Facebook spat turns public

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Just some days before the producers' association election, Malayalam cinema has been treated to an unexpected war of words. Sandra Thomas, known for her work both in front of and behind the camera, publicly stressed that association matters should be handled according to official bylaws, not based on any individual's personal credibility. Vijay Babu , the actor, producer, fired back, saying Sandra has had no connection with his banner since 2016 and has no authority to represent it. He also claimed her bid for a leadership role in the association was invalid. Aadu - Official Trailer Sharp words and sharper comebacks From there, the dispute veered into personal territory. Vijay accused Sandra of chasing attention by invoking the names of others in the industry and hinted at jealousy being her motive. He even threatened to leak private messages from 2010 if provoked further. In a bizarre twist, Vijay ended one of his Facebook posts by saying he prefers animals over humans because they're 'more trustworthy.' Sandra's reply was swift and biting: 'He can trust a dog, but I'm afraid the dog may not trust him. ' Vijay Babu's Facebook post read, "When the partnership was dissolved … Ii adopted one instead of you . Yes Sandra you are right . It is more trustworthy than u ." Election heat and industry stakes Sandra believes this year's election could mark the end of the ruling panel's 25-year dominance. She says a wave of new candidates is ready to shake up the system and bring long-overdue reforms to the Malayalam film industry. The election committee of KFPA is set to be held on Thursday and the results will be reportedly out by evening. Recently the Ernakulam Sub Court had dismissed the petition by Sandra Thomas and barred her from contesting for any of the office bearers posts in the election "Get the latest news updates on Times of India, including reviews of the movie Coolie and War 2 ."

'Kathanar The Wild Sorcerer': to Aadu 3': 3D Wave in Mollywood

Mollywood is embracing 3D technology, with filmmakers exploring its potential beyond fantasy genres. 'Aadu 3' is venturing into 3D, showcasing this shift. Jonita Doda highlights the immersive experience of India's first 3D romantic film, 'Salmon 3D,' while Tovino Thomas acknowledges the challenges of 3D filming, emphasizing that content remains paramount, regardless of the format. (Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Watching a movie in 3D is always an immersive experience, despite some critics. Coming to Mollywood, the industry seems to be shifting its gears to a new realm, and the most basic one would be 3D movies. Let's take a look at the 3D wave happening in the Malayalam film industry. 'Aadu' venturing into 3D Jayasurya and Midhun Manuel Thomas' hit series 'Aadu 3' is reportedly in 3D format. This shows how the Malayalam filmmakers are pushing the boundaries of 3D by not only limiting it to fantasy or fictional movies. Director Midhun Manuel Thomas surely would have seen the scope of storytelling via 3D, enhancing the theatrical experience; otherwise, a talented scriptwriter and filmmaker like him wouldn't be opting for such a format. (Picture Courtesy: Facebook) 'It adds a new dimension to the cinematic experience' - Jonita Doda In an exclusive conversation with the actress Jonita Doda, who has been part of India's first-ever romantic 3D film 'Salmon 3D' revealed that it adds a whole new theatrical experience. Talking to ETimes, the 'Salmon 3D' actress said, 'The USP of our film lies in two key aspects. Firstly, it is India's first-ever romantic 3D stereoscopic film, which adds a whole new dimension to the cinematic experience. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Scam Exposed: What They Won't Tell You about zero trust! Salmon 3D - Official Malayalam Trailer (Picture Courtesy: Facebook) 'Shooting with 3D cameras is a very tough thing to do' - Tovino Thomas Now let's move on to the production part of a 3D film. In a conversation with Mid Day, the 'ARM' actor Tovino Thomas said that shooting a movie in 3D is quite challenging. He said, 'Shooting with 3D cameras is a very tough thing to do. It takes more time and effort.' Coming to 'ARM', what the makers did was 3D conversion rather than shooting in 3D camera. He said, ''People won't be able to tell whether we shot it with 3D cameras or converted it later, because the technology has come so far. We already have clear guidelines on how to shoot for 3D conversion — there's a specific approach to follow, and our cinematographer was fully aware of that from the start.' Do all films require 3D? Well, the answer would be a clear NO! While 3D may enhance the theatre-viewing experience, not all stories are perfect that way. There may be several sequences added just for the sake of creating that 3D visual, and this would serve no purpose to the actual storyline. For a movie like 'My Dear Kuttichathan', 3D experience is well worth it. But if one were to pick a 3D format for a film like 'Drishyam', it would be a complete no and would feel complete injustice towards the content of the movie, unless there are some genuine reasons for adding 3D elements (hopefully there won't be any). Coming to the upcoming Jayasurya starrer 'Kathanar The Wild Sorcerer', it's quite sure that the 3D elements will work as everyone knows the storyline and how it can be perfectly suited for a 3D experience. Shooting in 3D or not, as we always say, the content of a movie matters.
