Notre Dame's Aamil Wagner named to the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

The preseason accolades keep rolling in for Notre Dame football, and this time its an honoree along the trenches. Senior offensive lineman Aamil Wagner is one of a record 116 nominees to the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, the foundation announced. The award recognizes college football players across the FBS who exemplify community service, academic excellence and athletic achievement. The honor celebrates student-athletes who use their platforms to create positive change, and it is named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel, who has created a lasting legacy of leadership and humanitarianism. The finalists and recipient will be selected by a national voting committee, with input from a fan vote. The winner will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards show on December 12, airing on ESPN. The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Presentation Gala will follow on January 31, 2026, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. Wagner is the president of the Notre Dame chapter of Uplifting Athletes, an organization that supports the rare disease community and their families. He also leads initiatives to improve the lives of athletes off the field, from youth athletics to college student-athletes. He also volunteers at his local senior center, homeless shelter and church. Former Fighting Irish linebacker Drue Tranquill won the award in 2018 and was a finalist in 2017. Notre Dame's Aamil Wagner chosen as a nominee for the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

There have been numerous instances during this offseason alone in which Notre Dame football players have given back to the community, and now one particular player is being recognized for his efforts. Junior offensive lineman Aamil Wagner has been chosen as a nominee for the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, an honor that recognizes one's commitment to community service and leadership off the field. The Ohio native is one of 197 nominees for the honor. The final list for the 2025 Good Works Team will be announced in September and will consist of 22 football student-athletes and one honorary head coach. In 2024, Fighting Irish linebacker Jack Kiser was selected to the Good Works Team, while Marcus Freeman was named the team's honorary head coach for their efforts in the community. On the field, Wagner has developed into an anchor on the offensive line at right tackle and will continue to be a key piece to a team looking to return to the College Football Playoff. NFL Draft Summer Scouting Report: Aamil Wagner, RT, Notre Dame

NFL Draft Summer Scouting Report: Aamil Wagner, RT, Notre Dame Summer is here, and it is everyone's favorite time of the year, scouting time. Every year, we do Summer Scouting to preview college football for Bucs fans, but also give them an idea of names to follow and watch in the fall as needs pop up for Tampa Bay. Are we going to write about quarterbacks? You know it, but why? Because other NFL teams will draft them, just as they will draft every other position. It all matters whether these players end up on the Bucs, the Bears, or the Steelers. We write these so Bucs fans can be the most informed fans. So if you are still with us, enjoy our latest Summer Scouting report as we prepare you for the Fall. Player Information Player: Aamil Wagner School: Notre Dame Height/Weight: 6-6/290 lbs. Player Background - 4-Star Recruit - Adidas All-American - Two-Time First-Team All-Ohio in High School Career Stats Heading into the 2025 Season - 22 Career Games - 15 Career Starts Notable PFF Numbers Heading into the 2025 Season - 79.7 PFF Run Blocking Grade - 80.9 PFF Pass Blocking Grade - 481 Run Blocking Snaps - 544 Pass Blocking Snaps Player Traits - Quick thinking to be able to handle blitzers - Solid anchor ability - Great length and size to handle bigger edge defenders - Great athlete who can be a lead blocker when tasked with it Player Summary If you want an offensive tackle on your team who will be an enforcer for your entire offense, Aamil Wagner is your guy. If he had skates on, he would be on a Stanley Cup-winning hockey team playing a pivotal role in how they intimidate teams. Instead, he is just playing at Notre Dame and taking out edge rushers who try to get around him. He is constantly taking them out of plays completely, or is simply anchoring well enough to the point they give up on the rep. He needs to get more agile when kicking out, but the raw power and physical traits are there for teams to work with and develop further.
