FM meets Cypriot counterpart

Basant Ahmed Foreign minister Badr Abdel Aty met on Wednesday with Constantinos Kombos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, on the sidelines of the African-European Ministerial Meeting held in Brussels. Abdel Aty praised the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Cyprus and emphasized the importance of capitalizing on the political momentum generated following the two fruitful summits held in January 2025 in Cairo, both bilaterally between Egypt and Cyprus and the tripartite summit among Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece. He pointed out to the importance of activating all agreements and memoranda of understanding signed during the last two bilateral and tripartite summits, as well as previous summits, especially the labor agreement signed between the two countries, expressing his aspiration to raise the level of relations to broader horizons in various fields. The Egyptian foreign minister praised Cyprus' support for Egypt in various European Union institutions, particularly with regard to the European financial package provided to Egypt. He expressed his aspiration to intensify cooperation during the Cypriot presidency of the European Union in the first half of 2026, particularly amid the elevation of relations between Egypt and the European Union to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The two ministers exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest, most notably the Palestinian issue. Abdel Aty briefed his Cypriot counterpart on Egypt's efforts to restore the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid. FM, Cypriot counterpart discuss bilateral relations

Basant Ahmed A phone call took place between Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, and Konstantinos Kompous, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, as part of regular coordination and consultation to support bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. Abdel Aty praised the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Cyprus, expressing his aspiration to advance these relations to broader horizons in various fields. Minister Abdel Aty welcomed Cyprus' support for Egypt in various European Union institutions. The two ministers exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest. Minister Abdel Aty briefed his Cypriot counterpart on Egypt's efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza. FM Praises Qualitative Leap in Egyptian-Tunisian Bilateral Relations

Taarek Refaat Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration praised the recent qualitative leap in Egyptian-Tunisian bilateral relations, stressing the commitment to enhancing joint cooperation in various fields between the two countries. This came during a meeting held by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Friday, in Tunis with Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Tunisians Abroad. The Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the results of the sixth session of the Joint Trade and Industry Committee, chaired by the Ministers of Trade of the two countries, held this April. These meetings will contribute to advancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries and achieving mutual benefit. Minister Abdel Aty emphasized the importance of maximizing the benefits of existing cooperation frameworks between the two countries, continuing the regular convening of joint bilateral committees, particularly the Political Consultation Committee at the level of the foreign ministers of the two countries, and exploring opportunities for trilateral cooperation in Africa. He noted Egypt's keenness to advance bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields and to continue coordination and cooperation in the consular field. He expressed his aspiration to continue joint coordination and cooperation within various regional and international forums to achieve mutual interests. Meanwhile, the two ministers discussed the ongoing developments in the Middle East, exchanging views on the most prominent issues in the Arab world, most notably the Palestinian issue. Minister Abdel Aty reviewed Egypt's efforts to resume implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which would contribute to achieving calm and restoring access to humanitarian and relief aid to the Gaza Strip. During the talks, the two ministers discussed the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction with the presence of Palestinians on their land and future efforts to support the plan with international actors. The two ministers also addressed developments in Libya, where they agreed on the need to support the Libyan-Libyan solution without external dictates or interference, and the need to ensure the withdrawal of all foreign forces, mercenaries, and foreign fighters from Libya, which would contribute to restoring security and stability in Libya. They agreed to continue joint coordination, given that Egypt and Tunisia are neighbors of Libya and are directly affected by the situation there. They also discussed developments in Syria, Sudan, and the Sahel region, and agreed on the need for joint cooperation on combating illegal immigration and terrorism, based on the two countries' combined expertise. FM receives phone call from British counterpart

Basant Ahmed Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Dr. Badr Abdel Aty received a phone call from his British counterpart, David Lamy. Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Thursday that Minister Abdel Aty discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, ways to strengthen them in the political, investment, and economic fields, and the importance of further developing and deepening them in various fields. The call focused on developments in the Middle East, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip. The official spokesperson added that the call also addressed developments in Sudan, where Minister Abdel Aty affirmed Egypt's support for Sudan, its security, stability, national institutions, and the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of its territory. Egypt's Foreign Ministry calls for an end to Israel's aggression on Gaza

Stop war written on palms of a protestor - file CAIRO - 5 April 2025: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, received Sylvestre Radegonde, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Seychelles, on Saturday. During the meeting, Minister Abdel Aty emphasized the depth of the historical relations between Egypt and Seychelles, and their aspiration to enhance cooperation in various fields to achieve mutual benefit. He pointed to the promising opportunities for enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, particularly through increasing Egyptian exports to Seychelles, within the framework of both countries' membership in the COMESA bloc, as well as facilitating access to Egyptian medicines to the Seychelles market, given the preferential treatment Egyptian medicines enjoy on the African continent in terms of quality and competitive prices. The two ministers emphasized their shared commitment to ensuring that this visit yields tangible results that strengthen bilateral cooperation. They expressed their aspiration to enhance cooperation in the tourism sector, the backbone of the Seychelles economy. Minister Abdel Aty expressed Egypt's readiness to exchange expertise and increase Egyptian investments in the hotel and tourist resort sector in Seychelles, building on Egypt's successful experiences in this field in other African countries, in addition to increasing exports of Egyptian products related to hotel equipment. Minister Abdel Aty also emphasized Egypt's keenness to enhance the Seychelles' access to training courses organized by the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development to build capacity, in line with Seychelles' plans to develop its vital tourism sector and diversify its economy. The meeting witnessed a convergence of views on a number of regional developments and issues of concern to the African continent. The two ministers emphasized the importance of achieving stability in international shipping lanes, especially in light of Seychelles' strategic location on the eastern coast of Africa, near the Horn of Africa. They also discussed the repercussions of the war in Gaza and its spread to other regions in the Middle East. Minister Abdel Aty emphasized the need to halt the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and return to the ceasefire agreement, as well as the importance of supporting the Arab and Islamic plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip.
