Emirati Human Resources Development Council and Unilever Middle East sign MoU to empower Emirati talents and boost private sector collaboration
The Emirati Human Resources Development Council (EHRDC) signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Unilever General Trading (UGT) LLC, establishing a strategic partnership to advance Emirati talent in the private sector. The agreement aims to set up a strategic framework for cooperation focused on employment opportunities, upskilling and fostering innovation among the Emirati youth, in line with Dubai's human capital development goals. The agreement contributes to the broader objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071 and Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), both of which prioritise sustainable economic growth, youth empowerment and increased private sector participation in national development. It further supports the federal Emiratisation strategy by generating relevant roles for UAE nationals in leading global organisations. Under the framework of the MoU, both parties will collaborate strategically to support the development and employment of Emirati talent through joint initiatives that promote national talent acquisition, enhance training programmes and facilitate knowledge transfer. H.E. Abdulla Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, Deputy Chairman of EHRDC, said: 'This strategic partnership with a globally renowned private sector leader like Unilever represents a pivotal step in advancing our national talent agenda. It reflects our ongoing commitment to empowering Emirati professionals and equipping them with essential skills needed to thrive in dynamic, innovation-driven industries. The programme also includes tailored coaching and upskilling sessions, with a medium-term goal of retaining top-performing Emirati graduates by facilitating potential promotion to the 1D level upon completion. Dubai Launches Research Awards 2025 to Empower National Talent and Boost Innovation
The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) has launched the first awareness workshop for its newly announced Research Awards 2025, marking a strategic step toward strengthening innovation, research, and national talent development across the emirate's government sector. Held virtually, the workshop drew over 300 participants, including government employees and students from leading academic institutions such as MBRU, MBRSG, HBMSU, and RIT Dubai. The initiative aims to bridge scientific research with practical government challenges to enhance institutional efficiency and drive sustainable development. Abdulla Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director-General of DGHR, described the awards as a milestone in fostering a workplace culture rooted in creativity and knowledge. He emphasized that the initiative supports decision-making and policy formulation by encouraging applied research on current challenges and future opportunities. Dr Amira Kamali, HR Consultant at DGHR, outlined the award's objectives, categories, and submission guidelines, highlighting its role in advancing applied research within the public sector. The event also featured four expert-led sessions on key HR topics, including employee wellbeing, policy development, and lifelong learning. The final date for research submissions is 9 August 2025, with winners to be announced in October. DGHR plans to host a second awareness session in May to further engage participants and support proposal development. DGHR holds first awareness workshop for ‘Research Awards 2025'

The award also aims to promote innovative scientific solutions that cater to the rapidly evolving demands of modern workplaces. The workshop was held virtually with the participation of over 300 employees from various government entities, as well as students from partnering universities – the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG), Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) and Rochester Institute of Technology of Dubai (RIT Dubai). His Excellency Abdulla Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of DGHR, stated that the Research Awards symbolises a landmark milestone in the ongoing efforts to nurture a workplace culture rooted in creativity, innovation and practical knowledge production across diverse domains, with an aim to build a highly flexible and sustainable government ecosystem. Al Falasi added: 'The Research Awards serves as a strategic platform to advance critical thinking and facilitate robust national knowledge production, further supporting key decision-making processes and policy formulation. The award aims to encourage talented individuals, including government employees and university students, to conduct scientific research that addresses both present challenges and leverages future opportunities. It also seeks to combine scientific research and institutional development, as a means to enhance government efficiency. Hence, the initiative reflects our broader vision to promote human capital development and invest in national capabilities, further consolidating Dubai's position as a global leader in efficiency, sustainability and knowledge-based governance.' The workshop was presented by Dr Amira Kamali, Human Resources Consultant at DGHR, who highlighted the award's strategic goals, its categories, submission mechanisms and evaluation criteria. She further underscored the award's significance as a dynamic avenue to bolster applied research activities within the government sector. The workshop featured four specialised scientific sessions, which explored key challenges and opportunities in the human resources domain, with the participation of distinguished academics. These included the 'Employee Wellbeing in the Work Environment' session by Dr Hamda Khansaheb from MBRU; 'Human Resources Management: Reality, Challenges, and Future' session led by Dr Yousif Al Ghalayini from MBRSG; session on 'Developing Human Resources Systems and Policies in Dubai Government' by Dr Ayman Ibrahim from RIT Dubai; as well as 'Job Skills and Lifelong Learning' session led by Professor Mostafa Hassan from HBMSU. The final deadline for receiving research submissions for the award is August 9, 2025, with winners slated to be announced in October this year. DGHR will also organise yet another awareness workshop in May to further raise awareness on the award's objectives, increase participation of government employees and university students, and provide the requisite support needed to prepare research proposals. Furthermore, the Research Awards reflects the wise leadership's long-standing vision to develop effective strategies for human resource empowerment and adopt globally accredited best practices in institutional work.
