'This platform will connect world-renowned experts and educators to equip tomorrow's humanitarian leaders through immersive training programmes and experiential learning,' said Dr Abdulsalam AlMadani, chairman of Dihad Sustainable Humanitarian Organisation and Roving Ambassador of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (Pam) for the GCC Region. Dr Abdulsalam also revealed many upcoming initiatives for Dihad, including the Dihad Opportunities Platform, an empowering initiative launched in collaboration with IACAD and NAFIS. Among them is the Dihad Opportunities Platform, created in partnership with IACAD and NAFIS. "This is designed to empower UAE nationals with the skills, knowledge, and global exposure needed to take on impactful roles within the international humanitarian and development sector," he explained. Furthermore, initiatives like the Partnership Hub and the DIHAD Government Hub will foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders. The Government Hub will act as a collaborative space for policymakers and governments to design forward-thinking humanitarian policies. Meanwhile, the Partnership Hub will connect entities, NGOs, government agencies, and suppliers to foster impactful, cross-sector partnerships. 'What excites me most is not just what we are building, but who we are building it with,' he stated, highlighting the growing network of changemakers involved in Dihad's mission. He envisions this year as a time of acceleration, bold action, and deeper collaboration. action and deeper partnerships, he believes this year will not only continue the conversation but also accelerate it, fueled by an unshakable belief in the power of collective humanity. Dedication to humanitarian work Reflecting on his personal motivations, Dr AlMadani shared how his dedication to humanitarian work was shaped by early values instilled during his upbringing. He cited the enduring legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, as a key influence. 'His vision of generosity, compassion, and unity laid the foundation for not just a nation, but a way of life,' he said. Dr AlMadani also acknowledged his father's role in shaping his perspective: 'Humanity begins at home, in small acts of kindness that ripple outward.' These foundational values instilled in him a belief that service is not optional — it is a duty. Challenges and first projects Dihad's journey began with the creation of the Dihad Conference and Exhibition, a groundbreaking event aimed at uniting humanitarian actors from around the world. 'Convincing stakeholders from diverse sectors to come together for a shared humanitarian vision was no small feat,' Dr AlMadani recalled. Despite early scepticism, he and his team remained committed, confident in the UAE's potential to drive meaningful collaboration. 'What started as a bold idea became a movement,' he said. Recognising that humanitarianism must evolve beyond emergency responses, Dr AlMadani led the founding of the Dihad Sustainable Humanitarian Foundation and the Dihad Humanitarian College. These initiatives emphasise the importance of education and empowerment in creating lasting impact. 'The most effective aid is not just about what we give, but how we give it,' he noted. A cornerstone of this vision is education. The launch of the Dihad Humanitarian College, offering the world's first Master's Degree in Sustainable Humanitarian Action, marks a major milestone. 'Education is not just about information; it's about empowerment through diversity and real-world wisdom,' Dr AlMadani emphasised. Through knowledge, Dihad seeks to nurture leaders who will drive change within their own communities and beyond.
