IPL 2025, PBKS vs DC Live Updates: PBKS with chance to go top of IPL table in re-run of interrupted match

IPL 2025, PBKS vs DC Live Updates: Priyansh Arya and Abishek Porel in action during PBKS vs DC interrupted match in Dharamsala. IPL 2025, PBKS vs DC Live Updates: Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals: When this game first began two weeks ago, it soon found itself interrupted as a blackout in Dharamsala forced play to stop. Now, the ten overs of play from that day are scratched out, and as Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals' prepare for a game in Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium instead, as is much of the jeopardy gone. Delhi Capitals' torrid run of form, which has seen them fail to win in 5 matches, saw them bounced out of the tournament as they were demolished on their trip to the Wankhede Stadium, despite being the best team in the first part of this tournament. Punjab Kings, meanwhile, are now odds-on favourites to finish in the top two as their primary rivals for those positions dropped points in the last two games. With this the second of their three consecutive matches in Jaipur, they remain favourites to see off a low-confidence DC and put themselves in pole to participate in qualifier one. ...Read More A win today will see Punjab Kings vault to the top of the IPL 2025 table, on 19 points and on equal games played as the other three playoff-bound teams. Crucially, with qualification in the bag, it allows the team to get some preparation in against a playoff-calibre team: the earliness of qualification means that the gulf in quality between the top and bottom of the table has been large, but DC are a well-rounded and capable team who haven't played to potential in these recent weeks. PBKS will be given confidence by the start they had in Dharamsala against the same team, which on that occasion had Mitchell Starc and today won't: their young Indian opening duo had put on 130 in just 10 overs before the partnership was broken, and a similar performance will be hoped for against a gun-shy DC new-ball bowling attack. DC, meanwhile, will want to get a consolation win in Jaipur, one which will ensure they end the season with a positive record. A losing record after starting the season 6-2 would be calamitous, and might force a knee-jerk reaction in terms of changes to a team which has made its qualities abundantly clear. After failing to make the most of their chances to qualify in this tournament with humbling wins against stronger teams in GT and MI, this result will allow DC to get a result on the board against a team above them in the table, something they have failed to do all but once this season. Punjab's match to lose, with all the stakes belonging to them. Can they be clinical and put away their northern neighbours, or will DC finally pull it together for a performance that had them at the top not too long ago this year? Follow all the updates here: May 24, 2025 3:48 PM IST PBKS vs DC Live Updates: It's the closing stages of the IPL league matches, and all that remains to be decided is the order of the top four. Punjab Kings have a chance to go top of the table as they prepare to face Delhi Capitals in Jaipur. All the updates as this match plays out, right here!

‘Who gets disqualified after winning 5 in 5?': Social media users react as DC miss out on IPL playoffs after MI loss

Social media was ablaze on Wednesday night as Delhi Capitals (DC) were knocked out of IPL 2025 following a crushing 59-run defeat to Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Memes, debates, and split opinions flooded timelines—while some trolled DC for collapsing after a promising mid-season run, others lauded MI's grit for bouncing back from four straight losses to secure a playoff berth. Delhi's elimination marked the confirmation of this season's top four teams, and fans didn't hold back. From poking fun at DC for 'bottling' their campaign to applauding MI's sharp turnaround, reactions captured the rollercoaster of emotions that define the IPL. The game itself was a clear reminder of how much scoreboard pressure matters in T20 cricket. Mumbai looked to be struggling at 132/5 after 18 overs, seemingly headed toward a below-par total. But a late surge pushed them to 180—an imposing score on a pitch offering grip and turn. In contrast, Delhi's chase never gained momentum. The Capitals were bowled out for 121, ending their playoff hopes with a whimper. One moment, in particular, became the flashpoint of the night. In the fifth over of DC's innings, Abishek Porel was stumped off the bowling of Shams Mulani—a decision that sent social media into overdrive. Clips and screenshots quickly made the rounds, with many fans questioning the third umpire's call and sparking debates over the reliability of DRS and the interpretation of key moments in pressure games. However, as multiple angles emerged, one shot appeared to confirm that MI keeper Ryan Rickelton had dislodged the bails while Abhishek's foot was still airborne—technically justifying the decision and calming some of the outrage. With this win, Mumbai Indians not only booked their spot in the playoffs but also sent a clear message about their late-season resilience. For Delhi Capitals, though, it was a disappointing end to a campaign that had started with hope, surged with momentum, and ultimately fizzled out.

Abishek Porel's controversial stumping ignites uproar in MI vs DC as fans erupt over tricky third-umpire call

The IPL 2025 clash between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium saw a pivotal moment early in Delhi's chase that sparked widespread controversy across social media platforms. Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel's stumping in the fifth over became a significant turning point of the match, contributing to MI's commanding 59-run victory that confirmed their place in the playoffs while ending Delhi's campaign prematurely. Delhi, chasing a competitive 181 set by Mumbai, stumbled early with the loss of key batsmen Faf du Plessis and KL Rahul inside the first three overs. The Capitals were further rattled when Porel, one of their more consistent performers this season, was dismissed after a contentious stumping off the bowling of Will Jacks. The ball, gripping and turning sharply on the Wankhede pitch, coaxed Porel to step out of his crease in an attempt to counterattack. However, wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton's quick glove work saw him collect the ball and dislodge the bails in one swift motion. The decision was referred to the third umpire for a thorough review. The footage presented a split verdict: while some angles showed Porel's back foot possibly lifted before the bails were removed, others suggested it remained grounded inside the crease. Traditionally, in such tight scenarios, the benefit of the doubt favours the batsman. However, after a lengthy analysis, the third umpire ruled Porel out, handing Jacks his first IPL wicket and delivering Mumbai their third breakthrough inside the powerplay. The call drew immediate reactions. Social media was flooded with fans and experts debating the legitimacy of the dismissal. Many shared clips and screenshots appeared to challenge the decision, highlighting the ongoing concerns over the consistency and interpretation of DRS and third-umpire interventions in crucial IPL matches. However, a video angle also showed that Rickelton had dislodged the bails while Porel's foot was still in the air. While Porel himself showed little visible protest, the Delhi dugout's body language revealed clear disbelief. This contrasted sharply with Mumbai's jubilant celebrations, which recognised the moment as a turning point. Delhi Capitals, already struggling at 27/3, never recovered from the early setbacks. Though Vipraj Nigam showed brief resistance, scoring 20 runs with aggressive strokes, Mumbai's bowlers ruled the roost, especially spinners Mitchell Santner (3/11) and Jasprit Bumrah (3/12), who expertly exploited the grip and turn. Ultimately, Delhi folded for 121 in 18.2 overs, handing Mumbai a decisive win that secured their spot in the playoffs for the 11th time.
