28 May 2025 13:42 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Majalis of the Presidential Court's Citizens and Community Affairs Office, has hosted an awareness lecture at Al Wathba Majlis in Abu Dhabi to educate the public on the rights and responsibilities of employers and domestic initiative forms part of ADJD's ongoing commitment to promoting legal awareness and supporting human rights protection efforts, and to fostering legal literacy across all segments of society, thereby strengthening the Emirate's global by Judge Ali Hassan Al Hashemi, Deputy Head of the Abu Dhabi Labor Court, the lecture was held under the Department's Majalisna initiative. It focused on raising awareness of Federal Decree Law No. 9 of 2022 concerning domestic workers, and enhancing the understanding of the contractual relationship between employers and session highlighted key responsibilities of employers-such as setting fair wages, adhering to working hours, and granting leave entitlements-as well as the legal obligations of domestic workers. It also covered the proper legal procedures to be followed in the event of a dispute. 20 May 2025 11:30 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has warned that the potential penalties for spreading rumours, fake news and anti-state propaganda are imprisonment and fines of up to Dh200, a post on its official account on X on Tuesday, ADJD clarified that according to Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on combating rumours and cybercrime, use of the internet or any other information technology platform to post, repost, circulate or re-circulate fake news, false statements and malicious, misleading and erroneous reports, rumours that are contrary to what has been officially announced, or the spread of any sensational propaganda are punishable by imprisonment for at least one year and a fine of Dh100, the case of publishing false information or rumours that agitate public opinion against state authorities during times of pandemic, crisis or disaster, the violator could be imprisoned for at least two years and fined Dh200,000. The couple, previously married in the UK, filed for a no-fault divorce before the Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court. The Abu Dhabi Civil Marriage Law No 14 of 2021 allows civil, non-religious resolutions for expats in matters of marriage, divorce, wills, and inheritance. The divorce was granted in under three weeks during a single court session.
