Vijay Deverakonda's fans seemed to have listened to Vishnu Manchu, as social media is flooded with early fan reviews of the film. Kingdom has opened to overwhelmingly positive fan reviews. Vijay seems to have struck the right chord with the audience, delivering what many are calling his 'peak performance" and 'career-best".
The film, a gripping spy thriller, is written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. Produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, Kingdom marks the beginning of a planned duology. Vijay plays a constable who goes undercover, and he recently expressed his desire to do a full-fledged police role in the future.
One of the film's strongest assets is its music, composed by Anirudh Ravichander. With stylised action, an emotionally driven plot and a pulsating background score, Kingdom is shaping up to be the kind of theatre experience fans have been waiting for. But what's got everyone talking — beyond the film's scale and performances — is a surprise cameo by superstar Nani.
Meanwhile, Vishnu Manchu's cautionary post comes after his film, Kannappa, flopped at the box office. The film was released in June this year, and critics disliked its performances and storyline. Despite cameos by Prabhas and Akshay Kumar, the film had an underwhelming box office run.
