Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom Review: Vishnu Manchu Says 'Watch In Theatres, Don't Rely On Reviewers'
Kingdom Review: Vijay Deverakonda has made a powerful comeback on the screens after a string of underwhelming performances. His latest release, Kingdom, hit theatres today, and fans are rallying behind the actor, praising his top performance. Ahead of the film's release, actor Vishnu Manchu took to X to caution users against the 'dangerous" review culture. He urged fans to watch the film in theatres and make their judgments, instead of relying on critical reviews. Seems like Vijay Deverakonda's fans have paid heed to Manchu's advice!
Vishnu Manchu wrote on X, 'Wishing the best for #Kingdom movie. All the best to @vamsi84, my brother. Best wishes for the entire team @TheDeverakonda @ActorSatyaDev. My sincere request to movie lovers is to go watch the movie in theatres. Don't rely on these so-called reviewers. I will address this dangerous reviewers culture soon. Vijay Deverakonda's fans seemed to have listened to Vishnu Manchu, as social media is flooded with early fan reviews of the film. Kingdom has opened to overwhelmingly positive fan reviews. Vijay seems to have struck the right chord with the audience, delivering what many are calling his 'peak performance" and 'career-best".
The film, a gripping spy thriller, is written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. Produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, Kingdom marks the beginning of a planned duology. Vijay plays a constable who goes undercover, and he recently expressed his desire to do a full-fledged police role in the future.
One of the film's strongest assets is its music, composed by Anirudh Ravichander. With stylised action, an emotionally driven plot and a pulsating background score, Kingdom is shaping up to be the kind of theatre experience fans have been waiting for. But what's got everyone talking — beyond the film's scale and performances — is a surprise cameo by superstar Nani.
Meanwhile, Vishnu Manchu's cautionary post comes after his film, Kannappa, flopped at the box office. The film was released in June this year, and critics disliked its performances and storyline. Despite cameos by Prabhas and Akshay Kumar, the film had an underwhelming box office run.

Shekhar Kapur Says He Was Fired By Dharmendra From Bobby Deol's Debut Barsaat: 'Didn't Walk Out'
Last Updated: Shekhar Kapur has revealed he was fired from Bobby Deol's debut Barsaat, ending years of speculation about the 90s Bollywood shake-up. Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has set the record straight on one of Bollywood's longest-whispered rumours – that he walked away from Bobby Deol's debut film Barsaat. The director says the truth is not this. 'I never walked out, I have been thrown out of films," Kapur told Filmfare. 'Barsaat was an idea that was being developed and I think I wasn't quite understanding Dharam ji's ideas. Then Sunny was in London and he called the next guy who took over, Rajkumar Santoshi. So I talked to Raj ji and told him that since you have done films before with all of them, can you talk to Dharam ji? And he said, 'Haan main sambhal leta hoon.' And the next day I found out, he was directing it. That's it. That's all that happened. People say I walked out of it, but let me be honest, I didn't walk out of it. Mind you, I immediately went and made Bandit Queen." In the 1990s, Bobby's launch was treated like the arrival of a future superstar. The younger son of Dharmendra, he was cast opposite Twinkle Khanna, daughter of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. Barsaat was initially Kapur's project, fresh off his hits Mr India and Masoom. But Bobby says the switch happened after just under a month of shooting. Speaking at the Jagran Film Festival in 2023, he recalled, 'I started shooting for the film very early and Shekhar Kapur was the director. We shot for the film for 27 days. He then got an offer from Hollywood to make Bandit Queen. Shekhar said, 'I will do Bandit Queen and come back to do Barsaat.' But my father told him that he didn't want to delay it. He told Shekhar, 'You go do your film, I will find somebody else.' And I think Rajkumar Santoshi was waiting to direct my film. I got lucky with him." Even on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Bobby poked fun at the shake-up, joking, 'Maybe that's why Shekhar ran away. Shekhar Kapur. He was scared. But then Raj directed the film. But I never thought I was under pressure." Barsaat follows Badal (Bobby Deol), a carefree young man from a small town who moves to the city for college, where he meets and falls in love with Tina (Twinkle Khanna), the spirited daughter of a wealthy and overprotective father. As their romance blossoms, Badal finds himself clashing with Tina's family, particularly her father, who disapproves of their relationship. The story weaves together themes of love, loyalty, and standing up for one's beliefs, with action-packed confrontations and emotional drama driving Badal's fight to win over Tina's heart.
