The Best Mousse for Curly Hair Adds Bounce Back Into Limp Strands
When defining curl pattern and taming frizz, the best mousse for curly hair isn't just a nice-to-have—it's a textured hair care essential. So often, curly and coily hair is misunderstood, with products either weighing it down or drying it out. On the other hand, mousse is light as air (dare we say, whipped, even) and packed with just enough hold; it walks the fine line between structure and bounce, letting curls live their best, most voluminous lives. And unlike heavier gels or creams, a good mousse enhances natural texture without crunchiness. It adds body, combats humidity, and keeps curls soft and touchable. 'Styling mousse is one of those products that can amplify any curl formation and hair routine,' says celebrity hair stylist and creative director of Virtue Labs, Adir Abergel. 'Mousse gives hair instant definition, hold, and moisture.' Abergel adds, 'Finding the right product is all about what works best for your curls. Don't be afraid to experiment a little!' Vogue's Favorite Mousse for Curly Hair In This Story Below, discover the best mousses for every curl type—high-performing formulas that deliver results, from affordable to prestige price points (and yes, even frizzy, dry hair can achieve bouncy curls with the right styling products). The truth behind Nicole Kidman's shock new look: Stylist reveals if A-list star's new pixie cut is the real deal
Nicole Kidman was the talk of the town on Monday when she debuted an edgy new haircut at the 2025 Met Gala in New York. The Australian actress, 57, stepped out at the Metropolitan Museum of Art sporting a slick pixie cut by Adir Abergel which delighted her admirers. But as close-up photos emerged of the new look, fans began to speculate if the star's new hairstyle may in fact be a wig. Nicole's habit of wearing wigs in Hollywood movies has earned her a cult following over the years. The Hollywood star has rarely showcased her natural hair in films since the early days of her career, and almost exclusively wears wigs for all of her movie roles. An Aussie stylist has now weighed in on her most radical red carpet look and believes her new short style could be a mix of her real hair and extensions. 'This could be Nicole's real hair with the length at the back disguised under some artfully placed, clipped or glued in hair pieces,' Bixie Colour hairstylist Andrew Newport said. 'This look, which appears to have been achieved by hair magic, could have been created by taking the hair at the back of the head and braiding tightly to the scalp. Nicole's real hair is featured at the front fringe, plus the hair extensions at the nape would be dressed over the disguised hair. 'This would take a bit of work and considerable time but is 100% achievable.' Speculation about Nicole's new do kicked off just hours after the Baby Girl star walked the red carpet and fans flocked to her hairstylist Adir's Instagram page. Adir shared several photos and videos of the Nicole's short hair as she walked the red carpet, expressing pride in his work. And while followers sang praises of his talents, many believed he had styled a wig rather than Nicole's own hair. One fan went so far as to ask Adir outright, but the hairstylist managed to side-step the question and chose not to confirm or deny. 'As a hairdresser of 32 years I have to say, this hair out shined the dress! Stunning... You are amazing. Is it a wig or did you cut her hair?' the follower asked. 'Thank you baby. I am truly touched,' Adir responded without answering the pointed question. Even Italian hairstylist Marco Bresciani Testa said: 'Great job Well done that Wig suit the perfection [sic] and @nicolekidman makes it so real!' Other fans left their own comments about Nicole's hair, with one saying: 'She always has the best wigs! Love the look!' 'I hope this is not a wig she looks amazing,' said another. 'She looks stunning! If the hair isn't actually cut short it should be,' someone else commented. 'The hair is so striking but it's gotta be a wig, right? She looked classical gorgeous in a years by way,' one person speculated. Another said, 'Beautiful wig,' as someone else wrote: 'Is this a wig or she really did cut all her hair?' 'Please tell me it's not a wig because she looks stunning with this cut,' yet another praised. 'You should always do her wigs,' a final comment read. Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Nicole and her hairstylist Adir for further comment. Whether the new hair is real or a wig, there is one thing Nicole's fans can agree on—it looks incredible. Scores of fanatics shared their thoughts on it, with many praising the star for ditching her common use of hairpieces and showing her 'real' hair. 'Omg Nicole Kidman on the MET stairs… fiercely gorgeous. Love the short hair on this lady!' wrote one. Another said: 'Wow! Nicole Kidman looked stunning. Love love love her new hair style.' Someone else said, 'NICOLE KIDMAN SHORT HAIR THE WORLD IS HEALING,' while one more wrote: 'Obsessed with Nicole Kidman's hair cut.' Yet another pondered, 'Oh snap, when was the last time we've seen Nicole Kidman's real hair?' while one more agreed: 'Nicole Kidman with her real hair today.' 'NICOLE KIDMAN SHORT HAIR NO WIG,' shouted one more fan while another chimed in: 'Nicole Kidman SANS WIG?' Nicole looked incredible in a custom black Balenciaga gown, fitting in with the Superfine: Tailoring Black Style theme. She struck her best sultry expression as she flaunted her new look, slicking back her blonde tresses which featured a brunette undercut. Her backless gown was cinched at her waist and hips with decorative belts, and the Baby Girl star accessorised the look with black gloves. The actress finished her glamorous look with silver and diamond leaf motif pieces by Cindy Chao and added a pop of red to her lips. One of the few times Nicole has displayed her naturally curly hair in a movie was in her first feature film, 1983's BMX Bandits. Interestingly, she is known to get a little touchy when asked her use of wigs. She hung up on The Kyle and Jackie O Show last year when asked about her wigs and also shut down a similar question from a journalist at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2018. Footage surfaced of the cringeworthy moment the star rolled her eyes and swiftly branded the question 'awful'. The Oscar winner appeared dumbfounded after a male podcast host asked her to to rank her favourite films according to the wigs she wore in them. As the press conference burst into laughter, Nicole responded in disbelief: 'It's a very wiggy movie, did you say?' The panel adjudicator then repeated the question, saying: 'He [the podcast host] was saying... he was ranking all your movies by wig and where do you feel like this [Destroyer] falls in terms of that?' Nicole widened her eyes and pursed her lips, before declaring: 'That is an awful question! I am shutting that question down!' The adjudicator agreed Nicole didn't need to entertain the discussion and suggested they 'move on' to a more suitable question. Nicole's cagieness on the subject has led to some wild conspiracy theories. During an episode of their What's The Tee podcast, RuPaul and Michelle Visage jokingly suggested the actress could be using wigs to hide the fact she is bald. RuPaul said 'absolutely nobody does wigs like Nicole', sparking a lighthearted debate about her changing hairstyles. 'The irony is that we rarely ever see Nicole Kidman's hair,' RuPaul said. Michelle swiftly responded: 'I think she's bald!' 'She's not bald!' replied RuPaul, correcting her. 'She's just got curly hair that ends up being very brittle.'

Nicole Kidman's new edgy pixie cut wins fans' approval after ditching her long locks for striking Met Gala look
To judge by her striking new hairdo, you'd think she was at a fringe event. But Nicole Kidman unveiled her radical makeover at one of the biggest fashion events of the year. The actress, 57, wore an eye-catching Balenciaga gown to Monday night's Met Gala, yet it was her cropped, slicked-back cut and wavy fringe that got everybody talking. The long ponytail she sported at a concert by pop star Charli XCX only the day before had disappeared, replaced by a short style that appeared soft and blonde from the front, but dark and edgy at the back. The Babygirl star's hairdresser Adir Abergel, one of Hollywood's most sought-after stylists, said on Instagram that the inspiration was 'a tailored short cut' – a reference to the theme of the New York event this year, 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style'. The gala, an annual fundraiser for the city's Metropolitan Museum of Art, has long been the place celebrities choose to show off a new look. Many fans rushed to Mr Abergel's Instagram to claim the cut is the best hair Nicole 'has ever had' – though some argued that, for most women of a similar age, such an edgy style might be hard to pull off. Lesley Drummond, senior stylist at the John Frieda salon in Mayfair, central London, described the look as 'almost like a bob that's quite long at the front but steeply graduated as you go towards the back'. She added: 'It's the contrast between the blonde at the front and the dark at the back that gives it more depth and makes it look so striking.' Lesley – who half suspects the Oscar winner might have been wearing a very good wig – believes it is nonetheless 'a lovely cut for someone older who might feel a bit insecure about cutting their hair short'. That's because the length at the front gives it the look of longer hair that has been tied back, making it a gateway chop for those unsure if they are entirely ready to give up their long locks. 'It's a style that could work with a lot of different hair types, including curly hair,' Lesley says. The good news is that it doesn't take a lot of skill to style. 'The key to keeping it easy to manage is having regular cuts to maintain the shape – that's where the maintenance comes in. But on a day-to-day basis it's quite straightforward.' That Nicole appears to be moving away from her signature long hair could be seen as something of a watershed moment. A generation ago, long styles on women over 40 were almost unheard of. Then came a backlash that saw the look prevail. 'I think what we're seeing here is a fresher, more modern way of wearing hair short in midlife,' says Lesley. 'It's no longer about women feeling they need to cut their hair because they're older, but about showing that they can embrace individuality, whatever their age, and still look feminine.'

Jennifer Garner calls this spray 'the secret to thinning hair' and it's down to $20
Jennifer Garner has always been the definition of 'hair goals,' and we finally know at least one of the reasons behind her thick, voluminous locks. The veteran actress lists the Virtue Flourish Hair Thinning Density Booster Spray as her "secret to thinning hair" and "the biggest hair innovation for thinning hair in years and years." Luckily, you don't need an A-lister's bank account to give it a try for yourself. Right now, you can snag a bottle for yourself for just $20 when you click the on-page coupon for double discounts. Normally priced at $28, you can grab a two-ounce bottle of the celeb-approved density booster spray for just $20 when you click the on-page coupon for an extra 15% off. That's the lowest price we've ever seen it, so we plan on stocking up while it's still so low. The Virtue Flourish Density Booster was created as a botanical, natural solution to hair thinning, using a clinical-grade protein and nutrient blend to nourish the scalp. The protein is identical to keratin, which makes up the hair, skin and nails and which may be lacking in thinning hair. The spray also works to thicken and strengthen strands while boosting roots and adding more volume to limp locks. Even more, it's designed to add more elasticity and flexibility to strands, helping prevent more breakage and fallout and returning hair to its luscious former look. The spray is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and synthetic colors and dyes. Jennifer Garner is such a fan of spray, she's become an ambassador for the brand after being introduced to it by her longtime hairstylist Adir Abergel, who also happens to be the Creative Director of the brand. In an Instagram Reel together, Jennifer Garner called this "the secret to thinning hair — the biggest hair innovation for thinning hair in years and years." Abergel also emphasized that the spray is "drug-free," with Garner adding that "everything is good in here ... you can use it when you're pregnant, you can use it when you're nursing ... I would have killed for it when I was nursing my babies and so much of my hair fell out." While the Virtue thickening spray is a newer Amazon find, reviewers are already raving about their results after using it and over 300 shoppers have bought a bottle this month alone. "Genetically, I have very fine and thinning hair, and I had noticed that I was losing the little I had," confessed a shopper. "I haven't used it for a long time — about three weeks, give or take a day. I have seen some new growth by my temples and also a reduction in hair loss... So far, my hair is looking better and healthier. Also, I noticed I had very oily hair, and it's less oily now." "Been using this a little over a month and I have new growth happening," marveled another reviewer. "This product is a must-have for us women with thinning hair as we age! It made my hair appear a bit thicker but mostly added softness and smoothness," wrote a third. A few shoppers noted they weren't a fan of the scent. "I don't love the smell," said one new user. "I have fine thinning hair and this product works great! I don't like the smell, but I can get past that for the volume it's created, wrote another.
