Cool temps keep some central Iowa pools closed over holiday weekend
DES MOINES, Iowa — Cooler weather over the Memorial Day holiday weekend delayed the opening of multiple aquatic centers in central Iowa. With warmer temperatures in the forecast, many are trying to open this week. That includes some Ankeny aquatic centers working to open on Tuesday. The Cascade Falls and Prairie Ridge aquatic centers are set to open up, but only if temperatures reach 68 degrees. Summer vibes off at Saylorville Lake Marina amid new restaurant construction Cascade Falls plans to open from noon to 7:00 p.m., and general admission is $10. Prairie Ridge will be open from noon to 6:00 p.m. with general admission costing $6. Cool temps also prevented the city of Ames from opening Furman Aquatic Center as planned. Instead, the center is expected to open on Wednesday. Adventure Bay at Adventureland was affected by the chilly weather as well. It had been scheduled to be open over the holiday weekend, but it remained closed. Opening day is now set for Friday. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
