BTEA signs agreement with Russia's Aeroclub Group
The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) signed a memorandum of understanding with Russia's Aeroclub Group to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of Bahrain's participation as Guest of Honour at the 28th Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum 2025 (SPIEF), held from June 18 to 21.
Sarah Ahmed Buhejji, BTEA Chief Executive, and Denis Matyukhin, Chairman of Aeroclub Group, signed the agreement, which aims to enhance tourism promotion, facilitate knowledge exchange, and develop incentive programmes for business tourism and event management. It also includes cooperation in joint exhibitions and tourism related events, as well as the adoption of innovative travel technologies.
Buhijji emphasised Bahrain's commitment to strengthening ties with the Russian Federation and expanding collaboration across the tourism industry. She noted that the agreement supports Bahrain's strategic direction to diversify international partnerships and boost the tourism sector's contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in line with the 2022–2026 Tourism Strategy.
The MoU is expected to support tourism innovation, sustainable development, and investment partnerships in related sectors such as hospitality, events, and culture, contributing to stronger economic ties between both countries.
