
BTEA signs agreement with Russia's Aeroclub Group
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of Bahrain's participation as Guest of Honour at the 28th Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum 2025 (SPIEF), held from June 18 to 21.
Sarah Ahmed Buhejji, BTEA Chief Executive, and Denis Matyukhin, Chairman of Aeroclub Group, signed the agreement, which aims to enhance tourism promotion, facilitate knowledge exchange, and develop incentive programmes for business tourism and event management. It also includes cooperation in joint exhibitions and tourism related events, as well as the adoption of innovative travel technologies.
Buhijji emphasised Bahrain's commitment to strengthening ties with the Russian Federation and expanding collaboration across the tourism industry. She noted that the agreement supports Bahrain's strategic direction to diversify international partnerships and boost the tourism sector's contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in line with the 2022–2026 Tourism Strategy.
The MoU is expected to support tourism innovation, sustainable development, and investment partnerships in related sectors such as hospitality, events, and culture, contributing to stronger economic ties between both countries.

HH Shaikh Nasser's High-Level Talks with President Putin Cement Next Phase of Bahrain-Russia Relations
The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma has praised Bahrain's participation as the Guest of Honour at the 2025 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), held from June 18 to 20. The commendation came during a special session held to discuss Bahrain's participation in the forum. The meeting was attended by Bahrain's Ambassador to Russia, Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Saati, Russian MP and Bahrain-Russia Friendship Committee member Andrei Svintsov, along with several ambassadors, lawmakers, and figures from the economic and media sectors. Speakers highlighted that Bahrain's involvement reflects the strength of its 35-year diplomatic relationship with Russia and opens the door for deeper economic and political cooperation. They also acknowledged Bahrain's growing international standing, thanks to the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Ambassador Al-Saati reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to strengthening ties with Russia for the benefit of both nations, guided by the vision of His Majesty the King and the directives of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He also pointed to the positive outcomes of meetings held by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa—Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian and Youth Affairs—with Russian President Vladimir Putin and other senior officials. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed during the forum, marking a new chapter in Bahrain-Russia relations.

'Meliã Beachfront' Project Launched
Amwaj Beachfront, an award-winning multi-use development project in Amwaj Island, has signed a partnership agreement with Meliã Hotels and Resorts, the global hotel-management specialist, to oversee the project's hotel and private beach operations, in addition to launching the sale of Meliã Residences. The signing ceremony took place at the site of Amwaj Beachfront project in the presence of Her Excellency Ms. Fatima bint Jaffar Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism and Chairperson of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, His Excellency Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, Chairman of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority, and Mr. Majed Al Khan, Board Chairman of Amwaj Beachfront. The agreement was signed by Mr. Ahmed Khalfan, Chief Executive Officer of Amwaj Beachfront, while Mr. Jordi Sanchís, Senior Development Director – Middle East for Meliã Hotels International, represented Meliã Hotels and Resorts. During the ceremony, the two parties unveiled the project's new brand, 'Meliã Beachfront', and announced the launch of a partnership focused on managing the hotel and its private beach, which will feature the signature Beso Beach experience, while also offering Meliã-branded residences for sale to investors under both residential and hotel ownership schemes. The development offers a wide range of upscale townhouses, luxury apartments and branded residences, alongside a five-star hotel, delivering a fully integrated beachfront lifestyle with an exclusive private beach. Strategically located at the entrance to Amwaj Islands and directly connected to the new Muharraq Ring Road, the project lies only minutes away from key destinations such as Marassi Galleria and Bahrain International Airport.
