The Weeknd is once again one of the most successful artists in the world. That's always the case, but now an important chart proves it.
The Canadian superstar recently released a new full-length, and now he's back inside the top 10 on one of Billboard's most competitive charts. He joins one of the biggest names in hip-hop, and together, they score a global hit – and The Weeknd reaches a new milestone that only a handful of artists have approached.
The Weeknd's new song 'Rather Lie' launches at No. 6 on the Billboard Global 200. The track is fronted by rapper Playboi Carti, and it's one of the highest-debuting titles on the roster that ranks the most-consumed cuts throughout the entire world, as the tally focuses on both streams and sales.
As 'Rather Lie' starts at No. 6, The Weeknd claims his fifteenth top 10 on the Billboard Global 200. That's a feat only a handful of musicians have accomplished since the chart was launched in 2020.
He becomes just the fifth act in history to land 15 top 10s on the list, joining a small but extremely successful group of artists. Drake leads all artists with 35 appearances in the top tier, while Taylor Swift follows close behind with 33. Bad Bunny has now pushed 25 cuts into the region, and 21 Savage comes in just ahead of The Weeknd, with 16.
Despite having sent 15 songs into the top 10 on the Billboard Global 200, The Weeknd has only managed to lead the tally once. 'Save Your Tears,' a collaboration with Ariana Grande, landed at No. 1 in May 2021.
Several other cuts have come close. 'Blinding Lights,' arguably his signature hit, made it to No. 2. So did 'Sacrifice' and 'Die For You,' another duet with Grande.
While 'Rather Lie' is the highest-charting collaborative debut on the Billboard Global 200 this week, it's not the biggest new arrival overall. That honor belongs to another Carti track. His solo release 'Evil Jordan' starts off at No. 4, besting even his team-up with The Weeknd. Not far below them, Chappell Roan's 'The Giver' kicks off its time on the chart at No. 10.
