GAA championship clash ordered to be replayed after scoreboard error

A club game in Cork is to be replayed due to a scoreboard error. Aghada and Kildorrery have to do it all again in Co-op SuperStores IAHC Group 3, with the replay pencilled in for Saturday, August 30 at Páirc Uí Rinn (6.30pm). There will be free entry for supporters. When the sides clashed in Caherlag in late July, a point in first half injury time for Aghada's William Leahy was wrongly attributed to Kildorrery and instead of Aghada trailing by 1-10 to 0-9 at the break, Kildorrery held a 1-11 to 0-8 lead. Aghada stormed back into the game in the second half and a Fionn O'Connor goal and a late Leahy point saw his side draw level before the final whistle. But Aghada were convinced they had won rather than taken a share of the spoils with the official score recorded as 1-22 to 2-19. A Cork County Board Control Committee meeting this week discussed the issue and it was decided to void the original result and for the sides to play again. Last year there was also a result voided due to a scoreboard error, when Kilbrittain's victory over Aghabullogue in the JBHC semi-final was scratched after an appeal and Aghabullogue won the replay.

Midwest Cork hurling and camogie club's teams face talented opponents during summer contests

Moss's masterclass came in an emphatic win over Newmarket in the U12 opener on July 15. The team was captained by Nathan Meyer and Jace Ring added three goals to Moss' five to put the side out of sight. Their adult hurling side made the trip to Rathpeacon GAA on July 14 for a challenge match to allow both sides to fine tune their sides ahead of their championship campaigns. Earlier in the week, Laochra Óg's U14 side claimed an opening day win in the summer league against Aghada in the Ballymacorcoran sunshine. On Friday, July 11, their U12 camogie side went to Killarney for a blitz at Fitzgerald Stadium. Saturday, July 12, saw the U10 camogie team in action in a blitz hosted by Millstreet Camogie Club. Laochra Óg's U14 camogie side closed a weekend of action for the Midwest Cork club in a competitive win against Kilmeen in the summer league. The U14 camogie team finished their summer league campaign with a narrow defeat to St Mary's in Enniskeane on Saturday, July 19.
