British father, 54, dies in crash while on holiday in Greece - leaving his children orphaned
A father has died while on holiday, leaving his children orphaned. Craig Bloomer, 54, who ran a café in Wolverhampton, died after he was caught in a scooter crash while in Greece. He lost control of the moped he was riding and crashed near the village of Agios Mattheos in Corfu in July. He was rushed to hospital, but was pronounced dead by doctors. Hi grieving daughter Rebecca, 32, also from Wolverhampton, said: 'Our dad's loss has left a massive hole in our lives.' She added: We lost our mum two years ago to cancer. Since then, he has been a bit down in the dumps. 'On holiday, it was the happiest I'd ever seen him, he had a new girlfriend. 'He was lovely and a proper family man.' He was known to love motorbikes, old cars, going to the pub, snooker, and was 'really good' at art. The sudden death came after he lost his wife Jane, 53, to cancer. The grandfather had been staying on the island with his two daughters, their partners and their children. His body was flown back to England on Wednesday and the family will start planning the funeral. The heartbroken sisters have launched a GoFundMe to help with the costs.

The much-loved café owner – described by his daughter as the 'happiest' he had been since losing his wife Jane, 53, to cancer two years ago – was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead by doctors. His eldest daughter Rebecca, 32, said: 'Our dad's loss has left a massive hole in our lives. We lost our mum two years ago to cancer. 'Since then, he has been a bit down in the dumps. On holiday, it was the happiest I'd ever seen him, he had a new girlfriend. 'He was lovely and a proper family man.' Craig, who ran The Cafe in Low Hill alongside daughters Rebecca and Danni Perks, 27, was remembered as a big character in the community. Rebecca said: 'The amount of tributes we've had off people for dad, saying how lovely he was and what a character he was. 'He was like marmite, you either loved him or hated him – and most people loved him.' The devastated family had to cut their trip short following the tragedy, returning home on July 29. Craig's body was flown back to the UK on Wednesday, allowing preparations for his funeral to begin. A GoFundMe page to help the grieving relatives to cover costs has already raised more than £3,000. Rebecca said her dad had been the "happiest she'd ever seen him" prior to his sudden passing on holiday - after he lost his wife and Rebecca's mum Jane, 53, two years ago to cancer. Mr Bloomer had been staying in the Greek island alongside his two daughters Rebecca and Danni Perks, 27, and their partners and their children. His tragic passing meant the family had to cut short their holiday, returning several days earlier than planned on Tuesday, July 29. Mr Bloomer's body was flown back to England on Wednesday, August 6, which has allowed the family to begin the ordeal of organising his funeral. They've launched a GoFundMe page to help pay for costs. Since his passing, tributes have flooded in for Mr Bloomer who ran The Cafe in Showell Circus, Low Hill, alongside his two daughters. Paying tribute to her dad, Rebecca said: "We lost our mum two years ago to cancer. "Since then, he has been a bit down in the dumps. "On holiday, it was the happiest I'd ever seen him, he had a new girlfriend. "He was lovely and a proper family man. "He liked motorbikes, old cars, going to the pub, snooker, drawing, he was really good at art." She added: "We own a cafe business which my dad started running after my mum died. "The amount of tributes we've had off people for dad, saying how lovely he was and what a character he was. "He was like marmite, you either loved him or hated him - and most people loved him."
