Al-Sultan Abdullah leads Aidiladha observance in Pahang
KUANTAN: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today performed the Aidiladha prayers with thousands of worshippers at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Mosque in Indera Mahkota here. The ruler was accompanied by Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah. Joining them were Tengku Arif Bendahara Pahang, Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah, and his wife Tengku Natasya Puteri Tengku Adnan. The royal family was welcomed upon arrival at 8.30am by Pahang Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Biotechnology and Education Committee chairman, Datuk Seri Ir Mohd Soffi Abd Razak. He represented Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail who is away in Makkah, Saudi Arabia to perform the haj. Also present at the mosque were Pahang state assembly speaker Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin, state executive council members along with senior state administration officials. The mosque's grand imam Mohd Hafidz Suhailie led the prayers while Pahang Mufti Professor Datuk Dr Asmadi Mohd Naim delivered the Aidiladha sermon. After the prayers, the royal family also witnessed the sacrificial rites at the mosque compound which also involved cows donated by Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tengku Hasannal. Meanwhile, in a post on the Kesultanan Pahang Facebook page, Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah extended their warmest Hari Raya Aidiladha greetings to Muslims including those across Pahang. The posting wrote that Aidiladha serves as a reminder for Muslims to reflect the true meaning of sacrifice, sincerity, and unwavering devotion to Allah SWT. "The spirit of sacrifice shown by Prophet Ibrahim AS and his son Prophet Ismail AS should serve as a guide for all of us in facing challenges and prioritising the well-being of the ummah," it said. The royal couple also prayed that the qurban (sacrificial livestock) performed would be accepted by Allah SWT, bring blessings and unity to the community. "May this celebration be observed with gratitude, harmony, and compassion among everyone. Let us together embrace the wisdom of Aidiladha by strengthening unity, increasing acts of worship, and continually praying for the well-being of our state and our beloved country," it read.

HL: Terengganu authorities enforce quarantine to contain deadly livestock disease By Baharom Bakar KUALA TERENGGANU: A total of 25 livestock, primarily buffaloes, have died following an outbreak of Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (HS) in the Kuala Terengganu district since Monday. State Committee on Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Food Security and Commodities chairman, Dr Azman Ibrahim, said that the outbreak was identified in Dusun Tembakau Village, Manir. "In response, control and prevention measures have been implemented to contain the spread of the disease, including the issuance of quarantine notices under Section 18 of the Animals Act 1953. These notices were delivered to livestock owners yesterday," he said. The State Department of Veterinary Services (JPV) has also issued official notifications prohibiting the movement of cattle and buffaloes in and out of the affected area. "This movement restriction has been enforced to prevent the disease from spreading within a five-kilometre radius of the outbreak site," Azman added. He said livestock owners are only permitted to transfer their animals to designated slaughterhouses - namely, the government-operated facility in Gong Badak, Kuala Nerus, and licensed private slaughterhouses in Tok Rimau Village, Kuala Terengganu. The movement ban came into effect yesterday and will remain in place until further notice. "Decontamination support has also been provided in the form of chlorine-lime drums to six affected farmers, to reduce the risk of further transmission," he said. Azman added that last year, the state government, through JPV, administered 11,731 HS vaccinations. Of these, 342 were conducted in high flood-risk areas, including the districts of Setiu, Dungun and Kuala Nerus.

Online scams cost 302 Pahang Govt retirees over RM20m since 2022
KUANTAN: Over the past three years, from 2022 to 2024, online scams have cost retired civil servants in Pahang more than RM20 million, affecting 302 individuals, the Pahang legislative assembly was told today. State Consumer Affairs and Human Resources Committee chairman Sim Chon Siang said that in 2022, 85 retirees were scammed, incurring losses of more than RM8.9 million. In 2023, 102 retirees were duped, with losses totalling RM3.7 million, while in 2024, 115 victims recorded losses amounting to RM8.9 million. 'Over the same period, 5,658 other individuals were also targeted in online scams, with total losses reaching RM120 million,' he said during the assembly sitting at Wisma Sri Pahang. He was responding to a question from appointed assemblyman Datuk Wong Tat Chee, who asked how many people in Pahang had fallen victim to online scams in the past three years, and the total losses involving retired civil servants. Meanwhile, State Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Biotechnology and Education Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Soffi Abd Razak, said the state government has implemented the Pahang Hybrid School Pilot Project in six schools under the Ministry of Education's Digital Education Policy. He said each school was allocated five classrooms, bringing the total number of classrooms involved to 30. The schools selected for the pilot project are Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Abdul Rahman Talib and SMK Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom in Kuantan, SMK Seri Jengka (Maran), SMK Padang Saujana (Jerantut), SMK Sulaiman (Bentong) and SMK Agama Kuala Lipis (Lipis). He was addressing Datuk Mustapa Long (BN–Padang Tengku), who asked for the list of schools and the number of classrooms involved in the pilot phase of the Digital Education Policy, as well as the sources of funding to support the initiative. Mohd Soffi added that the pilot project also includes SMK RPS Betau in Lipis, a Kampung Angkat MADANI school, which has been allocated two classrooms.
