Ava Max Announces ‘Don't Click Play' Album, Reveals Release Date & Cover Art
Ava Max's new album Don't Click Play is arriving this summer. The set, featuring lead single 'Lost Your Faith,' will be her third full-length album. Max unveiled the album's release date and its cover art on Thursday (May 1). Pop fans will be able to click play on Don't Click Play on Aug. 22. More from Billboard Ava Max Trolls Fans With Fake Petition Protesting Her Own Music Natanael Cano Defies Ban on Narcocorridos, Performs Tumbados at Aguascalientes Fair Bad Bunny Announces Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour: Here Are the Dates The album cover features Max handling the heat in a triangle of fire, her hands grasping edges that are going up in flames — perhaps serving as a visual of the fire-emoji vibes she hopes listeners will feel when they do click play. The triangle is in the form of the familiar symbol that's recognized as a play button. She's dabbling in the art of reverse psychology with this album cycle. Last month, the singer led folks to the website which under the guise of an online petition actually teased an unreleased track. She also shared a photo of a roadside 'Don't Click Play on Ava Max' billboard. With Max's album reveal on X on May 1, she also played on Atlantic Records labelmate Ed Sheeran's Play album announcement, quoting his HQ account's post from the same day; both announcements, of course, made use of the handy play button icon. Don't Click Play is the follow-up to 2023's Diamonds & Dancefloors (which reached No. 34 on the Billboard 200 albums chart) and 2020's Heaven & Hell (Max's debut LP, which peaked at No. 27 and included breakthrough single 'Sweet But Psycho,' a Top 10 hit on the Hot 100 in 2018). Kelly Clarkson Drops Glam Video For ‘Where Have You Been' Single
Kelly Clarkson believes in love again. After dropping the new single 'Where Have You Been' on Friday (May 2), the singer followed up with a high-gloss video for the song in which she rocks a colorful, glittery jumpsuit with billowing arms that looks straight out of the 1970s Cher Las Vegas collection. 'I like my freedom but I'd trade some for a kiss/ Little do you know how long I've been waitin' for this/ When it came to my hopes, well, they left skies I won't miss/ I was getting so lonely I didn't count on, count on this,' Clarkson sings in the visual for the power ballad that shifts from glam shots of the singer and daytime talk show host to dramatic silhouette images of her band members in shadow. 'It's Martin Short's face,' she told listeners on her SiriusXM show last week. 'He says to Meryl Streep's character in the show, 'Where have you been?'' The song's soaring chorus says it all: 'Where have you been?/ What took so long?/ I thought I'd found you/ Found out I was wrong/ I almost gave us/ My light was so dim/ And now, here you are/ Where have you been?' 'He's like in awe, and I was like, 'Has anyone written a song?'' Clarkson continued on the episode that aired the day before the song's release. 'Because the song is happy, 'cause it's like you found something that you thought was almost basically a unicorn and did not exist.' Streep and Short's characters got married in the fourth season of the murder mystery show and, in a too-sweet parallel, the two actors are rumored to be dating for real as well. Clarkson's band shines in the second half of the video, with the stage bathed in golden light as they come into focus and the singer belts out one of her signature clear-as-a-bell high notes. Keith Urban to Receive Prestigious Triple Crown Award at 2025 ACM Awards
Keith Urban will be honored at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday (May 8) with the prestigious Triple Crown Award. The award signifies an achievement that only 11 previous artists have reached by winning new artist of the year and artist of the year in their respective genre or designation and entertainer of the year. Urban qualified by winning top new male vocalist in 2001, male vocalist of the year in 2005 and 2006, and entertainer of the year in 2019. He is the first artist to receive this honor on the ACM Awards telecast since Carrie Underwood in 2010 at the 45th ACM Awards. (The award is generally given at the ACM Honors in August now as it was to Lainey Wilson last year). Urban's 18-year span between top new artist and entertainer of the year is the longest of any recipient and is a testament to his enduring career. He is also the first non-American to win the award: Urban was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia. 'I came halfway around the world to live in Nashville,' says Urban who moved to Music City permanently in 1992. 'It was my dream since I was seven years old. All I ever wanted to do was write songs, try and get them recorded, try and get them on the radio, and now get them on streaming. And hopefully people like them and want to come and see me live. That's never changed.' Urban recalls his first win for top new male and how unreal it felt even to be nominated. 'I remember the first time seeing my name in the nominees and it felt like when you go to the theme park and you can get your picture taken and put on the front of a fake Time Magazine as a souvenir. I felt like that,' he says. 'It wasn't real. It had that surreal quality.' But it was real, and Urban has been on a winning streak ever since, landing 20 No. 1 songs on Billboard's Country Airplay chart and selling out arenas around the world. When he won entertainer of the year, he'd been nominated and lost eight times before and was expecting the same result. 'I would just celebrate the nomination, not really thinking I'm going to win and I'm good with that. I was very content and grateful,' he says. 'And so [to win]— and in hindsight, now, for it to happen the year before COVID— was particularly a wonderful blessing because it was a big night, an arena full of people celebrating.' He will soon be joined by people celebrating in full arenas later this month when his first tour in three years, the High and Alive world tour, kicks off May 22 in Orange Beach, Alabama. He hopes that his Triple Crown victory can encourage other artists from outside the U.S. to come to Nashville and pursue their musical dreams as well. 'In particular, if it inspires some people from other countries who have a dream of coming to America, then that's a good thing,' he says. 'It took a lot of years of living in [Nashville] and becoming part of the community. But it's absolutely achievable if you're willing to put in the hard work and the time.' The ACM Awards, hosted by Reba McEntire, will stream live for a global audience across 240+ countries and territories on Prime Video and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch on May 8, at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT / 5 p.m. PT from the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The ACM Awards are produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a joint venture between Eldridge Industries and Billboard parent company Penske Media. Maggie Rogers to Speak at Alma Mater NYU Tisch School of the Arts 2025 Graduation
Maggie Rogers is headed back to her alma mater to help send off this year's class of graduates, with the singer/songwriter announcing Monday (May 5) that she'll speak at the 2025 New York University Tisch School of the Arts commencement ceremony later in the month. Sharing a nine-year-old photo of herself in her purple graduation robes and cap, Rogers — who completed a bachelor's degree at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in 2016 — posted the news on Instagram and wrote, 'see you at graduation.' The ceremony will take place May 16 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Rogers' participation in the school's commencement is sure to be a full-circle moment, given how her career first took off when she was still in an NYU classroom. A filmed 2016 masterclass guest-led by Pharrell Williams for the Clive Davis Institute famously propelled the Maryland native into the spotlight, with the producer declaring in the viral video that he'd 'never heard anyone like' Rogers after listening to her then-unfinished song 'Alaska' during the session. The musician has since dropped three albums, all of which charted on the Billboard 200; Heard It in a Past Life, which features 'Alaska,' arrived in 2019, followed by 2022's Surrender and 2024's Don't Forget Me. In addition to earning her bachelor's at NYU, Rogers also finished a master's degree in religion and public life at Harvard University in 2022. See Tisch's announcement below.
