The album cover features Max handling the heat in a triangle of fire, her hands grasping edges that are going up in flames — perhaps serving as a visual of the fire-emoji vibes she hopes listeners will feel when they do click play. The triangle is in the form of the familiar symbol that's recognized as a play button.
She's dabbling in the art of reverse psychology with this album cycle. Last month, the singer led folks to the website DontClickPlayOnAvaMax.com, which under the guise of an online petition actually teased an unreleased track. She also shared a photo of a roadside 'Don't Click Play on Ava Max' billboard.
With Max's album reveal on X on May 1, she also played on Atlantic Records labelmate Ed Sheeran's Play album announcement, quoting his HQ account's post from the same day; both announcements, of course, made use of the handy play button icon.
Don't Click Play is the follow-up to 2023's Diamonds & Dancefloors (which reached No. 34 on the Billboard 200 albums chart) and 2020's Heaven & Hell (Max's debut LP, which peaked at No. 27 and included breakthrough single 'Sweet But Psycho,' a Top 10 hit on the Hot 100 in 2018).

Morgan Wallen Is Making Sure He Won't Get Any Grammy Nominations by Not Submitting

Morgan Wallen is ensuring his streak of never receiving a solo Grammy nomination continues by declining to submit his latest album, I'm the Problem, for consideration. Wallen's team confirmed the news to Rolling Stone, after it was first reported by Hits Daily Double and Billboard. Not only will Wallen not submit I'm the Problem — which has spent 11 weeks so far at Number One on the Billboard 200 — in any of the album categories, he also won't submit individual recordings in categories like Record of the Year or Best Country Solo Performance. More from Rolling Stone Morgan Wallen Taps Lil Wayne and Rick Ross for 'Miami' Remix Travis Scott's 'Jackboys 2' Tops Albums Chart Grammys Introduce New Country Album Category, Best New Artist Rules for 2026 Additionally, Wallen won't seek songwriting nominations for any of the tracks he co-wrote on I'm the Problem. But as Billboard notes, Wallen's team won't stop any of the songwriters he worked with from putting up their work for consideration. Wallen isn't the first major artist to decline to submit their music to the Grammys. Most recently, Drake, the Weeknd, and Frank Ocean have rebuffed the institution, criticizing the nominations committees and voting body for being disconnected from what's actually popular and meaningful to contemporary audiences, especially in their worlds of hip-hop and R&B. After he declined to submit Blonde, Ocean said in a 2016 interview that the Grammys don't 'seem to be representing very well for people who come from where I come from, and hold down what I hold down.' He added: 'I think the infrastructure of the awarding system and the nomination system and screening system is dated. I'd rather this be my Colin Kaepernick moment for the Grammys than sit there in the audience.' (The Recording Academy has taken some steps in recent years to diversify its voters and nominees, and add some transparency to its nominations process. Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. noted these efforts at the 67th Grammys in February before introducing a beef-squashing performance from the Weeknd.) Unlike Wallen, however, Drake, the Weeknd, and Ocean staged their protests as multiple Grammy winners. (Though, potentially bolstering their critiques, all their victories were in genre categories, as opposed to the general fields of Song, Record, and Album of the Year, or Best New Artist.) Wallen has been nominated at the Grammys just twice, and both times as a featured artist on Post Malone's 'I Had Some Help.' James Gunn Reveals Wild Alternate Ending for PEACEMAKER Season 1 That Would've Flipped the Series — GeekTyrant

What if Emilia Harcourt hadn't made it out of Peacemaker Season 1 the way we thought? Peacemaker creator James Gunn recently dropped a mind-blowing revelation about a very different ending he once considered for the first season of the HBO Max hit series. On Peacemaker: The Official Podcast , Gunn shared that in an early version of the story, Jennifer Holland's Harcourt didn't walk away unscathed from the alien chaos… she became one of them. 'Harcourt got taken over by Goff,' Gunn said, referring to the Butterfly queen who was originally hosted by Senator Goff before hopping into Detective Sophie Song. 'There was more of a pronounced line of Goff being in love with Peacemaker, and Peacemaker is in love with Harcourt, and he keeps her alive and stays with Harcourt even though she's been taken over by Goff.' That plot twist would've changed everything heading into Season 2. According to Gunn, this wasn't something that made it to a finished script, but it was definitely a strong contender in the planning phase. 'When I say I changed it, these were all just outlines where I was trying to figure stuff out. It was a possible [direction], but it wasn't a fully written script. In that version,Season 2 would have been Goff as Harcourt.' Holland, who's portrayed Harcourt since The Suicide Squad , seemed relieved that version didn't make the cut. 'I just can't imagine a version that's not what Season 2 is now, so I'm grateful it is what it is,' she added on the podcast. It's clear she's enjoying the ride. Talking to CB, Holland spoke about what it's like embodying such a badass human in a world full of metahumans. 'Right now I'm really enjoying playing a human being in a world of superheroes,' she said. 'I'm playing a person who is, in some ways, superhuman in her strength for a small, petite person. But I have to look like, and feel like, a person who can actually be capable of the type of destruction that she's capable of. And that's a really interesting person to play.' She added, 'I have to work really hard on my body and my capabilities with fighting and [skills], because you need to believe that she's capable of doing these things. And that's a fun challenge.' In Peacemaker Season 1, Harcourt and John Cena's Chris Smith shared a slow-burning chemistry that played out as they fought alongside Team Peacemaker, including Steve Agee's Economos, Danielle Brooks' Adebayo, and Chukwudi Iwuji's Murn, to stop the Butterfly invasion. Their bond began to deepen in the episode 'Better Goff Dead' during the mission to eliminate Senator Goff. That mission kickstarted the twisted trajectory of the Butterfly queen Goff, who later inhabited Detective Song and almost triggered Earth's doom. But Peacemaker, being Peacemaker, chose to spare Goff in the end, keeping the alien alive in a jar and feeding her the last of the alien 'cow' fluid that sustains her kind. Season 2 is set to pick up with Smith still haunted by his past and clinging to whatever hope he has left. Peacemaker Season 2 hits HBO Max on August 21st.
