Two killed, one injured in head-on crash in Machang
KOTA BHARU: Two people were killed and another was injured when two cars collided head-on along Jalan Machang–Kuala Krai, near Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Abdul Samad, early this morning. Machang district police chief Supt Ahmad Shafiki Hussin said the accident occurred at 12.05 am and involved a Honda Accord heading in the Kuala Krai-Kota Bharu direction and a Perodua Axia. He said the Honda Accord driver, a man, was killed on the spot, and the female driver of the Perodua Axia died while receiving emergency treatment at Hospital Machang. A teenage girl travelling in the Perodua Axia was injured and taken to Hospital Machang. 'Preliminary investigations found that the Honda Accord went out of control and collided with the oncoming Perodua Axia,' he said in a statement. Ahmad Shafiki said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. He urged anyone with information on the accident to contact investigating officer Insp Fatin Nurhanis Ibrahim at 011-1454020 or the Machang police operations room at 09-9751222. Machang Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Suhaimi Razali said the two drivers and the Perodua Axia passenger were trapped in the wreckage of the crash. 'Firemen used power unit rescue tools to remove the victims,' he said when contacted.

Second victim dies in Machang head-on collision
MACHANG: Another person has died following a head-on collision between two cars at Km30.3 of Jalan Kota Baru–Kuala Krai in Pulai Chondong, near a secondary school, early this morning. District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Shafiki Hussin said the 26-year-old driver of a Perodua Axia was pronounced dead while receiving emergency treatment at the Machang Hospital. This brings the total number of fatalities to two, including the 30-year-old driver of a Honda Accord who died at the scene after being pinned to his seat. "The incident occurred at 12.05am. Preliminary investigations showed that both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions. "Upon reaching the location, the driver of the Honda Accord is believed to have lost control, veered into the opposite lane, and collided head-on with the Perodua Axia, which was carrying the driver and a teenage female passenger," he said in a statement today. Ahmad Shafiki said the Honda Accord driver died on the spot, while the Perodua Axia driver succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The Perodua Axia's passenger sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Machang Hospital. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Ahmad Shafiki urged witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation. "Anyone with relevant details is urged to contact Traffic Investigation Officer Inspector Fatin Nurhanis Ibrahim at 011-1454020 or the Machang district police operations room at 09-9751222," he said.

One dead, 13 injured in three-vehicle crash in Machang
MACHANG: A man was killed and 13 others were injured in an accident involving three vehicles at Kilometre 9.4, Jalan Machang-Pasir Puteh (Banggol Judah), here last night. Machang district police chief, Superintendent Ahmad Shafiki Hussin, said the incident, which occurred at around 11.45 pm, involved a Chevrolet four-wheel drive, a Proton Waja and a Perodua Kancil. 'Initial investigations found that the Chevrolet pickup truck carrying five individuals from Machang to Pasir Puteh lost control and skidded into the opposite lane before colliding head-on with a Proton Waja carrying six individuals from the opposite direction,' he said in a statement today. As a result of the collision, the driver of the Proton Waja died at the scene of the incident after being trapped in the vehicle. 'The Perodua Kancil that was behind the Proton Waja with three individuals including a child was also involved when it crashed into the involved vehicle,' he said. Ahmad Shafiki said the victim's body had been sent to Machang Hospital for a post-mortem, while 13 other injured victims were taken to Machang Hospital and Tanah Merah Hospital for further treatment. According to him, the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. In this regard, the public who have information related to the incident are asked to assist in the investigation by contacting Traffic Investigating Officer, Insp. Fatin Nurhanis Ibrahim at 011-1454020 or the Machang district police headquarters operations room at 09-9751222.

In Kelantan, man killed after car crashes into lorry in Machang
MACHANG, May 7 — A 46-year-old man was killed when the car he was driving crashed into a lorry at KM50.5 of Jalan Kota Baru–Kuala Krai, here yesterday. Machang district police chief Supt Ahmad Shafiki Hussin said preliminary investigations found that the victim was driving a Proton Wira from Kota Baru towards Kuala Krai when the crash occurred at about 11.55am. 'Upon arriving at the scene, the victim lost control of the car, skidded into the opposite lane, and collided with a Scania lorry travelling from Kuala Krai towards Kota Baru. 'The car's driver was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was sent to Machang Hospital for a post-mortem,' he said in a statement, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
