Acid Reflux and Burping Too Often? When It's Time to See a Houston GI Doctor

REPORT Listly by Ahmed Ahmed It's normal to burp occasionally after a big meal or a fizzy drink. But if you find yourself burping excessively or constantly battling heartburn, it might be more than just indigestion. These symptoms could be signs of acid reflux burping or even stomach inflammation gastritis, both of which may need attention from a qualified Houston GI specialist. If you're searching for a trusted digestive disease center near me, knowing when to seek help can make all the difference in protecting your long-term digestive health. What Causes Excessive Burping and Acid Reflux? Burping is your body's way of releasing excess air from your stomach. But when it's frequent—especially when paired with symptoms like a burning sensation in the chest or regurgitation—it may signal gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or underlying stomach inflammation gastritis. Common triggers include: Eating large or fatty meals Carbonated beverages Smoking or alcohol use Chronic stress Certain medications An H. pylori infection (a leading cause of gastritis) These factors can irritate your digestive tract and lead to persistent acid reflux burping and inflammation of the stomach lining. When Is Burping a Problem? Burping too often—more than three or four times after every meal—or having it paired with other symptoms could indicate something more serious. Warning signs include: Persistent heartburn or sour taste Upper abdominal pain or bloating Nausea or vomiting Loss of appetite Fatigue or weakness (possibly due to anemia) Dark or tarry stools If these symptoms sound familiar, it's time to consult a Houston GI doctor at a reputable digestive disease center near me. Ignoring them may allow your condition to worsen, making treatment more complicated. Could It Be Gastritis? Yes. Stomach inflammation gastritis can mimic symptoms of acid reflux but is often caused by damage to the stomach lining. This can result from bacterial infections, long-term NSAID use, or lifestyle factors. Chronic gastritis can lead to ulcers, bleeding, or even an increased risk of stomach cancer. A Houston GI doctor can diagnose gastritis using tools like: Upper endoscopy Blood tests Stool tests Urea breath test for H. pylori Once diagnosed, treatment often includes acid-suppressing medications, antibiotics (if H. pylori is present), and diet modifications. Why Choose a Digestive Disease Center Near You in Houston? When symptoms persist, early intervention at a digestive disease center near me can prevent complications. The benefit of seeing a Houston GI specialist includes: Personalized diagnosis and care State-of-the-art diagnostic tools Proven treatments for acid reflux burping, gastritis, and more Ongoing management and lifestyle guidance Take Control of Your Digestive Health Don't brush off frequent acid reflux burping or ignore stomach discomfort. These may be early signs of more serious conditions like stomach inflammation gastritis. If you're in the Houston area, connecting with a Houston GI doctor at a nearby digestive disease center near me can help you get relief and avoid long-term complications.

Springfield Police SVU arrest man in connection with rape and kidnapping

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man was arrested in Springfield on Tuesday for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teenage boy. The Springfield Police Department stated in a news release that on Friday, May 30, officers received a report of a sexual assault. Springfield woman turns herself in for Old Navy merchandise theft in South Windsor The man allegedly sexually assaulted the victim, who was eventually able to escape. He reportedly ran about one mile home as the suspect chased him. Springfield Police Special Victims Unit (SVU) detectives began investigating the incident by reviewing city cameras and speaking with the victim and witnesses. On Tuesday, SVU Detectives were granted a warrant for the arrest of the suspect, 53-year-od Ahmed Ahmed. At approximately 4:00 p.m., Ahmed was found on the 700 block of State Street and arrested. Ahmed Ahmed (Homeless) was charged with: Kidnapping Aggravated Rape during the Commission of a Felony Witness Intimidation Stalking Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon 'This type of assault by a stranger is extremely rare in our city, yet undoubtedly alarming,' said Springfield Police Superintendent Lawrence Akers. 'I'd like to thank our Special Victims Unit Detectives who worked tirelessly on this case with a thorough investigation that will hopefully bring some justice to this victim and his family. I'd also like to urge our residents to always be aware of their surroundings and walk in a group if possible. While I can't recall an incident similar to this, it is a painful reminder that these horrendous events can happen ever so quickly. By this victim courageously coming forward and allowing our Detectives to do their job and arrest Mr. Ahmed, hopefully this will prevent any future acts of violence.' Implantica announces that UK NICE has published positive recommendations for the RefluxStop™ procedure in the NHS public hospitals

VADUZ, Liechtenstein, June 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Implantica AG (publ.), providing the unique device RefluxStop™ for the treatment of acid reflux, announces that the world-renowned National Institute for Healthcare Excellence (NICE) payer advisory agency for NHS public hospitals in the UK has published positive Interventional Procedures Guidance (IPG) recommendations on the RefluxStop™ procedure, wherein GORD/GERD patients with Ineffective Oesophageal Motility (IOM/IEM) are allowed to be operated with RefluxStop procedure in the public healthcare system, following its guidelines and special arrangements. In the treatment field of acid reflux up to 40-50%1 of the 1 billion sufferers have IOM/IEM. Therefore, NICE IPG recommendations could transform the lives of millions of patients in the UK and worldwide, given NICE's global influence on health policy development. The IOM/IEM condition is largely untreatable with traditional standard of care. Mr. Ahmed Ahmed, Consultant Surgeon at St. Mary's Hospital, Imperial College NHS Health Trust says, "The positive NICE guidance for use of RefluxStop is a major victory for GORD patients. This decision empowers NHS Anti-Reflux Surgeons to continue delivering cutting-edge care while contributing to the growing body of evidence supporting RefluxStop procedure as a transformative solution for GORD. My patients have heard about RefluxStop procedure as they seek a solution for GORD and ask for it specifically by name. It will be very reassuring for GORD patients to have this supporting evidence-based guidance." Another leading surgeon in the NHS public hospitals, Mr. Fergus Noble, Consultant Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, adds, "NICE's new guidelines are crucial for the broader use of a new procedure in the NHS. I'm proud to be a part of this important step forward in expanding the landscape of anti-reflux surgical options for patients with GORD and IOM. Unlike traditional anti-reflux surgeries, the RefluxStop procedure does not rely on encircling the oesophagus, making the durable benefits of a surgical treatment for GORD available to desperate patients who have struggled with the painful symptoms of combined GORD and IOM with poor motility for years." Inventor of the RefluxStop™ procedure, CEO and Founder of Implantica, Dr. Peter Forsell says, "We would like to thank NICE for their independent multidisciplinary assessment of the RefluxStop procedure and invaluable efforts to recognize the excellent safety and efficacy of the innovative RefluxStop™ procedure for use in NHS public hospitals. This recommendation for GORD/GERD patients with IOM marks the start of a global paradigm shift in the surgical treatment of acid reflux, with the NHS UK taking the lead." 1. Implantica is listed on Nasdaq First North Premier Growth Market (ticker: IMP A SDB). Visit for further information. About RefluxStop™ RefluxStop™ is a new innovative treatment that has the potential to spur a paradigm shift in anti-reflux surgery. It's unique mechanism of action differentiates it from standard of care and current surgical solutions. Longer established surgical options for GORD involve encircling the food passageway to support the lower oesophageal sphincter's closing mechanism and are commonly associated with side effects such as swallowing difficulties, pain when swallowing and inability to belch and/or vomit. In contrast, the RefluxStop™ device treats the cause of acid reflux without encircling and putting pressure on the food passageway. It restores and maintains the lower oesophageal sphincter in its original, natural position. The RefluxStop™ mechanism of action is focused on reconstructing all three components of the anti-reflux barrier, that if compromised could possibly result in acid reflux. It restores and supports the natural anatomical physiology of the body allowing the body to itself solve the problem with acid reflux.
