Algeria and Mauritania wrap up TotalEnergies CAF CHAN preparations with Blida draw

Published: Tuesday, 29 July 2025 Algeria and Mauritania concluded their final warm-up before departing for the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 with a spirited 2-2 draw on Tuesday night at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida. With just days to go before the continental tournament kicks off in East Africa, the two CHAN-bound sides used the friendly as a dress rehearsal, offering a glimpse into their readiness, tactical identity, and hunger for success. The draw — in front of a lively home crowd — offered both coaches valuable insight into their teams' preparedness. It was the last opportunity to fine-tune selections, test systems, and assess individual performances before heading east for the month-long championship co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. CHAN 2024 begins on Saturday, 2 August with hosts Tanzania taking on Burkina Faso in Dar es Salaam. Algeria, runners-up in the previous edition, are aiming to go one better this time around, while Mauritania hope to cause upsets in what will be their most ambitious continental outing yet. In Blida, Mauritania struck early through striker Ahmed Ahmed in the 5th minute, punishing a defensive lapse and announcing their intent to be aggressive from the start. But Algeria responded strongly — Mosalla Merbah equalised in the 21st minute after a flowing attacking move. Mauritania regained the lead before halftime with a composed finish by Sidi Tuda in the 38th minute, giving the West Africans a 2-1 lead heading into the break. Algeria came out pressing high in the second half, but were repeatedly denied by Mauritania's organised backline. The breakthrough came in stoppage time — Abderrahmane Meziane rifled home in the 90+1st minute to make it 2-2, much to the delight of the local supporters. For both teams, the result was less important than the performance — and coaches will be encouraged by the high intensity and individual quality on display. Algeria are drawn in Group C alongside host nation Uganda, South Africa, Guinea, and Niger. The Fennecs are under pressure to deliver after losing the CHAN 2023 final on home soil to Senegal. Mauritania will compete in Group B where they'll face Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, and the Central African Republic. The Mourabitounes will be eager to show that they're no longer outsiders and are capable of going deep into the competition. As the squads prepare to jet off to East Africa, both teams can take confidence from Tuesday's friendly, knowing that the real battle begins this weekend when the TotalEnergies CHAN 2024 gets underway.

Blue Veins, Knee Pain & Expert Help in Houston: What Your Legs Are Telling You

REPORT Listly by Ahmed Ahmed If you've ever wondered why veins are blue in colour, or felt persistent aching in your knees, you might be closer to a vascular or joint solution than you think. The truth is, the veins of the legs anatomy play a far bigger role in daily comfort than most people realize. These veins—superficial, deep, and perforator—work nonstop to return blood to your heart. But when they weaken or become damaged, symptoms like bulging veins, leg heaviness, and even knee pain can appear. That's where modern vascular care comes in, blending anatomical understanding with non-surgical solutions like the GAE knee procedure. The GAE knee procedure near me (Genicular Artery Embolization) has quickly become one of the most exciting breakthroughs for people dealing with chronic knee pain due to osteoarthritis. Rather than replacing the knee or relying on medications, this image-guided technique targets the arteries supplying inflamed joint tissue. The result? Reduced pain, improved mobility, and no surgery required. It's especially powerful when combined with a detailed understanding of leg vein circulation—because when vein doctors in Houston know how to manage both vascular and joint health, patients see faster, safer results. These Houston vein experts are not just treating blue veins for appearance—they're using the deeper veins of the legs anatomy to guide long-term recovery and comfort. And let's not forget: when you see blue veins appearing more prominently, there's more than meets the eye. Why veins are blue in colour often comes down to how light hits the skin and reflects from oxygen-poor blood—but in some cases, it's also a visible sign that deeper vein issues may be forming. If you're experiencing leg swelling, muscle fatigue, or knee pain that limits movement, don't ignore it. Instead, search for the GAE knee procedure near me and connect with trusted vein doctors in Houston who understand the science behind your symptoms—and offer real solutions. With the right care and education, your legs can carry you forward pain-free.

VADUZ, Liechtenstein, June 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Implantica AG (publ.), a MedTech company at the forefront of treatment for acid reflux with its unique device RefluxStop™, a treatment field with 1 billion sufferers, announces the successful first UK National Users Meeting bringing together 21 top anti-reflux experts in UK last week. Surgeons exchanged their real-world experiences and delved into the positive National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommendations on using RefluxStop in NHS hospitals, opening a vast opportunity for RefluxStop procedures in patients with poor motility, representing up to 40-50%1 of the acid reflux (GERD/GORD) sufferers. Mr. Ahmed Ahmed, a renowned anti-reflux surgeon at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, says, "As more and more patients ask for RefluxStop, I'm very pleased to play a part in this unique opportunity to collaborate with my colleagues to offer the latest and greatest treatment options to our GERD patients, such as RefluxStop. I'm already seeing a rapidly growing demand for RefluxStop, in line with excellent outcomes achieved in my current RefluxStop patients. On behalf of the GERD community, I would like to thank NICE and all involved stakeholders for their dedication to helping GERD patients who truly need effective treatment for this debilitating disease." Founder and CEO of Implantica, Dr. Peter Forsell, adds, "We sincerely thank and appreciate the world-leading healthcare policy advisory body, UK NICE, for their extensive and thorough review and announcement of the final positive recommendations for the RefluxStop™ procedure. Given how rampant GERD is in the UK, with up to 20% of the adult population struggling with the persistent discomfort and pain from the disease, the NICE recommendations for RefluxStop procedure couldn't be more appreciated among UK specialists, addressing the huge unmet need and treatment gap, especially for the GERD patients who have poor dysmotility.¹ Dr Forsell continues, "I'm truly impressed by the great enthusiasm for RefluxStop™ from the esteemed UK surgeons and other experts. Following the highly successful UK RefluxStop™ users meeting where several UK surgeons presented their excellent outcomes and patient satisfaction results, and now with the very supportive NICE recommendations, it's clear to me that RefluxStop™ will transform the reflux treatment landscape in the UK, and ultimately worldwide, in the coming future." 1Shih-Chi Ho et al., Ineffective esophageal motility is a primary motility disorder in gastroesophageal reflux disease. About RefluxStop™ RefluxStop™ is a new innovative treatment that has the potential to spur a paradigm shift in anti-reflux surgery. It's unique mechanism of action differentiates it from standard of care and current surgical solutions. Longer established surgical options for GERD involve encircling the food passageway to support the lower esophageal sphincter's closing mechanism and are commonly associated with side effects such as swallowing difficulties, pain when swallowing and inability to belch and/or vomit. In contrast, the RefluxStop™ device treats the cause of acid reflux without encircling and putting pressure on the food passageway. It restores and maintains the lower esophageal sphincter in its original, natural position. The RefluxStop™ mechanism of action is focused on reconstructing all three components of the anti-reflux barrier, that if compromised could possibly result in acid reflux. It restores and supports the natural anatomical physiology of the body allowing the body to itself solve the problem with acid reflux. Acid Reflux and Burping Too Often? When It's Time to See a Houston GI Doctor

REPORT Listly by Ahmed Ahmed It's normal to burp occasionally after a big meal or a fizzy drink. But if you find yourself burping excessively or constantly battling heartburn, it might be more than just indigestion. These symptoms could be signs of acid reflux burping or even stomach inflammation gastritis, both of which may need attention from a qualified Houston GI specialist. If you're searching for a trusted digestive disease center near me, knowing when to seek help can make all the difference in protecting your long-term digestive health. What Causes Excessive Burping and Acid Reflux? Burping is your body's way of releasing excess air from your stomach. But when it's frequent—especially when paired with symptoms like a burning sensation in the chest or regurgitation—it may signal gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or underlying stomach inflammation gastritis. Common triggers include: Eating large or fatty meals Carbonated beverages Smoking or alcohol use Chronic stress Certain medications An H. pylori infection (a leading cause of gastritis) These factors can irritate your digestive tract and lead to persistent acid reflux burping and inflammation of the stomach lining. When Is Burping a Problem? Burping too often—more than three or four times after every meal—or having it paired with other symptoms could indicate something more serious. Warning signs include: Persistent heartburn or sour taste Upper abdominal pain or bloating Nausea or vomiting Loss of appetite Fatigue or weakness (possibly due to anemia) Dark or tarry stools If these symptoms sound familiar, it's time to consult a Houston GI doctor at a reputable digestive disease center near me. Ignoring them may allow your condition to worsen, making treatment more complicated. Could It Be Gastritis? Yes. Stomach inflammation gastritis can mimic symptoms of acid reflux but is often caused by damage to the stomach lining. This can result from bacterial infections, long-term NSAID use, or lifestyle factors. Chronic gastritis can lead to ulcers, bleeding, or even an increased risk of stomach cancer. A Houston GI doctor can diagnose gastritis using tools like: Upper endoscopy Blood tests Stool tests Urea breath test for H. pylori Once diagnosed, treatment often includes acid-suppressing medications, antibiotics (if H. pylori is present), and diet modifications. Why Choose a Digestive Disease Center Near You in Houston? When symptoms persist, early intervention at a digestive disease center near me can prevent complications. The benefit of seeing a Houston GI specialist includes: Personalized diagnosis and care State-of-the-art diagnostic tools Proven treatments for acid reflux burping, gastritis, and more Ongoing management and lifestyle guidance Take Control of Your Digestive Health Don't brush off frequent acid reflux burping or ignore stomach discomfort. These may be early signs of more serious conditions like stomach inflammation gastritis. If you're in the Houston area, connecting with a Houston GI doctor at a nearby digestive disease center near me can help you get relief and avoid long-term complications.
